About Minsk :
Minsk (Belarusian: Мінск, Russian: Минск) is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Belarus. Its population is about two million people.
For many years after the demise of the Soviet Union in 1991, Minsk and Belarus, in general, had a reputation of a Soviet experience park. We start off in a regular, normal residential area checking out some khrushchyovkas, residential buildings built after World War very common in ex-Soviet countries. We then brighten things up a bit by heading to the awesome Gorky Park before finshing off at the extremely colourful Oktyabrskaya Street, well known for it's GINORMOUS murals and street art (some say the biggest in the WORLD - SHOCKED right? LOL).
But the main theme of this video is all of feeling pretty grey and crap in the midst of the current global pandemic. It's time to not rest on your laurels and think of how you can develop yourself. Thing's will get brighter! (see what Ii did there?)

I flew into Minsk at the beginning of October and was on one of the only two flights arriving on that day. I was eligible for a 30-day visa-free as long as I enter and exit the country through Minsk International airport. I booked a $19 room in a shared apartment with a window overlooking the train passed by.
The first 48 hours of my solo travel were merely observing and absorbing this new environment. I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous or anxious about coming to Belarus. I sensed fear in me, from the news that I consumed while researching and the uncertainty that came along with it. While fear is important to keep us alert, I know that every country has different layers to unravel. Through my solo travel, I hope to showcase the other side of Belarus.
