Travelling with Bruce is Live! 6 Cruise Lines Have Free Drinks Why?

Travelling with Bruce is Live! 6 Cruise Lines Offering Free Drinks Why?
If the cruise lines are doing as well as they say, why are 6 different cruise lines offering free alcohol drink packages. Some are also throwing in premium coffee drinks and soda drinks. Maybe it's because if you get a free $89 a day drink deal you still have to pay the 18% gratuity charge which means that 2 people in a cabin will pay a fee of $224.28 as a mandatory charge on top of the cruise fare. Multiply that fee times say 2500 adult passengers and you get $553,200.00 for the ship's bank account! Booze costs a ship about $7.00 a bottle. There's money in them there hills folks! Drink all you want the ship wins...

History of magic (close up magic)

The diversity of tourism in Egypt and what inspires you to visit it

Speaker: Walaa Ali – Postdoc Fulbright Visiting Scholar - Bureau of Economic Geology

Egypt is located in the northeastern corner of Africa and South-Western Asia. It has always been known for its ancient history of pyramids, pharaohs, temples, and great monuments. It has the world's biggest open-air museum that got one-third of the world's antiquities in Luxor city on the east bank of the Nile. Egypt is also known for its cultural and civilizational heritage that dates back thousands of years to the fourth millennium BC. Its achievements have been preserved in art and antiquities. Egypt contains a diversity of tourist attractions such as religious, geologic, sport, medical, and entertainment tourism. In Egypt, there are different environments, starting from the sea and ending with the desert. It includes the Western and Eastern Desert, the Sinai Peninsula, the natural and artificial lakes, the Red Sea coast, the Mediterranean coast, and more than thirty nature reserves.

This lecture will take us on a journey through Egypt's history as a Cradle of Civilization starting from the Pharaonic era, Greek era, Roman era, Coptic era, Islamic era, and Modern era, by exploring the most beautiful and distinguished places tourists love to visit. Such as Alexandria City, founded in c. 331 BC by Alexander the Great, was the largest in the ancient world before being overtaken by Rome. Furthermore, the lecture will look at the Holy Family trail in Egypt, Moses Mountain, Monastery of Saint Catherine, the Kurdish Ayyubid ruler Salah al-Din Citadel, the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, and the Grand Egyptian Museum that launched in April 2021 and brought a great deal of archaeological tourism to Egypt.

The lecture will also look at the nature preserves that cover almost 12% of Egypt's land area. We will witness Egypt’s wild side and look at the ten best preserves in the country such as the late Pleistocene White Desert, The Jurassic mounds of the Black Desert, and Elba Mountain Reserve. The Elba Mountain Reserve being the largest Egyptian nature reserve located in the Red Sea Governorate, specifically in Halayeb, 1300km from Cairo. In addition, the lecture will take us to the Valley of Golden Mummies during the Greco-Roman period, the colorful canyon at Sharm El-Sheikh, the best location for diving in The Red Sea, and the many shipwrecks hidden in its depths. Besides, the Marsa Matruh governorate will be mentioned that is characterized by seven different colors of seawater, the Great Sand Sea, on the boundary with Lybia. The lecture will finally look at things to know as a tourist visiting Egypt and some recommendations on immersing yourself in the culture.

Walaa Awaad. Ali is a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the Bureau of Economic Geology, The University of Texas at Austin, where she holds a Master of Arts degree in Energy and Earth Resources- Jackson School of Geosciences, UT- Austin (Ford Fellow Scholarship, 2009). Walaa holds a Ph.D. in marine geology from Suez Canal University in Egypt and worked in numerous distinguished positions in geology in Egypt. The turning point in her career came when she began instructing university students as a faculty member at Alexandria University. Walaa primary duties are lecturing and conducting geological fieldwork with students in the Sahara desert. Ali completed her doctoral degree in 2016, and two years later was selected to teach in the petroleum and mining Sciences department as an assistant professor at Matrouh University. She currently holds a position as a lecturer of reservoir sedimentology and petroleum geology, teaching students, leading research teams, and practicing the aspects of geologic field trips she loves most. Her journey comes full circle as she returns to UT as a 2021 Fulbright visiting scholar. She is conducting research using data from the Western Desert of Egypt to analyze the unconventional source rock potentiality of Khatatba Shale at Matruh Basin – to predict whether it will become economical in the future or not and compare it to similar sources in Texas.

EP 061 Reap the Benefits of Solo Travel in Your Own Backyard

BB Peters is one of the founders of Boom Goddess Radio and an Account Executive at Natural Awakenings Magazine. As a daughter of immigrant parents, BB was accustomed to being very independent and traveling solo in her own backyard at a young age. As BB got older, she would often take solo work trips, but even then she would still find herself traveling solo in her own city. On the show, BB encourages you to take baby steps within your own state if you don’t feel comfortable jet-setting 5,000 miles into the unknown.

Key Takeaways:

*How did BB get started in solo travel?

*When BB was 11, she had to help her immigrant parents with the language barrier when they first arrived in the United States.

*There are a lot of women out there solo traveling for work, but because it’s work, they don’t really count it as real solo travel.

*You don’t have to be this huge world traveler to reap the benefits of solo travel.

*BB shares a story about a quick solo trip she took right in her backyard.

*Jennifer loves to take people on ‘challenge’ weekends where they get to practice using public transportation for the first time.

*Don’t take your own backyard for granted. There’s a ton of things you can do solo within your own city!

*Has BB ever been fearful of her safety while traveling solo?

*What advice does BB have for women who are on the fence about traveling solo?

*Instead of getting stressed when something goes wrong, just accept and embrace it. You’ll be much more open to change that way.

*You don’t have to jump into solo travel with both feet. You can take baby steps!

*How does BB’s family react to her solo adventures?

*BB recently took a trip to Costa Rica! What was that trip like?

*How can a woman stay safe while traveling?
