An old 8mm film of this visit of which I cannot find any trace. Did she indeed arrive in Penang to meet the boy and girl scouts there? I guess it was in 1956, but I'm not sure.

East Ridge to Mount Baden-Powell
A really hard hike with no real trail 80 percent of the way. From the parking lot (6593'), go through the gate and east up the road toward the Big Horn Mine. After 1.6 miles (before reaching the fence marking the mine property), ascend the east ridge on a use trail. Climb a steep ridge for 1.4 miles with 2400' of gain to meet the main ridge and the PCT 200' below the summit. Follow the top of the ridge wherever possible in order to avoid steep loose dirt on the exposed north side.
This is not a beginner hike so please be careful.

How to Section Hike the PCT - Ep 13: Mt Baden-Powell to Vincent Gap. October 17, 2019. I can't believe I left this video on Private...so sorry... I hope you enjoy the second half of the journey over Mt. Baden-Powell. The views were spectacular and I was reminded about what is really important in life and on the trail. After getting to spend my first night alone on the PCT I was so thrilled for the peace and quiet and just being in nature. Don't get me wrong I like being around other hikers too but sometimes I like solitude. Thats why I am a solo backpacker. I got a ride from the trailhead at Vincent Gap back to my car at Islip Saddle. Sadly, I did not get any video or photos of my trail angels.

Stealth Camping near Mount Baden-Powell
Stealth camping for a few days near Mount Baden-Powell just off the Pacific Crest Trail, aka PCT.
Mount Baden-Powell is in the San Gabriel Mountains of California, north of Wrightwood on the PCT. This particular spot would have been great for a stealth cabin if not for the lack of water within several miles and the awkward resupply of having to hitch into Wrightwood, CA.
As it was I had to hike out on my third day due to an incoming snowstorm. Skipped the hike up the still icy Baden-Powell and took the High Sierra Route down to lower elevations.

How to Section Hike the PCT - Ep 12: Mt Baden-Powell via Islip Saddle (4K). October 16, 2019. I decided to do a small section hike (1 night) from Islip Saddle over Mt Baden-Powell to Vincent Gap. It was just a quick trip that was easy logistically. Going in the fall shoulder season I pretty much had the PCT to myself. I really like solo backpacking and this was perfect. It was the first time I had a campsite to myself on the PCT! You do not need a permit for this section. The trail skirts along the edge of the San Gabriel Mountains wilderness. I called all of the ranger districts to confirm this was accurate. You do need a Forest Adventure Pass to park at the trailheads in this area though. You can purchase these at REI or check on line with the Forestry Service.

Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell, Baron Baden-Powell ke-1, Bt, OM, GCMG, GCVO, KCB ( 22 Februari 1857 - 8 Januari 1941), juga dikenal sebagai BP, bipi atau Lord Baden-Powell, adalah letnan satu umum di tentara, penulis, dan pendiri Gerakan Kepanduan.
Setelah bersekolah di 74 altilery , Baden-Powell bertugas di Angkatan Darat Inggris dari tahun 1876 sampai 1910 di India dan Afrika. Pada tahun 1899, selama Perang Boer Kedua di Afrika Selatan, Baden-Powell berhasil mempertahankan kota yang di Pengepungan Mafeking. Beberapa buku bertema militer yang ditulis untuk pengintaian dan pelatihan pandu di Afrika tahun itu banyak dibaca oleh anak laki-laki. Berdasarkan buku-buku sebelumnya, ia menulis Scouting for Boys, yang diterbitkan tahun 1908 oleh Pearson, untuk pembaca remaja. Selama menulis, ia menguji gagasannya melalui perjalanan berkemah di Pulau Brownsea dengan Boys' Brigade dan anak tetangganya yang dimulai pada 1 Agustus 1907, yang kemudian dianggap sebagai awal dari Kegiatan Kepanduan.
