Life in Palestinian WEST BANK ???????? | Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Jericho & Dead Sea

This West Bank vlog is about ordinary Palestinians and their lives. What is living in Bethlehem, surrounded by an eight metre wall, like? My interview with Claire Anastas elucidates the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. This short video doesn't claim to have answers to the complex issues in the region, it just shares one woman's experience.

If you'd like to learn more about the conflict between Israel and Palestine, I recommend this list:

My personal favourite is a novel called Mornings in Jenin by Susan Abulhawa. She skilfully portrays Israelis and Palestinians across generations - it's one of the best fiction books about the conflict I've read.

Journey Through Palestine - Travel Documentary

Palestine means a lot of different things to many people, and may not be the most obvious travel destination. It is often associated with conflict and political unrest, overlooking the fact that it’s also a beautiful and fascinating region, with a vibrant culture, incredible historic landmarks, spectacular natural scenery, inspiring religious sites, tasty food, and friendly, welcoming people.

On this journey, I’m traveling through the Holy Land, a region important to the three main monotheistic religions, and known today as Israel and Palestine.

In this first episode, I’m exploring the West Bank, the largest and most accessible part of Palestine. From stunning natural scenery to intriguing historic sites. From the busy streets of Ramallah to the narrow alleyways of Nablus’ old city. From religious landmarks in Hebron and Bethlehem to the ancient ruins of Jericho. Along the way, I meet some of the people that call this land home, and sample the local cuisine.

I’ll do so from a traveler’s perspective, focusing on the positive stories and things to do. But here and there I also mention the conflict between Israel and Palestine, since it has impacted the lives of many people in the region. For those interested in the politics and modern history of the region, however, I recommend to read, watch, and listen to as many different sources as you can.

This is my first long trip after the pandemic started, and I’m grateful for the chance to travel again. It’s also my second visit to the region. While much of the footage is from the end of 2021 (including the ‘vlog style’ parts), I’ll also use some background material from 5 years earlier.

Here’s a brief overview of the content in this video:

We start this journey in Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus Christ, with its impressive Church of the Nativity at its core. After visiting the church, I explore the streets around it, meeting people and eating food in the bustling bazaar. There are many other places worth your time in and around Bethlehem, including the Milk Grotto, an olive oil factory (press), Shepherd’s Fields, and the Mar Saba monastery, surrounded by arid mountains.

Hebron is the next stop, a city in the South of Palestine, and (among other things) famous for its glassblowing factories, and also the Tomb of the Patriarch, or Ibrahimi Mosque. The streets around this place are divided between the local Palestinian community and Israeli settlers. As a tourist, you can visit both areas. At the end of the day, my guide Salwa takes me to a traditional Palestinian restaurant, where we eat some delicious food.

We continue this trip in Jericho, regarded as the oldest city in the world. Located next to the Dead Sea, it’s also one of the lowest cities on our planet, and can get very hot in Summer. Other sights to visit around Jericho include the Dead Sea, Nabi Musa, Qasr-al-Yahud, and St George’s Monastery, built into a cliff in Wadi Qelt.

Getting lost in the narrow alleys of Nablus’ old city was among my favorite things to do. There’s a surprise waiting for you around every corner, and perhaps the best one was the Al Aqsa kunafeh store, which is said to make the best version of this Palestinian dessert, which is popular around the Middle East.

We finish this journey in Ramallah, a young and dynamic city, attracting people from around the region to find work and get educated. It’s a commercial hub with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, and provides a different perspective on this part of Palestine.

Walking Holiday in Palestine

Whatever you choose to call it -- Palestine; the Palestinian Territories; the Holy Land; the West Bank -- this ancient land remains one of the most fascinating - and controversial - places on the planet. On this 9-day trip - and in contrast to many other trips in the region - our aim is to travel (predominantly on foot) with neither a political nor a religious agenda, but instead with the aim of gaining an insight into the everyday lives and rich culture of the Palestinian people and experiencing a rarely seen side of the Middle East. My name is Marc Leaderman, I run the Group Tours department at Wild Frontiers, and in this video I am going to explain a little more about our 'Wild Walk In Palestine'.

