Life in ALEPPO, SYRIA (post war reconstruction)

This was the hardest video I've ever made.

I've spent the last 2 days in the Northern Syrian city of Aleppo, which was once a hotspot on the ancient Silk Road and the economic and cultural capital of Syria... until the war destroyed this city into pieces beginning in 2012.

Literally, as I walked around Aleppo, I have never seen so much destruction in my entire life. Schools, hospitals, apartment complexes, parks, markets are left in ruins. It has been really hard to witness.

BUT, reconstruction of Aleppo is now in full swing, and that's what I have decided to focus on in this video. The markets are coming back to life, the street vendors are out, and shop owners are remodeling their stores to how they used to be a decade ago. Have I mentioned that Aleppo cuisine is considered the best in Syria (and trust me, it's the truth!)

Also -- the Aleppo Citadel (the oldest in the world) still remains in great shape and it was wonderful to explore, and see the 360 degree view of the city from the top.

If you enjoyed this video, I encourage you to share it with your friends and family. Get the word spread out that Syria is coming back, stronger than ever. More to come tomorrow!

Shocking Post-War Conditions Of The Country - Inside Homs, Syria ????????

Syria was one of the countries I visited at the beginning of my YouTube journey. When I posted my trip precisely two years ago, I had less than 10 thousand subscribers. I am resharing these videos for a wider audience now and sharing my experiences from Syria with my guide. Syria is a country that cannot be visited solo, and you have to have a guide assigned by the government for security reasons, but also, your trip details get reported to the government at the end of your trip by your travel agency. That is why I had a companion most of the time in Syria.

Twelve years ago, a peaceful uprising against the Syrian president escalated into a full-scale civil war. The conflict has caused the death of over half a million people, destroyed cities, and involved other countries.

The war has resulted in immense suffering for the Syrian population, with over half of the pre-war population of 22 million being forced to flee their homes. More than 6.8 million Syrians are internally displaced, with over two million living in tented camps and having limited access to basic services. An additional 6 million Syrians are refugees or asylum-seekers abroad, and countries like Lebanon, Jordan, and Turkey, which are hosting 5.3 million of them, have struggled to cope with one of the largest refugee exoduses in recent history.

As of the beginning of 2023, the UN reported that 15.3 million people in Syria required humanitarian assistance, which is an all-time high since the war began. Furthermore, 12 million Syrians did not know where their next meal was coming from.

Although the government has regained control of Syria's biggest cities, rebels, jihadists, and the Kurdish-led SDF still hold large parts of the country, and there have been no changes in the front lines for three years.

ALEPPO, SYRIA | What's It Like to Be a Tourist in ALEPPO?

Travelling to Aleppo was one of the toughest travel experiences I've had. The city and the people who call it home have gone through a nightmare in recent years.

I'm very lucky to have been able to visit Aleppo as an independent, foreign traveller and I hope that this video can convey some of what I experienced there, from my personal perspective.

Please note: this vlog documents my personal trip to Syria, as a tourist. It is not necessarily a travel recommendation, nor a commentary on the political climate, nor an attempt to show the ordinary life of Syrian citizens.

Thank you for watching! If you liked this vlog, come follow me on Instagram for daily updates from destinations that most other tourists don't go to:

Let's virtually explore Aleppo, Syria

What do you think of the new look? I am going to slowly change up branding.

Let's explore the world through Google Street View.

Today we are visiting Aleppo, Syria. This is an amazing ancient city, that has endured one of the most brutal civil wars of the 21st century. The destruction in large parts of the city, most clearly in the old part of town, is just horrific. I was pretty shocked at the views we could find in Google Maps. I am glad to see that in at least many parts of town life has returned to a new normal. There are new developments going up all around, and I read that reconstruction is taking place in parts of the damaged city.

Here you can check out where we have been on Google Maps.

Thanks to Google for Street View.

Przez Świat na Fazie - Aleppo - Syria

Fazowicze i Fazowiczki! Przed Wami mała zapowiedź ostatniego miejsca IV sezonu Przez Świat na Fazie i setny kraj poza Polską który odwiedzam w swoim życiu. Pozdrowienia z Aleppo w Syrii.

World snapshots: Syria – The old souks of Aleppo

Since earliest antiquity, a trading town halfway between the Mediterranean Sea and Mesopotamia in modern day Iraq, and once a staging post on the Silk Route, has been greatly sought after owing to its prosperity.
Aleppo in Syria has a turbulent history, having suffered multiple invasions, but it has always been able to rise again from its ruins.
Its 36 souks are the largest in the Middle East from the medieval period. Around 14km long and including six covered markets, this antique ‘shopping centre’ was particularly badly damaged during the events of 2012 to 2016.
Since 2018, the Aga Khan Trust for Culture has been working on a huge new type of humanitarian aid project in Al-Madinah.

A Day In Aleppo² [THIS IS THE REAL SYRIA] ????????

Be sure to LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, COMMENT AND SHARE!

ALEPPO:
A Syrian city that has been in the mainstream news A LOT lately due to the recent earthquakes and the utter destruction of the city earlier during the war. But is it really that dangerous and perilous at this moment as all of those news channels and government agencies do you lead to believe?

I had the honour of being able to roam the city. Together with YouTubers @MattandJulia our guides and drivers we took on the city. We met a lot of people, shook a lot of hands, shared laughs, tears, saw raw devastation and beautiful things alike. Above all: we tasted the REAL Aleppo. Decide for yourself if you want to go here and breathe this all in...

MUSIC IN THIS VIDEO:
• Ragheb Alama ft. Seyi Shay & Costi - Yalla Habibi
• Faran Ensemble - Dune
• Meditation in Desert (Part 3), Arabian Flute & Arabian Nights

Aleppo, At War But Safer Than Many Cities In The World

My second day in Aleppo, I took an early morning walk through the ruins of the city. At first I was feeling uneasy, what if I get jumped here or something, I thought. I was the only one walking around there for hours, but all I found was people living among the ruins collecting scrap metal, and everybody was overwhelming nice and friendly. I thought, this city is extremely safe, even though they have an ongoing war right by their door.
Have high hopes for Aleppo and Syria, can wait for them to have peace so they can start rebuilding their lives and country.

Aleppo Syria, the Old Quarter

Damaged by war, admiring the ancient buildings, dating back at least to the middle ages, and all gone in one bad decision, two warring differences, one people...

Walking in the City of Homs, Syria

After leaving Damascus this last March 9, 2020, the first city I visited on my way to Aleppo was Homs. Almost destroyed on its totality, but with signs everywhere of the spirit of the people rebuilding, painting, moving in, living!
The fire and bombardment ahead on our road to Aleppo, made us take a 5 hour detour through the north east to come into Aleppo from the north.
Aleppo was being bombed by Turkey, while the fighting near here, Homs was the rebels anti government, and Damascus was hit by missiles last night from Israel.
