Romania, Village Life in Transylvania

A beautiful little documentary of village life in Gyimes, in the South Eastern Carpathians in 2018. Ancient, vernacular, small farm-houses line the stoned side roads on which horse-drawn vehicles carry logs, hay, stone and people this way and that all day long. Most people live by small-scale farming producing their own honey, cheese, bread, veg and fruit, milk and meat. Water is always from the well, pure, sparkling and cold. Cows and sheep wear bells and high above the village the mountain meadows hum with insect life while the extraordinarily rich flora remains untouched by sprays and chemicals.
Szekler people, Romania's Hungarian speaking minority live in Gyimes, which now lies within Bacau county. The history of the area and its association with Transylvania, is very complicated .... I am no historian and apologise for any errors I have made.
Enjoy the film, all taken with a little, hand-held Panasonic HC X920.

Village life in Romania

At least once a year I try to visit my grandmother that lives in Romania.
She lives in a small village called Popesti and its surrounded by a river and mountains. They still drive carriages with horses, collect water from the well and the roads are unpaved.

This time I visited the village with questions. Does everybody feel the same serenity that I feel? Or maybe its just a fairy-tale that I created in my mind because I am here for just a short time and then I will leave again.

I believe this video will make you experience the authentic life of Romania through the stories and feelings of locals.

Romania - Village Life in Maramures and the narrow gauge steam train, the Mocanita

A lovely little 2019 documentary of life in rural Maramures, a district in northern Romania, where life is un-hurried, pastoral and green. Everyone was making hay, beautiful, herb and flower-filled, heaven-scented hay. Some was piled onto wooden racks to dry, some piled onto small haystacks ready for the winter.
Horse drawn vehicles are a common sight, loaded with logs, hay and people. Sheep and cattle wear tinkling bells and every small farm has a pig or two.
A trip up the Vaser valley on the Mocanita steam train, the last working timber railway in Europe, was very special and not without excitement in the form of a derailment!
We pedalled around on bicycles, at a gentle pace, soaking up the gorgeous scenery, wonderful country smells and happy smiles.
All filming was with my much-travelled, hand-held Panasonic HC X920.

LIFE IN A TRADITIONAL ROMANIAN VILLAGE IN BREB ???????? UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE! (????: Maramures, Romania)

Breb has to be added to your Romania itinerary!

The Maramures region in Romania is so beautiful! We really have to go back and explore more if it. Breb is one of those places where time goes by slower and you are forced to enjoy the little things. We loved walking the 'streets' of Breb, saying hi to everyone, playing with every single animal we crossed paths with, learning about their culture and values and just being there... it may sound strange, but even though you're obviously a tourist, it feels like you're a part of something. And it's very special ????

It's fascinating to us to learn and see how other people live. It really changes you. And it's the best part of traveling ❤️

Thanks for being here guys! We can't believe we're almost done with the Romania videos :(

If you have any questions, please let us know. We mean that! We're always happy to help!

XO,
Aimara & Gordon

Danube Delta in Romania: Everyday Life in a Typical Village

In the furthest eastern corner of Romania, along the border to Ukraine, the River Danube flows into the Black Sea. It splits into three large tributaries, between which countless lakes and waterways form the largest reed bed in Europe – the Danube Delta.
It is a remote life and many areas can only be reached by boat, a reason why there is no industry here. Most of the people that live here are self sufficient and live off whatever the Delta or their own gardens offer.

We entered North Macedonia - Day 14 / Balkan Motorcycle Tour 2023 - TransALP 650

On the 14th day of our motorcycle tour through the Balkans, June 2023... we left after 8 days through Albania, in North Macedonia. We hiked a bit through the Galicica National Park and took in the scenery towards Lake Ohrid...then we visited a unique place for us, the Bay Of The Bones Museum...a special location with thousands of year old houses. During the day, we followed some very smooth, winding roads that took us along the Black Drin river. Towards the end of the day we also got to see a bit of the Matka Canyon... to end the day in Skopje at a very nice accommodation... Studio K2, where we were surprised to hear that On Her Bike (Kinga) was already stayed there 6 times from 2018 until now.

