It's August again and with August always comes Ferie De Las Flores aka the Flower Festival.
Parades, concerts, art and a lot more awaits you at the flower festival. In other words a big party! The month of August is one of the busiest in Medellin next to Christmas time. A lot of people are coming into the city of eternal spring to see the beautiful flowers arrangements.
We had a lot of fun at the flower festival. Lots of people, events, food and of course flowers.
We noticed, that the traffic was really bad during that time. The traffic jams started unusually early and ended pretty late too. If you want to fly to Medellin during August it will cost you more than usual because of the flower festival.
We also have to mention, that you have to watch out when you are in big crowds, August is one of the high seasons for pickpocketers. Always watch your stuff and try to avoid the big crowds if possible and try to stand a little bit further of a stage. The further the better, there are fewer people and therefore the probability lower to get robbed.
The Story:
The first flower festival ever started around 50 years ago. Flower farmers from Santa Elena, a village up in the hills, are cultivating different kind of flowers there. They came down with the silletas (a wooden kinda chair that they were carrying on their backs. The chair has more history to it, but let's concentrate on the flower festivals story) into the city of Medellin in order to sell the flowers.
As soon as they sold their flowers they went grocery shopping and went back to Santa Elena with the groceries. The journey down took around 19h and the way up around 23h. It was a long and tough journey.
One of the farmers got enough money to buy a car and transported the flowers that way. When they went down to the city in the new car they first drove by the markets to show their flowers, that was marketing in the early days if you want so.
Long story short, this is how the tradition of the flower festival started, and ever since they celebrate the beautiful flowers from the Santa Elena farmers. For 2 weeks each August.

We were on the last day of the former flower fair in Medellin Colombia, enjoying the parades of silleteros and the kindness of its people.

This fair is the most socially recognized event in the city of Medellin, Colombia, includes a parade of silleteros with their floral ornaments, parade of horses of fine passage, peageant, concerts and artistic and musical events.
On a personal level, we tell our subscribers that we make the last shots with our Sony AX 53 4K that we show in the first 2 and a half minutes of this video at the fair of flowers of Medellin Colombia in 2019.
We had a perch while we toured the streets of Medellín; Someone took the Sony fdr ax 53 4k out of our backpack that accompanied us on many trips and many countries during the last 4 years and with which we took our videos that we showed on our YouTube channel.
This mishap occurred to us in Medellin in an oversight; It could have been in any city in Latin America, but it happened in the country and one of the cities that attracts us the most and we have traveled in recent years: Medellin Colombia.
As a recommendation to the foreign tourist, we say that we cannot get distracted in street shows that are not organized by the mayor's office and where there is no police.

Medellin Colombia, at this time is quite crowded, many people go shopping and the Medellin downtown is full of people in a hurry buying and getting ready to celebrate Christmas with their family.
In downtown of Medellin Colombia, we have taken shots at Botero Square, Berrio Park, San Antonio Station, La Candelaria neighborhood, Bomboná and nearby sites to this place .
We took the metro in Medellin Colombia and took a short walk through the park of Envigado, then we got basck the same way again and returned to downtown Medellin Colombia.
At night we looked around through the streets in Medellin Colombia, we saw that it looks just as crowded and full of people as on daytime.
Medellín Colombia downtown, is like any other important city in the world; is congested, there is a traffic jam al day, and full of people, but during the Christmas season the flow of people is much bigger during the Christmas season.
As usual, we observe beautiful women in this city.

We were at Lleras Park in Medellin Colombia on Friday night on Christmas Eve but we did not find much nightlife at this El Poblado neighborhood.
We were already going out from Parque Lleras when we listen to one of our favorite songs: Loosing My Religion.
In a corner 2 blocks from Lleras Park, we find Karllos Neon from Brazil who fortunately speaks English and very good Spanish; there, we allowed ourselves to take some shots of their talent and curiously some beautiful women began to cross.
All kind of people traditionally meet at weekends to eat something, drink and dance, in the magnificent and varied restaurants, clubs, cafes, and bars surrounding this popular sector of Medellín.

