London 4K - Skyscraper District Drive - City of London

Tuesday afternoon drive in the City of London, a major business and financial centre with great views of the new 22 Bishopsgate office tower at the heart of the City of London.
The City of London continues to be one of the world's primary business centres, and a major meeting point for businesses worldwide.

The City is a major business and financial centre. Throughout the 19th century, the City was the world's primary business centre, and it continues to be a major meeting point for businesses. London came top in the Worldwide Centres of Commerce Index, published in 2008. The insurance industry is focused around the eastern side of the City, around Lloyd's building. A secondary financial district exists outside the City, at Canary Wharf, 2.5 miles (4 km) to the east.

The City of London is a city and county that contains the historic centre and the primary central business district (CBD) of London. It constituted most of London from its settlement by the Romans in the 1st century AD to the Middle Ages, but the agglomeration has since grown far beyond the City's borders. The City is now only a tiny part of the metropolis of London, though it remains a notable part of central London. Administratively, it forms one of the 33 local authority districts of Greater London; however, the City of London is not a London borough, a status reserved for the other 32 districts (including London's only other city, the City of Westminster). It is also a separate county of England, being an enclave surrounded by Greater London. It is the smallest county in the United Kingdom.

The City of London is widely referred to simply as the City (differentiated from the phrase the city of London by capitalising City) and is also colloquially known as the Square Mile, as it is 1.12 sq mi (716.80 acres; 2.90 km2) in area. Both of these terms are also often used as metonyms for the United Kingdom's trading and financial services industries, which continue a notable history of being largely based in the City. The name London is now ordinarily used for a far wider area than just the City. London most often denotes the sprawling London metropolis, or the 32 London boroughs, in addition to the City of London itself. This wider usage of London is documented as far back as 1888, when the County of London was created.

The City has a resident population of 9,401 (ONS estimate, mid-2016) but over 300,000 people commute to and work there. About three quarters of the jobs in the City of London are in the financial, professional, and associated business services sectors. The legal profession forms a major component of the northern and western sides of the City, especially in the Temple and Chancery Lane areas where the Inns of Court are located, of which two—Inner Temple and Middle Temple—fall within the City of London boundary.

Lots of stunning glass skyscrapers! Video starts at the famous Tower Bridge tourist attraction. 4K60HDR.

Canary Wharf is an area of London, England, located on the Isle of Dogs in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Canary Wharf is defined by the Greater London Authority as being part of London's central business district, alongside Central London. With the City of London, it constitutes one of the main financial centres in the United Kingdom and the world, containing many high-rise buildings including the third-tallest in the UK, One Canada Square, which opened on 26 August 1991.

London 4K - Rich Neighborhood Drive

Tuesday morning drive in the affluent West London neighborhood of Notting Hill. Video starts in Kensington along High Street and continues through Notting Hill, passing many of the large Victorian townhouses, and along the popular tourist attraction of Portobello Road.
Notting Hill is an affluent district in West London, located north of Kensington within the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea. Notting Hill is known for being a cosmopolitan and multicultural neighbourhood, hosting the annual Notting Hill Carnival and Portobello Road Market.

From around 1870, Notting Hill had an association with artists.

In the early 21st century, after decades of gentrification, Notting Hill has a reputation as an affluent and fashionable area known for attractive terraces of large Victorian townhouses and high-end shopping and restaurants (particularly around Westbourne Grove and Clarendon Cross). A Daily Telegraph article in 2004 used the phrase the Notting Hill Set to refer to a group of emerging Conservative politicians, such as David Cameron and George Osborne, who would become respectively Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer and were once based in Notting Hill.

Portobello Road runs almost the entire length of Notting Hill from north to south. It runs parallel to Ladbroke Grove. It contains Portobello Road Market, one of London's best known markets, containing an antique section and second-hand, fruit and veg and clothing stalls. The road was originally a lane leading to Portobello Farm in the north of Notting Hill.

Notting Hill Carnival is an annual event in August, over two days (Sunday and the following bank holiday). It has continuously taken place since 1965. It is led by members of the Caribbean population, many of whom have lived in the area since the 1950s. The carnival has attracted up to 1.5 million people in the past, putting it among the largest street festivals in Europe.

Notting Hill is also the setting of the films The Knack …and How to Get It (1965), Performance (1970) featuring Mick Jagger, Lava (2001), and Paddington (2014). Notting Hill also serves as the locale for the 1999 romantic comedy Notting Hill, starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.

