Auckland Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
With 1.5 million lucky people calling Auckland home, this North Island gem is the most populous city in New Zealand. Auckland tourism is quite diverse, giving visitors a bounty of choices for how to spend their time. The city marries modern buildings and art with nature, and the surrounding region has plenty of its own attractions to offer.
Auckland is called the City of Sails, boasting more boats per capita than anywhere else in the world. Nestled between two natural harbors, it’s no wonder residents and visitors alike enjoy spending time on the water. After a breakfast in Elliott Stables, take off on a boat cruise from downtown to explore the sights of Hauraki Gulf.
With your feet back on solid ground, enjoy Auckland sightseeing and shopping along Queen Street. Jet over to Ponsonby, which is considered one of the more hip neighborhoods in Auckland. When lunchtime rolls around, find your way to Devonport, a lovely harborside suburb where you can enjoy a seafood lunch.
With a contented stomach, spend some time at Auckland Domain, the city’s oldest park. Watch a game of cricket, walk through the Formal Gardens, or take a leisurely stroll through the mature trees. If you’re interested in even more of New Zealand’s natural landscape, head just outside the city for rolling hills, jagged cliffs, and forests with towering treetops. Walk through the Hauna Ranges and you’ll be rewarded with the Hunua Falls, an impressive waterfall rushing over a volcanic edge.
Visitors interested in adventurous Auckland tours must head to the downtown Sky Tower before leaving New Zealand. This is the tallest man-made building in the entire country – and it offers a breathtaking base jump from the top. If you’re not in the mood for that much adrenaline, head to the observation platform to take in sweeping views of the city and harbor.
What do you most look forward to doing in Auckland?

(( Wildlife )) - Costa Rica is world famous for having an incredibly high level of biodiversity throughout its tropical forests (this covers what you may hear referred to as rain forests, cloud forests, and dry forests). There are tropical mammals such as monkeys, sloths, tapirs, and wild cats as well as an amazing assortment of insects and other animals. There are many many birds (both migratory and resident) - more on that below. With 25% of the country being national parks and protected areas, there are still many places you can go to see the abundant wildlife and lush vegetation of the country. Just like anywhere, the farther you get off the beaten path, the more likely you are to see a wide variety of flora and fauna.
(( Bird Watching )) - One of the most wonderful activities for people who love nature is bird watching. You can enjoy bird watching in many areas of Costa Rica. Due to the great diversity of climates, temperatures and forest types in Costa Rica, there is a wonderful variety of birds, with over 800 species. Some helpful books available on bird watching are Birds of Costa Rica by F. Gary Stiles and Alexander Skutch (Cornell University Press) or An Illustrated Field Guide to Birds of Costa Rica, illustrated by Victor Esquivel Soto. These books can be found at certain bookstores in San José or before coming to Costa Rica. They are both heavy books; many people tear out the plates of the Stiles & Skutch book to carry into the field and leave the rest of the book in their car or room. Plastic cards with the most common birds are available for many areas and are sold at gift shops.
(( Volcanoes )) -Costa Rica is one of the most seismologicly active countries in the western hemisphere, and as a result several volcanoes have sprouted over the years- most notably volcanoes Poas, Irazu, and Arenal.
Santiago Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
Santiago de Chile, a city of extremes, is surrounded by the world’s longest mountain range, driest desert, largest ocean and southernmost grassy plains. The cosmopolitan South American capital has the perfect mix of both historic and ultra-modern attractions.
The lively Plaza de Armas houses the divine Metropolitan Cathedral and the National History Museum. Santa Lucía Hill is the place where the city was founded by the Spanish in the 16th-century and the Chilean Museum of pre-Colombian Art shows what life was like here before colonial rule.
La Moneda Palace is the seat of government and the place of Augusto Pinochet’s 1973 military coup. The Museum of Memory and Human Rights documents the dictator’s repressive regime.
Santiago has many city parks. Parque Bicentenario is in Vitacura, while the sculptures of Parque de las Esculturas are in Providencia. Centrally located Parque Forestal, houses the Museum of Contemporary Art. Nearby is Centro Cultural Estación Mapocho, in a former train station.
Find colorful street art, craft shops and sidewalk cafés in Bellavista. From this neighborhood, you can access Cerro San Cristóbal to look back at Santiago one more time before exploring Chile’s many natural treasures.

