We've done a lot of travel around Turkey, but in this vlog we finally explore the things to do in Istanbul Asian side - Blue Mosque & Hagia Sophia mainly - on our second to last day with Travel Talk Tours.
As far as the best things to do in Istanbul? The Blue Mosque is arguably the top thing to see in all of Turkey, at least in Istanbul anyway. The trouble at the moment is the restorations taking place, lots of the Blue Mosque was hidden away from our eyes and cameras sadly. Amazing to see, but sad that we didn't properly get to experience the Blue Mosque properly.
Just a few minutes away is Hagia Sophia - a church and museum and it's stunning. Such a beautiful building on the inside. So as it stands, our recommendation on the best thing to do in Istanbul is actually Hagia Sophia. It's larger, older, more impressive and not as much scaffolding in your way.
Either way, Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque are so close to each other if you're deciding on what to do in Istanbul it's worth visiting (on a week day and early!) both to appreciate the history of Turkey and what makes Istanbul so special.

Why You Should Visit ISTANBUL Turkey
Why You Should Visit ISTANBUL Turkey. First Time in Istanbul. I’m Rok and I’ve spent last 8 years travelling around Europe as a tour guide. I want to show you one of my favourite places Istanbul, Turkey and Why Istanbul is worth visiting. If this is your first time in Istanbul you’ll be impressed by its eastern charm. This Istanbul cinematic vlog will show you three main parts of Istanbul. You will get ideas what to do in Istanbul and what Istanbul is like.
Istanbul sits on two continents where Bosphorus strait always served as a bridge between Europe and the Middle East. Istanbul is the biggest city in Europe and one with most interesting history going back for 2700 years. Istanbul was an imperial capital for 16 centuries. For a short period of time Istanbul was even a capital of Roman empire, then it was a capital of Byzantine Empire and a capital of Ottoman empire.
Istanbul is huge but there are three main parts of the city that visitors are interested in. I will start with Istanbul old city. This is the most popular part known as Fatih district. It is a small peninsula that used to be the city of Constantinople. Fatih is the Istanbul of the old times, before the enlargement of the city began in the 19th century. Here you will find some of the most remarkable and the oldest sights.
The second interesting part of Istanbul is a Golden Horn. It is estuary of two rivers that enters into Bosphorus straight. Throughout the history this was used as a natural harbour and was considered to be a commercial centre of the city. This was a doorway to the ancient city, through which goods were coming in for centuries. Today Golden Horn is a popular destination for boat cruises with great views. It separates old and new part of Istanbul and at the same time connects them with many bridges.
The third interesting part of Istanbul is on the other side of the Golden Horn. This
part use to be the base of European merchants, particularly from Genoa and Venice as can bee seen by spectacular Galata tower build by city of Genova in 1300s. Today this area is famous for its amazing İstiklâl Avenue filled with shops, cafés, patisseries, restaurants, pubs, clubs, theatres and galleries.

Istanbul's Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia | Must-See Sites
Istanbul is a city rich in history, culture and great food and we just couldn't get enough of it. Visiting the city for three days wasn't enough time to enjoy all that it has to offer, but luckily we were able to see a lot of the famous sites.
Our second day in Istanbul was spent visitng the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, two of its most memorable landmarks. Shopping and getting something to eat from one of the local restaurants were the perfect way to end our very busy day in this beautiful city.