London 4K - Sunset Drive - Driving Downtown - Central London England

Thursday evening drive around London. I tried to get all the popular spots in one video. What most people think of London is the West End area where most of this video is filmed. The tour starts on Regent Street, continues through Piccadilly Circus (London's version of New York City's Times Square, through Trafalgar Square, then passing by the British Prime Ministers home at 10 Downing Street along Whitehall and Parliament Streets, next by the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, along the River Thames with views of the famous Coca Cola London Eye, then going back to the Theater District, leading to Oxford Street which is Europe's busiest shopping Street, and ending in the Mayfield neighborhood on luxury Bond Street. Wow. That was a lot of text for a video platform... :)

The West End of London is the largest central business district in the United Kingdom, comparable to Midtown Manhattan in New York City, Causeway Bay in Hong Kong, Shibuya in Tokyo, or the 8th arrondissement in Paris. It is one of the most expensive locations in the world in which to rent office space. While the City of London, or the Square Mile, is the main business and financial district in London, the West End is the main commercial and entertainment centre of the city.

The West End of London (commonly referred to as the West End), refers to both a distinct and the wider region of Central London, west of the City of London and north of the River Thames, in which many of the city's major tourist attractions, shops, businesses, government buildings and entertainment venues, including West End theatres, are concentrated.

Activities:
Taking a fairly broad definition of the West End, the area contains the main concentrations of most of London's metropolitan activities apart from financial and many types of legal services, which are concentrated primarily in the City of London. There are major concentrations of the following buildings and activities in the West End:

Art galleries and museums
Company headquarters outside the financial services sector (although London's many hedge funds are based mainly in the West End)
Educational institutions
Embassies
Government buildings (mainly around Whitehall)
Hotels
Institutes, learned societies and think tanks
Legal institutions
Media establishments
Places of entertainment: theatres, cinemas nightclubs, music venues, bars and restaurants
Shops
The annual New Year's Day Parade takes place on the streets of the West End.

London 4K - Scenic Villages - Driving Downtown - England

Thursday afternoon drive in scenic North London in the Camden Borough through the towns of Camden Town, Hampstead, Golders Green, and Highgate.

Camden Town, often shortened to Camden, is a district of northwest London, England. The area's industrial economic base has been replaced by service industries such as retail, tourism and entertainment. The area now hosts street markets and music venues that are strongly associated with alternative culture.

Laid out as a residential district from 1791 and originally part of the manor of Kentish Town and the parish of St Pancras, London, Camden Town became an important location during the early development of the railways, which reinforced its position on the London canal network.

The London Borough of Camden is a borough in north west London, and forms part of Inner London.

London 4K - Main Street - City Of London - Driving Downtown - England

Tuesday afternoon drive into the City Of London, a major meeting point for businesses worldwide. Throughout the 19th century, the City was the world's primary business center. Highlights include entering the city on the A10 roadway, the London Wall road, once the defensive wall first built by the Romans around Londinium, and ending near the intersection where the Bank of England is located.

The City of London is the primary central business district (CBD) of London. The City is now only a tiny part of the metropolis of London, though it remains a notable part of central London.

The City of London is widely referred to simply as the City (differentiated from the phrase the city of London by capitalizing City) and is also colloquially known as the Square Mile, as it is 1.12 sq mi (2.90 km2) in area. Both of these terms are also often used as metonyms for the United Kingdom's trading and financial services industries, which continue a notable history of being largely based in the City.

About three quarters of the jobs in the City of London are in the financial, professional, and associated business services sectors.

A secondary financial district exists outside the City, at Canary Wharf.

London is the capital of and largest city in England and the United Kingdom, with the largest municipal population in the European Union.  London is considered to be one of the world's most important global cities and has been termed the world's most powerful, most desirable, most influential, most visited, most expensive, innovative, sustainable, most investment friendly, most popular for work, and the most vegetarian-friendly city in the world. London exerts a considerable impact upon the arts, commerce, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, professional services, research and development, tourism and transportation. London ranks 26 out of 300 major cities for economic performance. It is one of the largest financial centres and has either the fifth or sixth largest metropolitan area GDP. It is the most-visited city as measured by international arrivals and has the busiest city airport system as measured by passenger traffic. It is the leading investmentdestination, hosting more international retailers and ultra high-net-worth individuals than any other city.
