My first close encounter with an 3,5m long oceanic whitetip shark the lonigmanus at the Elphinstone Reef Marsa Alam, egypt.

An incredibly close encounter with rare 'racehorse of the sea'; the sailfish
Rarely seen, this sailfish gave videographer Johannes Stringer a 'once in a lifetime experience' at Emperor Divers' Concorde Moreen Beach's house reef in Marsa Alam. From feeding at the surface, the sailfish turns and torpedoes in to take a closer look at Johannes, complete with a full display of his back sail fin to show 'who's boss'.

Faszinierendes Unterwasserparadies: Tauchabenteuer Roten Meer mit Millionen von Fischen Marsa Alam
Der zweite Tauchgang an diesem Tag in Maheleg. Diesmal tauchten wir in Richtung Süden. Vorbei an wunderschön gefärbten Korallen und Schwämmen, die Heimat von 1000en von kleineren Fischen sind. Wir ließen uns sogar einen freischwimmenden Skorpionfisch beobachten. In jeder Felsspalte gab es etwas zu sehen, sei es eine stattliche Muräne, ein Rotfeuerfisch, ein Kofferfisch oder Nemo und sein Clownfisch-Partner in ihrer Anemone - Clownfische bleiben sich ein Leben lang treu und verteidigen sogar ihre Eier gegen Taucher. Wir fuhren weiter, vorbei an dem schlafenden Blaupunktrochen im Sand. Ich finde die riesigen Muscheln mit dem blauen Innenleben sehr interessant, aber ich möchte mir nicht vorstellen, was passiert, wenn man einen Finger hineinsteckt.
Auf unserer Reise via Flughafen von Marsa Alam zum Akassia Swiss Resort im Oktober 2019 tauchten wir mit dem Team von Wonderful Dive, die ihre Basis direkt in der Hotelanlage haben.
Da es meist zu windig ist, um am Hausriff zu tauchen, hat die Basis ein Ersatzhausriff im Windschatten mit dem Tauchplatz Maheleg. Dieses gehörte früher zu einem anderen Hotel, das schließen musste und Wonderful Divers konnte den Platz übernehmen.

Elphinstone Reef, close to Marsa Alam, Egypt – Nearly all year you have pretty good chances to see all kind of large fish at the Elphinstonereef. Especially around October you can hope to see some Oceanic Whitetips.
We have seen plenty of other marine life, this video however is a tribut to the Whitetips. This was my first real shark encounter and an amazing experience.
We enjoyed the trip and the dives and I can highly recommend diving there. You have to be an advanced diver with a minimum of 50 logged dives.

This is the story of one perfect day in Egypt.
It happened a couple of years ago. We drove through the dessert from Hurghada to our hotel in Marsa Alam to go diving at these amazing spots. After two amazing dives, we decided to check out the reef where we got back to shore and this is what happened. These 3 dolphins stayed & played with us for about an hour.