After transferring from Tel Aviv airport, the tour starts in the old city of Nablus with its medieval souk and then travels slowly south as we walk from village to village, staying mainly with local families. From the fertile valleys of ancient Samaria we then skirt along the edge of the Rift valley and head down below sea-level to the shores of the Dead Sea before finally making our way through the Judean desert and on to Bethlehem and finally Jerusalem.
For anyone that enjoys really getting below the surface of a country, this must rank as one of the very best tours that we offer. Not only do we get to walk and talk with a whole range of Palestinians eager to share their stories, but by actually staying in some of their homes we also get the chance to experience a little of their daily life and their wonderful food -- this is not a trip for those looking to lose weight! In addition, for a trip which actually covers only a relatively small distance, the variety of the scenery and the sights is quite astounding. On one day we might find ourselves wandering through olive groves & deserted Roman hilltop towns and then having lunch with some refugees; on another we might pass Byzantine era churches in a desert wadi before having dinner with some Bedouin in their camp.
This is not a major trekking trip, but on most days there'll be at least 3-4 hrs of walking. And in fact many of the paths we take form part of the so-called Abraham Trail which National Geographic in 2014 voted as one of the world's best new walks. But, as with all our wild walks, there is a lot more to this trip just walking, and whether it's eating knafeh (a baked cheese dessert, drenched in syrup) from a street seller in Nablus souk, sampling a beer from Palestine's only micro-brewery in Taybeh or walking the millennia-old streets of Jerusalem's old city, this trip is guaranteed to leave you with many lifelong memories.
Despite having led trips all over the world, this trip remains one of my all-time favourites and I would unreservedly recommend the Wild Walk in Palestine to anyone looking for something which offers a glimpse into this rarely visited...and rarely understood, yet utterly welcoming and eternally fascinating part of the world.

???????? Palestine (West Bank): a travel documentary

#palestine #travel #documentary

This is our most difficult video. We found it impossible to visit Palestine without touching the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The guideline of our channel is to narrate with enthusiasm every place we visit because we believe that every corner of the world deserves to be visited, regardless of how many UNESCO sites it has. The beauty of the places derives from the experiences one experiences, not from the monuments or spectacular sunsets

In the West Bank our experience has been strongly influenced by the conflict which is very vivid with the wall and the Israeli settlements. We shaped our brief visit trying to understand more about it, going back in time to understand where it all begun

مشوار في مدينة نابلس | A day in Nablus ???????? (With Subtitles)

Spend the day with me in Nablus, or as many call it mini Damascus. During my day I had the goal of tasting every famous dessert including Kunafa, Tamriyeh, and Halaweh Bi Zalabyeh. Nablus literally has my favourite people who are naturally so funny and welcoming so I spoke with some of the locals to explain what makes Nabulsi Olive Oil Soap so special, as well as some information about Al-Hanbali mosque and Bab Alsaha Quarter.

Nablus | نابلس هالمرة غير

Enjoy the exclusive Nablus tour with us! ????

Request a location and we will pick you up on time to spend and share the beauty of Palestine. ????

Through the narrow alleys of the old market, you will discover the ancient mosques, turkish baths and olive oil workshops while enjoying the aromas of Turkish coffee, roasted nuts and spices.

We started our tour by exploring the old city of Nablus, and walking through its neighborhood. During the walk, we stopped by an olive oil soap factory and watched how the traditional soap is made. We continued walking until we got to the Turkish Hammam, and then stopped for a while to enjoy the famous Kunafeh at one of the popular shops.

Then we continued our tour and visited Jacob’s Well, Tomb of Joseph and Tel Balata, these places are really amazing!

