Rock City Gardens Tour (4K)
We visited Rock City & Rock City Gardens and were very impressed by this natural wonder perched on the top of Lookout Mountain. It is located nearby Chattanooga Tennessee though is officially in Georgia. Ticket prices range from $22 to $25 for adults, and $9 to $14 for kids, depending on the date of visit.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable 1 hour hike through whimsical surroundings with rock bridges, a fun and shaky swing bridge, gnomes, waterfalls, an extensive fairy tale display called Fairyland Caverns, plus beautiful views where you can see 7 states on a clear day. Definitely plan on spending around 2 hours or more there, and bring plenty of water because it can get HOT during the summer.

Located along the Tennessee River Gorge just south of downtown Chattanooga, Ruby Falls is one of Lookout Mountain's most popular attractions — and it was discovered completely by accident. In 1905, railroad construction forced the closure of the Lookout Mountain Cave, making it inaccessible to the public. More than 20 years later, local cave explorer Leo Lambert sought to reverse this and gathered a team of excavators to help build an elevator from the surface that would lower visitors into the cave. One day, a team member drilled into an 18-inch opening that led to a new cave, where Ruby Falls now stands.
Located 1,120 feet below the surface of the mountain, Ruby Falls is America's largest underground waterfall. Carrying out Lambert's vision, visitors can take an elevator down to the falls and learn about the various rock formations located along the path to the falls. The attraction also boasts a lookout tower and a zip lining adventure. There are a variety of holiday events and seasonal tours, including the Lantern Tour, where guests are guided through the mountain caverns only by lantern.
Recent visitors found the falls stunning and the formations in the cave cool, with many appreciating the fun atmosphere the guides helped create. However, one notable complaint among travelers was that the tour groups are too big for such a small space; some left feeling a bit claustrophobic. Others advised using the restroom beforehand, as the tour can last more than an hour and there are no facilities within the cave. Despite this, many said the tour was a great experience and recommend it to other travelers.
Ruby Falls is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. year-round. Tickets cost $22.95 for adults and $12.95 for children ages 3 to 12. Know that you must take a guided tour to enjoy the falls; you'll select a specific time when you book. Specialty tours have their own fees and schedules. Buses don't stop at Ruby Falls, but parking is free to visitors.

Continuing our road trip through North Ga, we headed to the edge of Tennessee and ended up in Chattanooga!
Our first stop at the Incline Railway was such a blast! We were so blown away by how amazing the views were!

The next morning we ventured back up lookout mountain to see Rock City. We didn’t think the views could get any better, but boy were we wrong. From the top of Rock City, on a clear day, you can see 7 states.

About an hour and a half north we ended our Anniversary at the Lost Sea Adventure! A ¾ miles hike on steep and sloping pathways into an under ground cave system leading to North Americas larges underground Lake. The lake is full of Rainbow Trout, always looking for a snack. This footage might be kind of dark, but it was unbelievably amazing to see, so your going to have to check it out yourself!

As you drive through Tennessee, signs pop up all along the Interstate, in nearby cities and towns and even in the middle of nowhere saying SEE ROCK CITY and if you do, you wont be disappointed! Jen and I have been to Chattanooga 3 times in 4 years and each time we made the trip back to Rock City to take in the awesome experience that it provides!
Along Rock City's self guided enchanted trail you will see a large variety of plants and beautiful flowers nestled within the spectacular rock formations! A 180 foot swinging bridge brings you to the famous Lovers Leap Overlook and gives you a view of seven of our wonderful states! The High Falls Overlook gives you an amazing view of the falls and the rock formations jetting out from the side of Lookout Mountain! And lastly the Fairyland Caverns is a magical and unique tour through a cave with something around every corner and the kids will love it!

Take an unforgettable journey along the Enchanted Trail where each step reveals natural beauty and wonders along the woodland path. Experience the magic of Fairyland Caverns and Mother Goose Village, visit one of our regional gift shops and dine at the Big Rock Grill. Rock City is splendid year-round - Each season there's a new reason to visit! Because of Rock City's closeness to Chattanooga and ONLY A FEW MILES UP the road FROM RUBY FALLS which is in Tennessee, it is frequently believed to be in Tennessee. The tour of Rock City begins in the aptly named Garden's Gateway on the far side of the Rock City gift shop. An ADA-accessible entrance is down the hall to the right of the Gateway. The Grand Corridor is an excellent way to acclimatized your group to the rigors of walking in Rock City. The pathway occasionally narrows and there are some steps, but face it, if you have a problem here, bail out and take the ADA accessible (green) trail. At the Needle's Eye the trail narrows significantly, and walking sideways may be required, before it opens into Deer Park. Goblins' Underpass is a reference to Fairyland, later on trail. On the left after Goblins Underpass a set of rock steps takes visitors up to Legacy Lane. This is a section of the ADA accessible trail that leads to the 1932 Rock City entrance. It can also be used to get to the Birds of Prey show.
A choice presents itself before you enter Rock City's most scenic area. For those free-spirits willing to throw caution to the wind, take the Swingalong Bridge, a solidly built swinging bridge with an excellent view of the Tennessee River valley on clear days. For those who want to keep a little earth under their feet choose the Stone Bridge, crafted from solid rock with an excellent view of the swinging bridge.
Across the bridge lies was is collectively known as Seven States Plaza, featuring what is one of the best-known scenic views in the world. Peering into Georgia's Ridge and Valley section featuring long mountains (like Taylor's Ridge) separated by well-defined valleys. Within the plaza is the See Seven States marker showing the approximate directions of the states. On a clear day (only about 10% are clear enough in the summer), a knowing eye can spot the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Cohutta Mountains and Rich Mountain in the southern Appalachian province.
Added to the plaza in 1991, the Seven States Flag Court has additional scenic views backed by the flags of each of the seven states. The following year the Cliff Terrace was added with food, a movie on Rock City, and amenities. In 2005 a pavilion was added to the plaza so Rock City could host larger events. Leaving the plaza the trail makes a dramatic drop into Fat Man's Squeeze before returning to the area near Seven States Plaza. Here is a dramatic view of some man-made falls and additional scenic views into Georgia's Valley and Ridge area. Continuing on, the 1000-ton Balanced Rock is the final natural attraction in Rock City. Watch for a shortcut shortly after Balanced Rock if you do not wish to see Fairyland Cavern. Frieda Carter loved the children's stories from her native Germany and created Fairyland Cavern as an homage to these tales in 1947. Garnet hired Atlanta sculptor Jesse Sanders to replicate the images of Frieda's childhood. Sanders first had to learn how to work with the relatively new concept of black light, which would allow the cavern to remain dark but light up the statues. In 1964 Sanders completed Mother Goose Village, based on the characters in various nursery rhymes.
