FSM - Pohnpei - Hiking to Lehn Paipohn
If you enjoy a short and fairly easy hike to a powerfull waterfall, follow us on this great hike. Just 1 hour drive from Kolonia, a 30-45 min hike depending how far you can drive and there you arrive at a waterfall top with a short hike down to a big smimming pool. Contact the Pohnpei Visitors Bureau to arrange a guide. Filmed in April 2012.

The first day of 2020 felt so long ago! We had to sleep in because New Year's Eve was crazy! Afterwards we not only hiked Sokeh's rock but also jumped off one of the highest waterfalls in Pohnpei!

Pahn Takai Waterfall Pohnpei
The waterfalls of Pohnpei are one of the island's greatest assets and natural attractions. Since Pohnpei gets more than 400 inches of annual rainfall, confined mainly to the upper rain forest region, waterfalls are well-fed and seemingly always flowing with cool, fresh rain water.
The site name means beneath the rock and the nice hiking trail goes to the falls and then behind it where a cave literally allows the hiker to stand beneath the rock and look out from behind the falls. The trail itself has wild yams, sakau and taro and the cave has wild bats, which leave at dusk.
The Six Waterfalls
In Pohnpei at the Municipality of Kitti, there's this place called Salapwuk. Salapwuk is up on a hill. It has vehicular access up to and beyond the Salapwuk Elementary School. The area - is nothing short of a scene straight out of Lassie's backyard, if you will.
In Salapwuk is a hiking trail going to a series of waterfalls. This place has come to be known as 6 Waterfall's. The trail, if you're a skilled hiker (amateur and expert), it would take about 40 minutes to reach the first waterfall. For first time hikers (novice), it'd be best to try other hiking spots to hone your hiking skills before taking this challenge. Otherwise, it'll probably take from 1 hour to 2 hours to reach the first waterfall. For some miraculous boost in energy to see all 6 waterfall's, we decided to go on this trip with a group of friends. The result of the trip? Well, let's just say I'll try it again another day... and probably go alone this time ;)
FSM - Pohnpei - Mangrove Waterfall Adventure
By canoe or kayak follow us into the mangrove channels between Pohnpei and Sokehs Island to the Nankewi waterfall. At high tide, from Kolonia, go west under the Sokehs bridge and follow the Daumwokote channel ... Take a left turn when you reach the open side and turn left along the mangroves to find the new channel leading to a few yards from the waterfall pool. Filmed in April 2012.