Travel video about destination Brazil.
Brazil is a country of both the superlative and also amazing contrast, with dynamic metropolises, cultural centres and untouched nature. It is the largest country on the South American Continent. We begin our journey in Rio De Janeiro, the secret capital of Brazil, a veritable firework display of unashamed joie de vivre, football, samba and religion. The focal point of today’s Rio is the monumental glass cone of the Catedral Metropolitana that measures eighty metres high and looks like a Mexican pyramid. The Rua Do Ouvidor, with its elegant old buildings and splendid shops, is a reminder of the city’s historical and commercial importance. Portuguese settlers founded the city and sugar cane and gold made Rio’s colonial rulers extremely rich. In former times the coastal towns were protected by fortresses and canons. Paraty was one of those romantic locations, south of Rio on the Costa Verde, a gem dating back to Brazil’s colonial times. Around five hundred kilometres north of Rio and deep within the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, is a most remarkable place. Ouro Preto was discovered at the end of the seventeenth century by Portuguese gold prospectors who discovered ‘black gold’ that changed colour due to its iron content. São Paulo is one of the mega cities of the twenty first century and with a population of twenty million it is the economic heart of Brazil. The railway helped to transport cotton and later coffee, and its large station, with British-designed clock tower, became an important symbol. Brazil is synonymous with sunshine, samba and exotic nature, a dream destination full of both adventure and constant fun!

It is the world's most mysterious manuscript. A book, written by an unknown author, illustrated with pictures that are as bizarre as they are puzzling -- and written in a language that even the best cryptographers have been unable to decode. No wonder that this script even has a part in Dan Brown's latest bestseller The Lost Symbol.

Thanks to Frank and Jerry of Zouba Tours: for taking me around. I paid for this tour, but they did a great job and I would recommend them.
Kunming, Yunnan, China - Kunming is the capital and largest city in Yunnan province China. So I was excited to explore the local market in Kunming and eat as much street food as possible!
Here are all the Chinese street food dishes we ate throughout the market:
Rice pudding - 5 RMB ($0.76) - This was slightly fermented, and sweet, like a rice alcohol pudding. It was pretty good, but quite sweet, so I couldn’t eat that much of it.
Dumpling - 1 RMB ($0.15) - I saw these dumplings sizzling and hissing and there was no way I could walk by without trying one. Stuffed inside were leek and egg. They were a little on the oily side, but delicious.
Whole duck - 20 RMB ($3.03) - Yunnan is famous for roast duck, and there’s a version that’s comparable even to Beijing style. Style I was excited to find a stall that at the market that specialize in Yunnanese roast duck. It was delicious and the owners were very friendly as well.
Pickled pears - 5 RMB ($0.76) - This was an interesting snack, and supposed to be very healthy and good for digestion.
Drink - 2 RMB ($0.30) - This drink was incredible sweet, but refreshing.
Tofu Noodles - 5.5 RMB ($0.83) - Another extremely popular Chinese street food snack at the market was tofu noodles - I’ve had tofu and noodles, but not really mixed before. It was a little plain and starchy, but from all the sauces, it was taty.
Rice balls - 5 RMB ($0.76) - We also tried sesame rice balls which were delicious.
Jacuzzi braised ½ chicken - 15 RMB ($2.27) - This was one of the highlights of the market for me, mainly because the owner was so friendly and his giant jacuzzi of boiling chickens was amazing to see! The chicken was a little bony, but flavorful.
Yellow soybean porridge - 3.5 RMB ($0.53) - As we were leaving the market, we stopped for one last bowl of soybean porridge to eat with youtiau, Chinese donuts. I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I did, but it was delicious. It was very warming and hearty.
Finally to complete this Chinese street food tour in Kunming, Jerry and I, along with his family ate Chinese Yunnanese bbq. It was tasty and a great way to end this amazing day of street food.
Special thanks to Zouba Tours ( for arranging everything in this video. I paid for this tour, but I think they did a great job, and I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the tour.
That completes Day 4 of this Chinese food tour of Yunnan. If you haven’t already, watch the full series here:

