In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we spend the last few days with our friends from home onboard. Whilst the lads are out surfing, the girls are tired of standing behind the cameras and make their own fun, living the hammock life!

Bonita and Tash are taken to the playful wave of Bengs Bengs to try and get a few amongst the masses. We then have a minor problem where the captain did not prepare the boat properly before leaving... What a good excuse to have a beach bomb fire and cook in the coals with our last night with friends on board before over night sail back to Padang to drop Tash and Teebs off to the airport.

With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra where we are living the island life and chasing the surf before our big crossing!

We departed Australia in July 2017 and have since explored some amazing countries, met some beautiful people and experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades AROUND THE WORLD!

SAILOR GIRL LIVES WITH MENTAWAI TRIBE | Sailing Indonesia (Sailing Nandji) Ep144

Bonita goes on a solo mission DEEP into the Jungle to live with the remote traditional Mentawai Tribe

In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we decide we want to challenge our selves as our sailing plans have changed. So Bonita leaves Nandji on a solo mission into the jungle to live with the remote Mentawai Tribe who live and follow their traditional ways. She leaves Yosh all alone on Nandji who in the next episode performs his first ever offshore overnight solo sail.

Bonita heads deep into the jungle on Siberut island to watch and learn how the traditional tribe live. She stays with the Shaman Cookie, who invites her into his home and shows Bonita some of the daily tasks of living in the Jungle. Cookie teaches the ways of collecting and eating insects, how to make poison arrows to kill animals and goes fishing in the stream with a local lady. This is an experience of a life time as she is the first girl to travel solo to the remote tribe and live amongst them. What a brave lady!

With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra where we are living the island life and chasing the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we are returning to Thailand in the coming months and then taking the northern route of the Indian Ocean to the Andaman islands and onto Sri Lanka before heading south to Chagos and across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trades begin again!

We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since explored some amazing countries, met some beautiful people and experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! SAILING to SURF, the Search is Real! | Sailing Indonesia (Sailing Nandji) Ep 139

Living out our dreams of Sailing to remote Indonesia in the search for the perfect wave.

In this episode of Sailing Nandji, the boat yard is just a distant memory as we set sails down the West Coast of Sumatra in the search for waves. WE clear into Indonesia in Sabang and then head on down the coast, collecting a couple of young Aussie surfer lads as we go. We decide to take them along for a ride and head to the island of Nias. We had left Uncle and Bob back in Langkawi and arriving into the bay we were greeted with only these two vessels anchored in the calm lagoon. With a run of swell on the way, the lads get busy in the pumping left hander out the front. It was fun to try and remember how to surf again after months of not surfing!

Worn out and hungry from a few days of practicing our surfing skills and combing the beach, we head into the weekly markets and show a little inside into village life. The sleepy quite town all week has barely noone around, but come market day it is a bustling metropolis! This is the first time we have seen Bat on the menu...

With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia and finally arrived to the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the next big adventure. The work is now complete and off we go to Thailand on our way to Indonesia.

Limping up the Malacca Strait, the Final 400nm (Sailing Nandji) Ep 116

Our boat is broken and we have 400nm to get to the boat yard, will we make it?

Leaving the safety of the marina, we head out into the busy shipping area of the Malacca Strait. We have sailed and limped Nandji over 1600nm to get this far and now have a measly 400nm left to arrive to Langkawi and the ship yard where we can haul out and fix our beloved Nandji.

The Malacca Strait is one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world and has on average a ship entering or exiting its water every 6 minutes. We sail up the tight inshore designated traffic area squeezed between land and the shipping channel. With strong winds, heavy squalls, fishing nets and tons of little fishing boats to avoid and crossing the shipping lane into Kuala Lumper, this final 400nm was eventful you could say!

We are a young couple with a dog, who with no sailing experience, bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We have just sailed 2000nm through Indonesia and have arrived to Malaysia to complete major boat work, ready for the next big adventure. We departed Australia 18 months ago and have since explored some amazing countries, met some beautiful people and experienced different cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades!

The SPOOKY SECRET PIRATE COVE | Sailing Thailand (Sailing Nandji) Ep 136

Its a Pirates life and where do you hide your treasure? In the spooky secret cove of course!