#1EurochallengeForTheNewTransalp

My story as a motorcyclist started from my early childhood. Since I was only a few years old and my brother Atti (10 years older) would put me on the tank of his small 70cc motorcycle and let me pull the throttle...
Anyway, I think it was also genetic, since the time when my parents were traveled along of Romania in the 70`s, with their bike called Mobra 50cc.
At the age of 9 I acquired my first 49cc Yamaha Mint scooter.
One day, in 2005 my brother bought the 2001 TransALP 650, with 2145km. And from there his love story for TransALP but also mine, began!
At the age of 19, In October 2007 - I managed to complete the motorcycle driving school.
Just a few days later, the search began for my new motorcycle... which obviously had to be a TransALP! I had a maximum budget of 2000 Euros.
After further searches, we found in our city in Arad, Romania...
A TransALP 600cc, from 1992, green, with 64,500km, 1950 Euros.
The best life I could have started. From Oct 2007 to the end of 2010 I did about 50,000 km.
In that time the TransALPs bloomed like mushrooms after the rain. Somehow I became an unofficial TransALP Romania ambassador. We already had our gang and community of TransALPs. Many tours together followed, official annual meetings around the country.
After 2010, things changed, some personal, familiar problems appeared. And life took a completely different turn.
In all these years (2010-2016 aprox) this passion for motorcycle trips has dwindled drastically...

In 2020 I decided to resurrect my YouTube channel - Lutzifer Videographer. Channel established on March 1, 2008.
The years passed, and I had around 700 uploaded videos. Unfortunately, at that time I did not know how important the copyright of the songs is. 90% of my clips were either restricted or worse, blocked!
My decision was to delete everything and have it from scratch, on the same channel. But now it comes the time to make a new channel only for Motorcycle Travel and Exploring this beautiful world!
From 2020 I knew that going forward, this is my dream. To travel as much as I can by motorcycle. They are phasing them out with the neighboring countries and they are moving forward...step by step.
For the last 3 years I have been struggling to find a balance between Money - Free Time.
Even if we try to find the cheapest option, starting from accommodation, until two people eat a single portion of food, however, it costs.
Since I was a little kid, my dream was that one day to have a new motorcycle with which I can see the world. In addition to the fact that riding a motorcycle gives me personal satisfaction, I am even more happy when I can inspire others to do the same.
In the year 2021, after a long and complicated story, the whole family was left stranded and homeless. Moment when everyone went where they could, because life goes on. We're not complaining, some things are meant to happen to find a different path in life. Everything happens for a purpose!
And what I am about to tell you is not a begging, because from my point of view it is not about money, but about the power of people and the power of example.
After several clips, pictures, presentations, information about the new Honda TransALP 750 motorcycle appeared... I liked it a lot!
In 16 years of being a Honda TransALP owner and about 140,000 km traveled with two models (600/650), my heart still pulls towards the TransALP. Even though the market is full of many other similar models and brands.
The challenge is to reach 10,000 people who donate at least 1 Euro, as soon as possible!
The entire story is much longer...

Then we'll head into Transylvania, where we'll visit fortified churches, cobbled merchant towns like Sighișoara, and castles made famous by an imported German king and the real-life Dracula. LIVING OFF-GRID in Romanian countryside ????????

We visited our friend, @AlexJurj who has been living off grid in a Romanian countryside in Cluj-Napoca. He has a farm, and is building his own earth house, grows his own veggies and fruits: tomatoes, pears, etc., and lives near the forest where mushrooms grow abundantly. He strives to live a sustainable life where everything a human needs for survival is available in his own backyard. He had so much fun foraging for mushroom, and even had mushroom ciorba his mom cooked for us. Check out our vlog.

Brasov Romania Expat Life on $1,500 (Cost of Living & Quality of Life in Romania 2022) British Expat

In today's video we visit with British Expat Andrew who calls Brasov Romania home. The city of Brasov is Romania's 7th largest city with a metro area of 382,000 people. Brasov and surrounding communities have many foreigners calling the region home due to the low cost of living and quality of life. The average US Retiree on Social Security receives $1,550 a month, and a couple on Social Security receives over $2,500 a month. A US Expat living on Social Security can expect a lower cost of living in Romania when compared to the living costs in the US.

Our Guest Andrew has a YouTube channel as mentioned, here is the link to Jenno's Whereabouts:

Currently the Romanian exchange rate is 4.66 Lei to $1.00 USD