We continued our walk until we reached the center of Nablus which is considered one of the biggest cities in Palestine. We walked in the streets and saw the Minaret square and clock which has been standing there since the Turkish era.

At lunch time, we took a break and spoiled ourselves with a delicious traditional Palestinian meal in Nablus.

Then, the walk continued along the old city and al-Khan where you can taste the perfect Palestinian deserts.
Our next destination, was Sebastia, one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in Palestine where are still visible the remains of the roman tombs, Hellinistic Tower, Severan Basilica and the Herodian gate towers. Its ancient name indicates a strong element of cultural continuity.

On the way back from Nablus, the journey was ended by visiting the House of Palestine” Beit Falasteen” that is inspired by Andre Palladio, and which promotes cultural heritage and friendship by generously hosting social activities.

At the end of day, everyone was wearing a big smile on his face with a great joy in the heart.

Our first tour to Nablus was incredibly interesting!

This is a tour unlike the rest! Follow our steps and enjoy the magic of Nablus????????????????

WEST BANK VLOG - PALESTINE WALL, MOUNT OF TEMPTATION (JERICHO), & RAMALLAH // PALESTINE TRAVEL VLOG

Visiting Palestine was one of the best parts of our time in the Middle East. We visited the Palestine Wall (the security wall between Palestine and Israel), the city of Ramallah, the baptism site of Jesus (the Jordan River), Mount of Temptation in Jericho, the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, and had lunch in the home of our guide, a local Palestinian. We chose to visit these sites with a tour group to make the most of our one day in the area and because we were not sure how safe it was to enter into Palestine. However, we felt completely safe in this wonderful country and absolutely loved our time in this beautiful land filled with so much history and so many important sites.

Our visit to the West Bank was incredibly educational and also very heavy. With only one day in the area, we wanted to learn as much as we could about the ongoing issues between Palestine and Israel and our guide did an extraordinary job teaching us. However, we ask anyone viewing this video to please watch videos made by people who are much better informed than we are about this conflict and the challenges faced by Palestinian's today. Although we learned so much during our time in the West Bank, we are not experts or historians and encourage you to take a few minutes to learn from those who are. We have included some links below to videos that we found really informative and may be a good place for you to learn more about this conflict as well.

We will leave you with our most significant takeaway from our day learning about Palestine and the ongoing conflict with Israel: this is not a religious conflict. To reduce this issue to one of Islam vs. Judaism would be erroneous. The conflict is political and we hope you keep this in mind as you watch our travel vlog and share in our journey of becoming educated on a matter of extreme importance.

Palestine on a Budget - Best of Nablus

Visiting Palestine's central highland and one of the oldest cities in the world, Nablus. We discover the Aslan flagstone factory, the Old City Market Souq, the Palestinian Coffee, the famous Nablus Soap Factory, the cheap local street food Ara'yes, Zalabia Kari, Halva, Kunafa, the ancient Hamam Al-Shefaa Turkish Bath House, and Sama Nablus Garden

WE WENT TO PALESTINE  ????????// VLOG 10

#Palestine #Jerusalem #Israel
We crossed into Palestine from Israel to visit the city of Bethlehem, the supposed birthplace of Jesus. Our driver, a local Palestinian man, told us about the plight of the Palestinians, and their struggles with the Israeli army. He then took us to the see the Israeli West Bank barrier, a wall which separates the West Bank from Jerusalem. We returned to Israel in the night after visiting the Banksy Museum.

Our perception of Palestine, a place of terrorism and violence (what we see in the media) was totally changed in the half day we spent there. The people were friendly, the city beautiful and the food delicious! We highly recommend it to anyone visiting the middle east.

Then, we spent 2 days exploring the old city of Jerusalem.

See what were up to daily:

Zahi Shaked A tour guide in Israel and his camera zahigo25@walla.com +972-54-6905522 tel סיור עם מורה הדרך ומדריך הטיולים צחי שקד 0546905522
My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.

Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.

In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)

Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, glide over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and see the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.