10 Best Places to Visit in Poland.
Life has not been easy for Poland, an eastern European country that has been invaded and destroyed many times over the centuries. The country suffered mightily in World War II when many of its citizens, including its large Jewish population, were hustled off to Nazi concentration camps. The Polish spirit, however, refused to die and today the country combines medieval architecture with lively cultural activities to meet the needs of modern tourists. An overview of the best places to visit in Poland:

MOST Beautiful Outdoor Attractions in Chile
This South American country is famous for its lush landscapes and beautiful natural formations that bring in visitors from all over the world. Here are just 19 of the best sights to see in Chile’s great outdoors.
10. Caburgua Lake
If you’re near the city of Pucón, you can find the Caburgua Lake about 23 miles to the east, part of the Toltén River basin. Recently, visitation to the lake has blossomed as it serves as a popular place for famous people to go and relax. The lake itself has a surface area of 53 km squared, or 20 sq miles, which makes it the perfect place for seclusion and a lot of room for people to have their space and swim.
9. Chungará Lake
Chungará Lake is located in the northernmost region of Chile and is part of the Lauca National Park (more on that later). The lake has a surface elevation of 14,820 ff, making it the 31st highest lake in the world.
8. Valle Nevado
This is yet another location part of the Andes Mountains and is less than 50 miles away from Santiago, the capital city of Chile. The ski resort has an elevation of 5,430 m or 17,815 ft high. The snowy area was turned into a ski resort back in 1987 and has been bustling with lots of skiers ever since. Just 4 years ago, the resort introduced the first mountain cable car in the country.
7. El Tatio
That’s the Tatio Geysers, as in plural, and they have been active for over 80 years. The geyser field is also found in the area of the Andes Mountains, with it’s name translating to mean “oven” in Quechua. The land is about 4,320 meters above sea level, which makes El Tatio one of the highest elevation geyser fields on earth.
6. Lauca National Park
There’s all sorts of outdoorsy stuff to see at the Lauca National Park, which also borders the Sajama National Park in Bolivia. One of the most notable sights you’ll see in a lot of tourist pictures are llamas and alpacas running around the hilly grass fields. The national park is home to over 140 species of birds as well as over 400 species of higher plants.
5. Conguillío National Park
Yet another national park in Chile that’s famous. Declared as an official national park in 1950, at Conguillío, you can catch sight of Sierra Nevada volcano and another volcano known as Llaima which last erupted on New Year’s Day in 2008, and what are known as Monkey Puzzle Trees. If that doesn’t sound like an assortment of landmarks to visit, that what does, to be honest? Hiking is a flourishing activity in the area, too,
4. Ojos del Salado
For all those super into mountain climbing and hiking, Ojos del Salado should probably be on your to visit list, especially if you’re really into the thrill seeking side of it as it’s also the highest active volcano in the world, with an elevation of 6,890 m or 22,605 ft high. As far as volcanic activity goes, the most recent eruption was well over 1,000 years ago, with ash emission having been detected 24 years ago. Despite it’s last eruption being centuries ago, it is still considered an active volcano.
Chile is a place riddled with volcanos and lakes, and another famous one to visit is Villarrica, which is both a lake and a volcano. It is among the country’s most active volcanoes, and is more than 700 miles away from the country’s capital. It’s name translates to “a place of wealth” and remains a place popular for hiking--with it’s most recent eruption having been in 2015.
2. Marble Cathedral
The Marble Cathedral is a natural formation can be found in General Carrera, the second largest freshwater lake in South America. Located more specifically in Patagonia, Chile, this cave has drawn lots of attention to itself for its marble motif which was created by melting glaciers that drained into the lake from the Pacific Ocean. And not only is the stone something to marvel at, but the water flowing in from the lake appear shades of crystal blue--depending on the time of year and the way the light reflects off the water.
If Chile’s anything, it’s apparently the perfect place for some great outdoor photo ops. One of those places being La Portada, which is the natural stone arch located on out on the waters on the coast. The arch is only part of the appropriately named La Portada Natural Monument area, which spans nearly 80 acres. The beach it’s located near is also a natural marvel, with jagged rocks peaking up from the shore as well as a line of white and golden cliffs that make it seem like some surreal and ideal secluded daydream.
