ONE DAY IN VALLETTA (MALTA) | 4K UHD | The beautiful capital of Malta

Valletta, the capital of the Republic of Malta, is one of my favourite cities in Europe. The entire city was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980 and was elected for the European Capital of Culture in 2018.

Valletta is a fascinating destination with many highlights and easy to explore on foot in just one day. I started my camera tour from the Triton Fountain, and then continued through the city gate into the historic old town. The city is elegant and impressive at the same time - and with the editing of my shots and especially the music, I tried to express these feelings.

I hope you will enjoy watching. I would be happy if you give my video a like, leave me a comment and subscribe my channel for further videos. All your feedback helps me a lot, and I can promise you to show all my passion in my upcoming videos as well. Thanks in advance for your support and best regards!

VALLETTA MALTA (Full tour of Valetta the capital city of Malta - filmed in HDR)

VALLETTA MALTA | A walk through Valletta, the capital city of Malta
Valletta is the tiny and beautiful capital city of Malta so when we had a trip to the island we just had to have a wander around the streets to see what Valletta is like. Filmed in HLG HDR.

I love Valletta. It has everything you could wish for when travelling to Malta. Lovely beautiful buildings, amazing streets, fantastic architecture and superb hotels, restaurants and shops!

Valletta is the heart of tourism here in Malta and has so much to offer you if you're on a holiday or a trip here and it's easy to get lost in the stunning streets of this beautiful city.

It's been a while since I last went to Malta so I flew there from Manchester Airport recently, touched down at Malta International Airport and the first place I headed to is Valletta. It's right up there as one of my favourite cities and if you're looking for things to do in Malta then a Valletta Tour has to be one of the must do days out.

Valletta (or Il-Belt) is the tiny capital of the Mediterranean island nation of Malta. The walled city was established in the 1500s on a peninsula by the Knights of St. John, a Roman Catholic order. It’s known for museums, palaces and grand churches. Baroque landmarks include St. John’s Co-Cathedral

Valletta, The Fortress City, Citta’ Umilissima, “A city built by gentlemen for gentlemen”. These are some of the names given to Malta’s capital city: a living, working city, the administrative and commercial heart of the Islands.

Valletta is named after its founder, the respected Grand Master of the Order of St. John, Jean Parisot de la Valette. The magnificent fortress city grew on the arid rock of Mount Sceberras peninsula, which rises steeply from two deep harbours, Marsamxett and Grand Harbour.

Started in 1566, Valletta with its impressive bastions, forts and cathedral, was completed in the astonishingly short time of 15 years.Valletta has many titles, all recalling its rich historical past. It is the “modern” city built by the Knights of St John; a masterpiece of the Baroque; a European Art City and a World Heritage City. Today, it is one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world.

The city is busy by day, yet retains a timeless atmosphere. The grid of narrow streets boasts some of Europe’s finest art works, churches and palaces.

Hosting a vast cultural programme, walking around Valletta you’ll come across an intriguing historical site around every corner: votive statues, niches, fountains and coats of arms high up on parapets. Narrow side streets are full of tiny quaint shops and cafés, while Valletta’s main streets are lined with larger international branded shops for fashion, music, jewellery and much more.

I hope you enjoyed this Valletta Walking Tour and hope that it has inspired you to visit Malta!

Walking in VALLETTA / Malta ????????- 4K 60fps (UHD)

Valletta is the capital city of Malta. The city was one of earliest sites listed by UNESCO as World Heritage.

The city was named after Jean Parisot de Valette, a French nobleman. With the foundation in 1566 the Knights of St John created a baroque city which is lively today and the main tourist attraction of the island.

We arrive for our tour from Sliema by ferry. From the waterfront we walk up to the city where we explore many of the streets of Valetta. We pass the St Paul's Pro-Cathedral and explore the centre of the city with St George’s Square and St. John's Co-Cathedral, one of the main sights of Valletta.

The Lower Barrakka Gardens and Siege Bell War Memorial have a nice view towards the other cities of Malta across the water.

We make it up to the Upper Barrakka Gardens and finally walk out of the city to the Valletta City Gate and Triton Fountain where we end this tour.

MALTA - VALLETTA LA CITTA' DEI CAVALIERI - 4k

© CLAUDIO MORTINI™◊

Located in the Mediterranean Sea, Malta is 93 km from Sicily and 290 km from both Libya and Tunisia.
The Maltese archipelago consists of three islands: Malta, the largest (246 square kilometers), with capital Valletta, the islet of Comino, which is uninhabited in winter, and finally the island of Gozo.
Valletta has been elected European Capital of Culture of 2018, but for us it is and will always be the capital of post-adolescent travel, of unforgettable journeys with family in tow.
Valletta is the seat of the political and administrative life of the Republic of Malta.
Rarely a city rich in charm and history has a birth date as precise as Valletta, 1551, when Fort St. Elmo was built to defend the island. Then architects and engineers were called to consolidate the defense, at that time put in grave danger by the Ottoman attacks. With the contribution of the major sovereigns of Europe, as well as of the papacy the construction work began: 8000 men worked there. The name Valletta is due to the Grand Master of Knights of those years, Jean Parisot de la Vallette. The Knights settled in the city on March 17, 1571, the year of the battle of Lepanto.
However, the Knights did not limit themselves to building, but called first-class artists, mostly Italian, to decorate and embellish those seats that were both military and courtesan. The city is formed by a grid of orthogonal streets with a main axis made up of Republic Street. Valletta can be considered an open-air museum.
Designed by architect Renzo Piano, the New Parliament of Malta is one of the most modern buildings that are part of the Valletta city Gate project.
Two works by Caravaggio, the Beheading of Saint John the Baptist, the writing Saint Jerome, are found in the Co-Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist.

Valletta is an administrative unit and the capital of Malta. Located on the main island, between Marsamxett Harbour to the west and the Grand Harbour to the east, its population within administrative limits in 2014 was 6,444. According to the data from 2020 by Eurostat, the Functional Urban Area and metropolitan region covered the whole island and has a population of 480,134. Valletta is the southernmost capital of Europe, and at just 0.61 square kilometres (0.24 sq mi), it is the European Union's smallest capital city.

Valletta's 16th-century buildings were constructed by the Knights Hospitaller. The city was named after Jean Parisot de Valette, who succeeded in defending the island from an Ottoman invasion during the Great Siege of Malta. The city is Baroque in character, with elements of Mannerist, Neo-Classical and Modern architecture, though the Second World War left major scars on the city, particularly the destruction of the Royal Opera House. The city was officially recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1980. The city has 320 monuments, all within an area of 0.55 square kilometres (0.21 sq mi), making it one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world. Sometimes called an open-air museum, Valletta was chosen as the European Capital of Culture in 2018. Valletta is also the sunniest city in Europe.

The city is noted for its fortifications, consisting of bastions, curtains and cavaliers, along with the beauty of its Baroque palaces, gardens and churches.