In this episode of Sailing Nandji, after 3 long months in Langkawi, the day arrives where we can set some sails and depart onwards to our next adventure. Leaving Langkawi feels like such an accomplishment after working so hard on upgrading our vessel.

With hundred's of islands between Langkawi and Thailand, it would be rude of us not to explore some of these magical lands. The geography of the area is simply stunning and then reading about a secret pirate cove hidden away on one of these islands, we knew we had to investigate.

Needing to swim through pitch darkness for 80 metres through a bat ridden cave, at times the rock came so close to the waters surface you could barely sneak through without holding your breath. Then once you think your completely lost, you duck under the last rock ledge and emerge into the most beautiful pristine secret pirate cove.

The waters of Thailand were run with pirates years ago and this is where they hid their plunder. Behind the emerald light, to the place the eye can not see. TO find the light, you must first find the darkness... Arrrr

Thank you to everyone who has watched our videos and contributed to our new engine. It is all because of you legends we have been able to install this brand new engine and re-power Nandji. With all this boat work being complete our vessel is becoming indestructible as we get her ready for our next big trip across the Indian Ocean.

MAKING STRANGERS SMILE | Sailing Indonesia, Ep 154

With all the negativity in the world, it is pretty easy to make someone smile!

In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we are still at the island of Simeulue off the west coast of Sumatra. this sleepy laid back island is as close to a free range farm as you can get! With limited protected anchorages along this coast line, we explore the island by land. We hire a scooter and dodge all the farm animals and their land mines, as we take the hog down some jungle tracks looking for waves.
It is pretty easy to make a stranger smile. We have an old surfboard we wish to give away and we head down the beach in search of some grommets to pass it on to. It was actually harder to do then it sounds! But we perceiver and one lucky lad is the proud new owner of a surfboard!!

With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. Relationships ain't easy on a Boat | Sailing Indonesia, Ep 152

It can be super hard on your relationship to live on a boat. Some cold hard truth...

In this episode of Sailing Nandji, some cold hard truth. Relationships ain't easy on a boat. Sailing to super remote places like the islands off of Indonesia requires a solid relationship. We live in a small area of space, are always on top of one another. There is no escape and we are together all the time! How does that affect your relationship? Where do you go if you need to get some space or have an argument. You can't exactly sleep on the couch 2m away from your partner...

PIRATES! Are we about to get ATTACKED? | Sailing Indonesia, Ep 149

At 3 in the morning whilst at sea a vessel charges at us... Pirates? What do you do?

In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we are faced with every sailors worst nightmare. We are under sail on passage miles off the coast when a vessel charges straight at us. We gybe, change course and the vessel does the same thing and continually charges straight at us... What do you do? Pirates?

We have been sailing in Indonesian waters for the past 5 months and have now over the last 2 years sailed all the way through the Indonesian islands from East to West. We have not feared pirate attack, but should we have?

At the end of the last episode whilst happily sailing at 4 knots a boat charges at us and puts us under their spot light. What do we do? Lets discuss this situation and we would love to hear what you would do if in the same situation...

With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing to the Pacific! Elephants of Thailand (Sailing Nandji) Ep 123

With an afternoon off in Thailand, we visit the Ethical Elephant Sanctuary.

In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we are in Thailand! After needing a mountain of stainless steel fabricated for our refit of Nandji we decided to head to Thailand on Uncles boat as the craftsman ship is much better than Langkawi at a more affordable price. We set off for a week long trip and hoped to get everything made in the short time we planned to stay. After riding around on our scooters for over 4 hours a day chasing up and organising the work to be done, we found ourselves with an afternoon off in Phuket!

Bonita had heard of an ethical Elephant Sanctuary where they care for old disabled elephants. The sanctuary buys the Elepahnts from around Thailand from people who mistreat and abuse the elephants and then offer them a safe natural place for them to live in their normal habitat. Having no idea where to go, we set off on our scooter trying to find and learn more about this amazing place!

With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! MARLEY, the Sailing Whippet | Sailing with a dog, How we do it! (Sailing Nandji) Ep 138

Sailing with a Dog, We Do it! Life wouldn't be the same without our crew member!

In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we give some information about our pet dog MARLEY the Sailing Whippet. We have been sailing offshore for 2 years now and have lived on our boat for 3 with our dog.

