I must say that this it's not the best of places to go to in Marrakech if you only want to know the tradicional old culture but, after a few days, the Marrakech Old Medina may overwhelm you. Yes, it's beautiful and nostalgic and there are tons of things to see and but, you may need a break. Who doesn't? This area its just a few minutes away the Medina Souks and it's more relaxed. You will find a more western style of life with coffee stores and shops. Most people speak English, French, Spanish and of course, Arabic. This is the place where you find essentials things like water, groceries, SIM cards, Zara Store, H&M, Starbucks and even Mcdonalds. Although Gueliz its modern and cosmopolitan, you feel you still in Africa. Very modern buildings, nice shops and restaurants, very lively neighbourhood.

The Bahia Palace is a 19th century building, consisting of halls decorated with superb stuccowork, palace paintings and mosaics and a set of gardens located in Marrakech, Morocco. The Bahia Palace was intended to be the largest palace of its time. The name of the Bahia Palace means brilliance in Arabic. As in other buildings of the time in other countries, it aimed to capture the essence of Islamic and Moroccan style. There is a 2-acre (8,000 m²) garden with rooms opening onto courtyards in the Bahia Palace.
The Bahia Palace was erected at the end of the 19th century by Si Moussa, Grand Vizier of the Sultan, for his personal use, the Bahia Palace will bear the name of one of his wives. Here, the harem, which includes a vast courtyard decorated with a central basin and surrounded by rooms intended for the concubines. As the black slave Abu Ahmed rose to power and wealth towards the end of the 19th century, he had the Bahia Palace built by bringing in craftsmen from Fez.
