Medellin is slowly reopening with lifting of many restrictions starting on September 1. We are visiting Arkadia mall, the newest constructed mall in Medellin. Arkadia is located in Belén, a comuna with approximately 200,000 residents.
The mall itself is pretty large with multiple floors occupying around 55,000 square meters. There is a Euro supermarket here along with a Cine Colombia movie theater.
Other mall anchor tenants are Falabella, Decathlon, Ktronix and Smart Fit Gym. If you live in Medellín, you would know that there is no shortage of shopping options in the city.
From gigantic traditional shopping malls to small strip centers to small hole-in-the-wall stores, there's something for every budget here.

Medellin Colombia Walking Tour ???????? Including Parque Bolivar, Botero Plaza, and El Centro
In this video we walk around Medellin, Colombia. Starting in El Centro, where we see street vendors selling various goods and witness the hustle and bustle of the street scene.
➡️ We also see street performers and hear some beautiful Spanish music. We then continue on to explore Parque Bolivar, which has amazing huge trees with birdhouses and Botero Plaza. We also met some beautiful Colombian girls serving coffee.
As the evening starts to fall, we take the metro during rush hour to Estadio station which was quite an experience considering what almost happened to me.
➡️ To top it all off, we saw a guy painted all silver dancing in the middle of the street which was not something you see every day, at least I don't think so!

In early September, the strict quarantine due to COVID-19 ended in Colombia. From this moment many of the main cities of Colombia began to establish reopening plans.
Medellin is one of the main cities in Colombia that has established an economic reopening plan, starting with the gastronomic sector in Medellin and a gradual reopening plan for the other sectors.
Today the economic outlook does not look so encouraging, since many of the restaurants and bars in Parque Lleras and the tourist areas of Medellin are closed, for rent or sale.
At the moment, the establishments open in Medellin can occupy only 30% of their capacity, but we are waiting to see how the reopening of tourism in Medellin will take place.

El Centro and Botero Plaza ⛲️ Medellin, Colombia Walking Tour
Follow along with me for another walk around Medellin, this time we are in the Laureles area.
➡️ I ride the metro to San Antonio station to explore the surrounding areas of El Centro and Botero Plaza.
On my way, I see some things I definitely wasn't expecting. I come across some sugar cane juice, which was very exciting and try a tasty snack from a street vendor that I still don't know what it is.
➡️ One hint to you being in Botero is the numerous huge fat statues you will see, they are impossible to miss and not something seen everyday.
I try bread, meat and potatoes on a stick and make friends with some Colombian women while enjoying my food.
As night starts to fall, I enjoy the street scene and then head back to my apartment.

Walking through Medellín in January. There has been a quarantine from Thursday through Monday the last few weekends. It feels good to be out and among the people.
El Centro is a great place if you want to experience the real Medellín. There is just
so much to take in, from the sprawling office towers along Avenida Oriental to the small
shops dotting the alleys of El Hueco, you will find a lot of bustling activity throughout
the day.
There is also a lot of historical and cultural history found in this sector of the city.
El Centro has both one of the largest chuches in the world, the oldest church in Medellín,
the tallest building in Medellín, sculptures from Colombia's most famous artist, and so much
more.
Prices in El Centro generally trend lower here. If you are looking for the cheapest
clothes available, El Centro (and Centro de la Moda in Itagüí) have
the lowest prices in the Medellín metro area.
