Prague in 1 Day Itinerary - Step-By-Step Guide + FREE MAP

Only have 1 day to explore the beautiful Prague? We’ve created a step-by-step video in which we’ll show you how to get the most out of your 24-hour visit.

We’ve also created a map with all the interest points which are mentioned in the video. Here is a link where you can see our suggested route for FREE. (Zoom in on Prague in case the map loads zoomed out).

The route we suggest in the video was created so you can see the most out of Prague in 1 day, walking casual speed, not visiting any of the museums but mainly focusing on seeing the city and its monuments. You will walk a lot so make sure to wear comfy shoes!

There are suggestions for restaurants and cafes along the way. We recommend these because they are close to the walking route and we have a good experience with them. No paid promotion.

The monuments we cover in the first half of the video we cover on our Free Walking Tour (tip-based tour) which starts at 10 am and 3 pm every day. You can book it here for free:

We also cover the interiors of Prague Castle on our Prague Castle Tour with Interiors. More about our Prague Castle tour here:

10 Places You Must Visit In Prague - Your Honest Guide Explained All Prague ????

10 Places You Must Visit In Prague

1. The monumental Charles Bridge
This is one of the best-known images of Prague, and one of the places most tourists visit first. Charles Bridge, is one of Prague’s oldest bridges, built on the orders of Charles IV . Although work began in 1357 and did not finish until 1402, this monumental marvel was well worth the wait.
2. Prague Castle
No trip to Prague would be complete without taking a tour of Prague Castle and its surroundings. The Prague Castle stands proud above the city overlooking the river and the historic neighborhood of Malistrana.
Prague Castle is not a castle in the sense of it being a single building with turrets and towers. It is a huge (7 hectares or 18 acres) conglomeration of palaces, St. Vitus Cathedral, churches, the President’s state offices and apartments, a monastery, museums, and art galleries gathered around three main courtyards.
3. St Vitus Cathedral
The Cathedral of Saint Vitus,, Wenceslaus and Adalbert stands within the citadel of Prague Castle. It took six centuries to complete, as work began in 1344 and did not finish until 1929. Don’t limit yourself to admiring its Gothic style from outside — spend at least half an hour visiting the incredible Chapel of St Wenceslaus.
4 Golden Lane and Kafka’s house
This little street, situated between the White Tower and the Tower of Dalibor, is one of Prague Castle’s wonderful surprises. No one would expect to find here a row of colourful cottages like something out of a fairy tale. These little dwellings were built into the arches of the fortifications from the late sixteenth century onwards.

5 The Powder Tower

Although Prague abounds in historic monuments, the Powder Tower still draws admiration from everyone who visits this city. It is one of Prague’s most important Late Gothic monuments, and it could be described as the entrance to the Old Town. All Czech kings passed through here on their way to be crowned. Since it was built in the fifteenth century, it has served many different purposes, including as an army gunpowder store.

6. Petrin Hill
An enormous park and an observation tower resembling the Eiffel Tower are the main attractions of Petrin Hill, and they’re quite impressive! This is one of the capital’s largest green spaces, and somewhere you can relax and switch off at any time of the day. You can travel to the top on a cable car.
On Petrin, you can go for a very enjoyable stroll through gardens such as Nebozízek or the Seminary Garden (with its two thousand or more fruit trees), and you can go up the tower to admire the views over Prague.

7 The John Lennon Wall
Prague has created its own tribute to the musical genius John Lennon, and only a few visitors to the city leave without having their photo taken in front of this multi-coloured wall. This project came about spontaneously after the singer’s death. Someone painted an image of his face on a wall of the garden of the Order of Malta, and people went on adding quotes, candles and calls for liberty.

8. Wenceslas square
Wenceslas Square is Prague’s cultural and business centre. During the history of Bohemia, it witnessed many significant historical events, since it is a traditional venue for demonstrations, celebrations, and other mass gatherings.

9. Dancing House
The Dancing House is a building situated on the corner of Rašínovo Embankment (Rašínovo nábřeží) and Jiráskovo Square (Jiráskovo náměstí) in the New Town of Prague. An instant eye-catcher, referred to as an original, stylish, one-of-a-kind but also as a controversy-sparking and divisive structure, the Dancing House is a fine example of contemporary architecture and it lures travellers from all over the world. It ranks as one of the most iconic sights of Prague, among Prague Castle, Charles Bridge or the Prague Astronomical Clock.

10. Old Town Square and Clock Tower
One of the first places on the itinerary of most visitors to Prague is the Old Town Square, which dates from the twelfth century. Not only is it one of the oldest squares, but it also contains great monuments such as the Old Town Hall, the Church of Our Lady of Tyn, the Kinsky Palace, and the Stone Bell House.

Prague's Worst Tourist Scams and Traps You Need to AVOID !

As a local who has lived in Prague for years, we know all the common tourist scams and traps to avoid in order to have a smooth and enjoyable trip to the city. In this video, we'll take you on a tour of Prague's Old Town and share the top 10 things you should avoid doing as a tourist, including buying overpriced souvenirs, eating at touristy restaurants, using sketchy ATMs and money exchanges, and falling victim to various scammers. So be careful and don't do these things in this video

But don't worry, we won't just leave you with a list of things to avoid. We'll also give you alternative ideas of what to do in Prague so you can make the most of your trip without losing your money. From visiting the iconic Prague Castle and Charles Bridge, to exploring the beautiful city of Cesky Krumlov, there are plenty of amazing experiences to be had in the Czech Republic.

So if you're planning a visit to Prague and want to avoid the tourist traps and scams, be sure to watch this video for our honest and helpful advice. We'll also share some tips on what to do and see in the city, as well as some lesser-known gems that are worth a visit. Don't miss out on all the amazing things Prague has to offer – watch this video and make the most of your trip!

A possibility to support our channel :

First on our list is buying overpriced souvenirs from shiny shops in the Old Town. These shops may look appealing, but you'll end up paying a lot more for souvenirs than you would elsewhere. Instead, head to the Havelske Market where you'll find plenty of souvenirs at more reasonable prices. Plus, shopping at the market is always a fun experience!

Next, be careful when using ATMs and money exchange places. Some places may offer you a lower exchange rate or try to scam you by offering rubles instead of Czech crowns. Make sure to shop around and don't go for the first place you see in the Prague Old Town Square. Look for bank ATMs instead, and you'll get a fair exchange rate. Also avoid Euro net machines or written atm in big text. Look for Czech bank atms & u can use card in most shops and places

Another scam to watch out for is street performers and costume guys who will try to take a picture with you and then demand payment. These types of scams are now illegal, but you may still come across them in the city. Just avoid taking pictures with them altogether.

If you're a smoker, be aware that smoking is not allowed indoors in Czech bars and restaurants. You'll have to smoke outside, so make sure to dress accordingly. And while we're on the subject of restaurants, avoid the touristy ones in the center of the city. They're often overpriced and not as good as the smaller, local restaurants.

When it comes to tipping, make sure to leave at least 10%. Customer service can vary in Prague, but tipping is a good way to show your appreciation for good service.

And if you have a sweet tooth, don't buy candy from the touristy shops.

Avoid thai massage - ruins the city center
