Located on the westernmost front of Continental Europe, Lisbon is the capital and the largest city of Portugal. It is also one of the oldest cities in the world, and the second-oldest European capital city (after Athens). In 1755 a massive earthquake, and subsequent tidal wave and fire, killed 40,000 and completely destroyed much of the Lisbon lower central districts.
Our guided walking tour is about 4.66 miles (7.5 km) long, starts at Commerce Square (Praça do Comércio) and covers most attractions and historic sites of Lisbon.

Lisbon is the capital and largest city of Portugal, with an estimated population of 544,851 within its administrative limits in an area of 100.05 km2. Lisbon's urban area extends beyond the city's administrative limits with a population of around 2.7 million people, being the 11th-most populous urban area in the European Union. About 3 million people live in the Lisbon metropolitan area, making it the third largest metropolitan area in the Iberian Peninsula, after Madrid and Barcelona. It represents approximately 27% of the country's population. It is mainland Europe's westernmost capital city and the only one along the Atlantic coast. Lisbon lies in the western Iberian Peninsula on the Atlantic Ocean and the River Tagus. The westernmost portions of its metro area, the Portuguese Riviera, form the westernmost point of Continental Europe, culminating at Cabo da Roca.
Lisbon is recognised as an alpha-level global city because of its importance in finance, commerce, fashion, media, entertainment, arts, international trade, education and tourism. Lisbon is one of two Portuguese cities (alongside Porto) to be recognised as a global city. Lisbon is home to three companies in the Global 2000. It is one of the major economic centres in Europe, with a growing financial sector and one of the largest container ports on Europe's Atlantic coast. Additionally, Humberto Delgado Airport served 31 million passengers in 2019, being the busiest airport in Portugal, the third busiest in the Iberian Peninsula and the 20th busiest in Europe. The motorway network and the high-speed rail system of Alfa Pendular link the main cities of Portugal to Lisbon. The city is the ninth-most-visited city in Southern Europe, after Istanbul, Rome, Barcelona, Milan, Athens, Venice, Madrid and Florence with 3,539,400 tourists in 2018. The Lisbon region has a higher GDP PPP per capita than any other region in Portugal. Its GDP amounts to US$110.3 billion and thus $39,434 per capita. The city occupies the 40th place of highest gross earnings in the world. Most of the headquarters of multinational corporations in Portugal are located in the Lisbon area. It is also the political centre of the country, as its seat of government and residence of the head of state.
Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in the world and the second-oldest European capital city (after Athens), predating other modern European capitals by centuries. Julius Caesar made it a municipium called Felicitas Julia, adding to the name Olissipo. After the fall of the Roman Empire it was ruled by a series of Germanic tribes from the 5th century; later it was captured by the Moors in the 8th century. In 1147 Afonso Henriques conquered the city and since then it has been the political, economic and cultural centre of Portugal.

The Rossio became an important place in the city during the 13th and 14th centuries, when the population of the city expanded to the lower area surrounding the Lisbon Castle hill. The name rossio is roughly equivalent to the word commons in English, and refers to a commonly owned terrain. Around 1450, the Palace of Estaus, destined to house foreign dignitaries and noblemen visiting Lisbon, was built on the north side of the square. After the Inquisition was installed in Lisbon, the Palace of Estaus became its seat, and the Rossio was frequently used as setting for public executions. The first auto-da-fé took place in 1540.
In 1492, King John II ordered the building of one of the most important civil and charitative infrastructures in old Lisbon, the All-Saints Royal Hospital (Hospital Real de Todos os Santos). The Hospital was finished in 1504, during the reign of King Manuel I, and occupied the whole eastern side of the square. Old pictures show the façade of the Hospital to consist of a long building with an arched gallery. The portal to the chapel of the Hospital, facing the Rossio, had a magnificent façade in manueline style.
Near the northeastern corner of the square, actually in the neighbouring St Domingo Square, is located the Palace of the Almadas, recognisable by its early 18th century red façade. In 1640, this Palace was the meeting point of Portuguese noblemen who conspired against Spain and led to the independence of Portugal from Spanish rule. The building is also called the Palace of the Independence for this reason. The Convent of St Dominic was established in the 13th century by the Rossio. Their church was greatly damaged by the 1755 earthquake and was rebuilt in baroque style. Its façade dominates the small St Dominic square.

Human occupation of Castle Hill dates back to at least the 8th century BC, while the first fortifications built date back to the 1st century BC. C. the Christmas lights at Praça Luís Lisbon (Portuguese: Lisboa) is the capital of Portugal. This hilly,
coastal capital is located on the River Tejo which flows into the
Atlantic Ocean.
We start our evening tour on the grand Praça do Comércio, also
known as Palace Square in the city centre. From the Arco da Rua
Augusta onwards the streets are filled with people. We walk uphill to
the Cathedral 'Sé de Lisboa and enjoy the view further up at the
Miradouro de Santa Luzia.
One one the main attractions of Lisbon is the Castelo de S. Jorge.
We walk around this hilltop Moorish castle after sunset. Earlier in the
day it's worth a visit.
The sunlight goes away slowly so we head down to the central city
again, enjoy the Christmas decorations and make it also up to the
Bairro Alto with shops and more nightlife.
The streets are busy with peoplede Camões where we finish this
walk.

Porto 2022, Portugal Walking Tour (4k Ultra HD 60fps) – With Captions
We recorded this 4k ultra hd video during our trip to Porto, Portugal on July 2022.
Porto or Oporto is the second-largest city in Portugal and one of the Iberian Peninsula's major urban areas. Located along the Douro River estuary in northern Portugal, Porto is one of the oldest European centres, and its core was proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996.
Our guided walking tour is about 3.73 miles (6 km) long, starts at Luís I Bridge and covers most attractions and historic sites of Porto.

Walking in LISBON / Portugal ????????- Central City and Viewpoints Tour - 4K 60fps (UHD)
Lisbon (Portuguese: Lisboa) is the capital of Portugal. This hilly, coastal city is located on the River Tejo which flows into the Atlantic. Our evening tour of Lisbon starts right at the waterfront.
We walk across the grand Praça do Comércio, also known as Palace Square in the city centre and have a stroll around the busy Rua Augusta in December 2019.
On our way we see the Santa Justa Lift, Praça Dom Pedro IV and Praça Marim Moniz shortly thereafter. Now it's time to get uphill to enjoy views over Lisboa.
We take the Escadinhas da Saúde and find the Miradouro da Graça for a sweeping view over the city. We also have a peek into the chruch Igreja da Graça when we are there. Another viewpoint is a bit further up - Mirador Nuestra señora del monte.
We made it, so we can enjoy the sunset over Lisbon and end this evening tour of Lisbon.

Enjoy a relaxing and ultra smooth cinematic walking tour in downtown Lisbon, in June 2021.We start at the plaza of Restauradores, and make our way towards the iconic square of Rossio, passing along stunningly lit monuments and buildings, like Estação do Rossio train station and Teatro D. Maria II theatre. We take a close look at the famous lift of Elevador de Santa Justa, and go up the street of Rua Garrett, towards the historic area of Chiado, where you can see people out and about, enjoying Lisbon's nightlife! This was a beautiful night walk to record, and it’s the first of Zen Walks Cinematic walking videos. Hope you enjoy it! ????