We are often asked many questions about Marley and hopefully this answers the difficult ones like, Where does he wee and poo? Doesn't that dog need lots of exercise? Why is he so skinny?

We take you through a bit of day in the life of Marley and what we do to keep him happy and safe whilst we are sailing. It is a big decision to sail offshore and visit other countries with your dog or pet and we plan to break down the information and inform you more about our choices and why we brought Marley along for the ride!

Indian Ocean here we come!!

Sneaky Getaway to Thailand... The COSTS of a Refit $$ (Sailing Nandji) Ep 122

Needing to get a heap of things fabricated for our refit, lets go to the land of GSD (Get Sh$t Done)

In this episode of Sailing Nandji, our refit is moving forward in leaps and bounds. With the engine room overhauled and the bow rebuilt, we have run into a wall as Chinese New year fast approaches and majority of the businesses in Langkawi shut down for 2 weeks. The lead up to the New year everyone was in holiday mode already and we could not get anything built. Uncle Kevin to the rescue!!! We load up his vessel with everything needed to be remade and a list of items needed to be purchased and off we go sailing to Thailand!

With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific!

Rough Seas, Strong Winds! Hang onto your knickers! (Sailing Nandji) Ep 102

Huge Rough Seas, Strong 30 knot winds on the nose, all makes a difficult up wind Offshore 400nm passage!

This video is a in depth view of what life at sea is really like and the problems faced at all hours of the night.

This week on Sailing Nandji, the time has come to depart the beautiful island of Wayag. The upwind passage of 400nm to the city of Ambon was no easy task. The strong trade winds however had been howling through the area for over a week and showed no sign of easing. We put on our PFDs and big boy pants and tackled the rough seas. With strong winds of 30 knots on the nose, it made for some challenging sailing at first. Then days into the passage, the wind disappears and we are left with our broken motor drifting at sea for days...

NANDJIS NEW MOTOR

If you wish to contribute towards our campaign of getting Nandji a new engine in 2 months time, then please donate to the link below! Shhh my real name is Jarrad! Thanks for the help in making this project of ours a reality!

We are a young couple with a dog, who with no sailing experience, bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We have been in Indonesia for a couple of months cruising and our now high tailing to Malaysia for boat work. We departed Australia 18 months ago and have since explored some amazing countries, met some amazing people and experienced cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of no where, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades! Indian Ocean next!

#HolidayInMotion #OsmoAction #DJI #ad

This is a total different video than the usual Sailing Nandji video blogs that you are used too! We were offered the opportunity to play around with the new Osmo Action camera from DJI and give it a review. We thought this opportunity too much fun to pass up on and went out for an adventure around the island of Phuket in Thailand.

We leave Nandji and hire a Scooter and ride up to the Big Buddha on top of the hill over looking the Chalong anchorage. We then ride down to Kata beach which is a beautiful white sandy beach. The sun was shinning and it was hot! The most important item to take to any beach is a pointless blow up toy, we tick that box and go floating and swimming in the shallows. It was a great fun and we really enjoyed the opportunity to test out and play with this camera!

With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we have returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south to Chagos and across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! The adventure is just beginning as we plan to sail our Nandji around the world!!

We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World!

DIY Gel Manicure on a Sailboat - Bikinis & Martinis

Bikinis and Martinis has moved to its own YT Channel: (please subscribe!)

Want to know how easy it is to do your own gel nails? In this short video, I share with you some of my tricks and tips from soak off and removal technique, to proper prep and painting. And let’s not forget the impact of light!

For even more tips and tricks and a longer, more detailed explanation, head on over to our Patreon channel for exclusive access.

See below for a list of all products I used in this video.

Bikinis & Martinis is the video series for the ladies, and covers topics ranging from emotional health to physical well-being, from the point of view of Lisa, a novice sailor who works full-time from their Lagoon 440 Catamaran.

Shot on location from wherever they are, Lisa knows first hand that it’s not always bikini’s and martini’s when you choose to live your life at sea. In fact, sometime’s it’s doing laundry in a bucket, dirty hair, sticky skin, and dragging anchor. But when the sun is shining, the seas are calm, and the boat isn’t broken, it is magical.

Come join me on this journey to hear first hand how it feels, and in this case, how I make my hands look and feel pretty with a gel manicure. The content is unscripted, just real, raw, and honest.
