MAURITIUS: The ULTIMATE Travel Guide to PARADISE ISLAND the Indian Ocean
Welcome to paradise island! This is Mauritius, the green volcanic island off the coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean. We fly our drone over the famous Le Morne mountain, visit the seven colored earth and Chamarel waterfall and drive through the Black River Gorge. Of course we also see the best hotels and lay down on the perfect beaches. This video is the perfect guide for a family holiday to Mauritius!
In the previous episodes you saw how we made a road trip from Cape Town to Kruger Park in South-Africa. We drove the Cape Namibia Route along the West Coast to look for animals in the Kalahari Desert. After that we crossed the border into Namibia, where we drove straight through the world's highest sand dunes in the Sossusvlei. We saw all the sights in Namibia and wend on a safari in Etosha National Park. Lately we visited Botswana and Zimbabwe, to cross the border again back to South Africa. From Johannesburg we take you island hopping on Mauritius and also the French island of La Reunion.
Our journey through Africa is part of a one and a half year trip around the world. We can even continue to travel indefinitely. On New Year's Day we started in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the Canary Islands. Then you saw us in Oman, Cape Verde, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Tobago, Grenada, the Bahamas, the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, Brazil, Qatar, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Australia, the Philippines, Zanzibar & Tanzania, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa, Mauritius is already destination number 26 on the big trip. We have also been away from home for one and a half year now. Follow us on this world tour, first in Mauritius and then to many more beautiful destinations across the globe! In episode 6 of our MAURITIUS ROAD TRIP we show you one of the many reasons why you should visit Mauritius: it's so easy to get from great mountain hikes to beautiful beaches in a short amount of time. This is just one of the many reasons why we love Mauritius, but it's not often that a travel destination offers such a rich variety of sceneries!
In this video we start our day in Port Louis and then drive to Le Pouce to go on one of the island’s best hikes to the top of the mountain that’s supposed to look like a thumb (it doesn’t really). After trying to find some healthy food in Port Louis, we then continue driving to stop 5 on our road trip the next day. And we were really excited for this one! We quickly fell in love with Trou-aux-Biches and for us it’s one of the best beach destinations on the island.

We did have an amazing day at Il aux cerfs, voted 'Best Place to Visit' by trip advisor BUT... we've been on the island now for two weeks and we can categorically tell you THIS IS NOT THE BEST PLACE TO VISIT IN MAURITIUS. However, Beach was nice, sandbar was amazing for young children. Water was shallow. Plenty of shade. Plenty of seating. BUT very expensive to eat or drink. Sharp coral sand. Water not so clean due to low current.
We will be trying to explore this island of luxury... on a budget! Will it be a complete failure or will we uncover a great opportunity for people to visit this island and not have to remortgage their house. Come along for the adventure, where we will taking part on all the excursions and eating the best we can.. on a budget.

We are Eleise and Lawrence & Nyh – A young family from the south of England. Like many people the pandemic gave us a shake up! While watching hours of Mark Weins in Thailand – We had our “Ah ha” Moment. We decided we wanted to travel.
Enjoying working for ourselves, we didn’t want to give up our business and decided it was entirely possible for us to do both. So we set about making it our lifestyle to work in the UK for a month, and then travel for a month – month on, month off…. until our little boy Nyh goes to school! We want to inspire people that you don’t have to up-sticks, sell all your belongings and leave behind family to be able to see the world.
