Traditional Portable Habitation | Mongolian Yurt, Ger

Traditional Portable Habitation | Mongolian Yurt, Ger
Mangolina Yurt or Ger, is portable, bent dwelling structure traditionally used for thousands of years by the nomads of Central Asia and is still a common sight in many countries. with its unique design, structure and practical features, the yurts are attracting interest from people in many parts of the worlds as an ecologically friendly and attractive living space that can be used for a variety of purposes. The yurt has a wooden frame, the assemble of which is made without the use of metal. It is iposed from theoutside, sometime in two layers, felt felted over which wound tissue that protects the felt fro rain and snow. Fabric yurt richly decorated with embroidery and applique. Particularly bright and distinct pattern adorned felt curtain entrance. The doors always face south. This feature allowed the nomadic yurt installation accurately tell time. Sunbeam, getting in yurt through the upper hole, sliding grating wall during daylight hours passed around the perimeter of the inner wall of the yurt. At the location of the solar beam the whole day from sunrise to sunset was divided into 29 time periods corresponding to the vertical frame tent poles. For simplicity time-stamp sometimes used the expression — when the sun seemed on the bed, sun lit floor of the yurt, etc.
Yurt is easily transported, assembled and disassembled. The entire operation of disassembling it takes an hour, but in the assembling - maximum two hours. Such efficiency during assembling and disassembling is achieved by the fact that all parts of the yurt of any size has a characteristic modular system it worked out and tested by life itself for centuries. The skeleton is made up of walls interconnected folding wooden trellis KHAN which determine the size and capacity of the dwelling. Each grid, part of the common wall, consists of flat strips, overlapping oblique cell and fastened with rawhide thongs. Due to the fact that these rails are compressed or stretched like an accordion, it is possible to reduce or increase to the desired height or folded its tent during migrations.
However, the outer covering of yurts can have many different designs and decorative elements, some of them very stylish. The interior decoration can be sustained in both the traditional and more familiar to European style. They are used in the construction of campsites, from the most basic to luxurious, built several sets of different celebrations, with separate standing tow-meter wide yurt connect passes etc. As rooms for meetings and business meetings. As separate banquet halls. All produts are made by and hand, without the use of modern technology.

Mongolian real life - Part 1

Living with locals in yurts in a Mongolian village – slow tourism

Living with locals in yurts in a Mongolian village – slow tourism in the middle of the overwhelming nature of Mongolia – experience Mongolian wild-life like eagles, riding horses, traditional cooking,
trekking together.
Here is the link for donation:

During one year travelling the world, we visited Mongolia. We lived together with a Mongolian family in a remote village in the Western part of the country for a while. The father of the family, who isn’t a pastoralist but a studied economist knows English which is quite rare in Mongolia. He used to manage a horse ranch. Unfortunately, the project funds will expire in 2016. He needs to create another source of income to secure his family’s existence. There are ten of them living together in his family. Our hearts open up if we’re thinking about them. They are inspiring in terms of their positive approach to life and their will to live. We have been impressed by their vibrant energy to change their lives and give it meaning. There is no social security and no financial support at all. The life in Mongolia is tough and meager. The summer is short, the winter very long. That’s why we want to support this family to implement their business idea.
They want to create an adventure place for individual travelers. You will live in yurts next to a beautiful mountain lake getting to know the rough Mongolian life in an open landscape. You will learn how to extract vodka from horse milk, how to prepare traditional nomadic food. You will experience the Altai Mountains on the back of one of the last living wild horses, called Przewalski, and also observe their pet eagles hunting. Mongolia is a vast and beautiful landscape. You will vividly experience and live with the family, who is guiding all the activities on their own. This experience will change your life. All activities take place during spring and summer, as well as swimming lessons for kids, ice-skating and ice-hockey for all ages in the winter at a nearby lake.
It is not just a social project for the family but for the whole community. Everybody will be involved working as guides or assistants. This project will create new opportunities for the remote village and its community who live in this challenging environment. The project is 100% based on the family’s idea. They want to make it happen with dedication and toil. As a matter of fact their future life is dependent on the success of this project.
Buying four yurts and creating the tourist infrastructure, as well as all the equipment like beds, cookery, sanitary facilities, electricity and water supply, need an initial investment of 15000 USD. Please support this family so that they can start implementing this awesome tourist experience next spring. Thank you!
Please be one of the first Western people to live with these beautiful nomads and experience how fulfilling a life of originality can be.

Inside a Mongolian yurt

A ger (yurt) in Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, Mongolia.

Mongolian Yurt - Sleeping 13 nights in a Ger camp

Northwestern's Adventures in China - Yurt village - Part 3

While studying abroad in Beijing in summer 2010, some of my classmates and I went to Inner Mongolia during the one-week break we had midway through the quarter. We stayed in yurts (traditional Mongolian tents) for two days and a hotel for two days. This is part 3 of a tour of the yurt village.

The Large Mongolian Yurts

Our large Mongolian yurts (between 16' and 20' diameter) can sleep from 3 to 5 people comfortably. Want an amazing view of the Church Pond and the Atlantic Ocean? Or maybe you are looking for something a little bit secluded in the woods for privacy? We have the perfect yurt waiting just for you.

Glamping in a Traditional Mongolian Yurt in Regional Victoria

Why buy gifts when you can buy a night glamping in a traditional yurt overlooking the King Valley in Victoria, Australia. For my birthday this year, we took it down a notch and enjoyed a mini-escape in our backyard.