The first place of nightlife we travel is near Botero Square, in the surroundings of the Church of La Veracruz, near Berrio Park; in the downtown Medellín Colombia and watch the nightlife area of this no go zone for tourists in Medellín Colombia.
This street is two blocks from Botero Square going to the wet side, it is easy to get there and easy to take this wrong route but this is also a medellin nightlife. at this redlight district.

Visiting Medellín Colombia at the Flower Fair. We toured the boulevard de la 70 where people congregate to celebrate and meet in the streets or in any of its restaurants or clubs in this sector of the Laureles neighborhood in Medellin Colombia.
We stayed in the center of Medellin, Colombia, near Plaza Botero, visited by tourists.

Laureles Medellin Colombia - Colombia Travel to Medellin Laureles is a must for any visit to Medellin Colombia. Medellin Colombia has many neighborhoods which include pricing from low to high. The city is divided into Strata's. Strata's range from 1 to 6. 6 being the highest, such as Poblado. This simply means that this area's income and property values are the highest. Laureles is a 4 and 5, and offers pricing much better than Poblado. It also offers a flat terrain. Which, let me tell you, is a big plus. So if you're scheduling a trip to Medellin you need to keep this area in mind for a visit. Laureles Medellin Colombia has a tropical feel to it. Very lush, quit and a simple but upscale lifestyle. Living the digital nomad lifestyle, I had to check out various areas of the city. I'd also suggest looking into Envigado and Belen as well. Which would be my second and third choices for long term residence. Also, the Laureles nightlife is great. I would even say more than Poblado. You have La Setenta (70th street) where there's numerous restaurants and nightspots. The Laureles neighborhood also includes Nutibara and trente tres (33rd street), where there's even more nightlife; I tell you if you have to choose between Laureles or Poblado, you should think of Laureles. I've seen a few of the apartments/condos and I absolutely loved them. If you're traveling to Colombia and visiting Medellin you have to check it out. Check out Son Havana nightclub and also the California club on 33rd. Laureles Colombia has it all. And at a good price. Colombia travel has never been better; you owe it to yourself to check it out.

In Medellin there are a lot of stores and sales at a good price on the street, that's why the streets of downtown Medellin Colombia are filled with people in the afternoons and even more when it is the time of the flower fair. We took the metro in Medellin Colombia, which is a good transport system for this city with approximately 3 million inhabitants and in rush hour it was practically impossible to access due to the large number of people in this city.

This time we were touring downtown Medellin Colombia, we showed at the beginning of the video the journalist's park, then we took the eastern avenue in the north-south direction, we climbed the avenue that takes the tram, crossing the San José station, in the Bomboná neighborhood sector , ending our daytime tour in this video at Berrio Park.
Downtown Medellin is a popular place, there are concentrated the large number of businesses and commercial sites that are visited by the most of the inhabitants of this city because everything that a citizen needs at affordable prices, popular restaurants, warehouses is located. chain markets stores, hardware, clothing, footwear, electronics, notaries, academies or university and training centers, etc. there are also museums and cultural sites, Plaza Botero, Berrio Park and subway stations that can take you to the popular places in Medellín
Then we show our night tour in one of our favorite places in Medellin Colombia such as Lleras Park, located in the neighborhood of El Poblado, south sector of Medellin; there we just go through the Lleras Park located on 9th Street with Cra 38.
No tourist will have difficulty finding the Lleras Park in Medellín, all its inhabitants know its location, without a problem you can take a taxi and just by mentioning its name the taxi driver will take you to this site, you do not need to give the exact location or address, anyone In Medellin, they will give you directions on its location, it is perhaps the most sought after place by tourists and also locals, the reason:
The Lleras Park in Medellín is located in the El Poblado neighborhood, one of the exclusive and preferred neighborhoods of Medellín Colombia, there are the best restaurants, at least the most popular, those where any successful person wants to be seen, if You want to see beautiful women, successful entrepreneurs is where they meet.
