Leopard 43 Powercat
The fuel efficient Leopard 43 PC features a large flybridge which includes a grill, wet bar and direct access to the sunbathing platform found forward. Inside, the galley of this powercat is located forward and the forward-facing settee and table are now located aft. This layout, with sliding glass doors between the settee and aft cockpit seating area, plus a large window forward and access door to the bow, allow for nearly 360-degree panoramic views and create a feeling of continuous indoor-outdoor living space.

Le constructeur Robertson & Caine, fort de ses 30 ans d’expérience dans le powercat, lance un catamaran plus grand et plus confortable que le 43 PC – lequel quitte le catalogue. Le nouveau 46 emprunte le design de son grand frère, le 53 PC. Les carènes sont étudiées dès le départ pour une utilisation moteur. Les coques présentent de très grands hublots latéraux, tandis que les vitrages frontaux du rouf sont verticaux afin d’intégrer plus aisément la porte avant – tous ces vitrages sont en verre trempé pour une clarté maximale et un bon vieillissement. A l’intérieur, la nouvelle finition beige mat remplace le blanc brillant. Le 46 se décline avec 3 ou 4 cabines dont le confort a été particulièrement soigné – couchettes larges, confortables et accessibles par le côté, augmentation de l'espace au sol et éclairage intérieur amélioré. Les deux moteurs – 250, 320 ou 370 CV – sont complètement isolés de l'espace de vie. A vide, avec la motorisation la plus puissante, la vitesse max est de 25 nœuds – 20 nœuds en pleine charge. L’autonomie varie de 250 milles à 1 500 milles suivant la vitesse.

To replace the 39. Leopard gave an extra 4 feet to architects Simonis & Voogd. And the benefits have included the interior volume, subtly increased by the presence of a chine, the exterior spaces, but also the performance since the top speed now climbs to 24 knots. Note that the chosen powertrain is generous with twin 320 HP’s. This allows a wonderful range of 1.000 miles (at 5 knots with a single engine running), which reduces to 180 miles at full speed. A flybridge, direct forward access from the galley, 3 and 4-cabin versions plus crew: so many more things that make this “little” Leopard a powercat that has nothing to envy on bigger boats.

Un bon mètre de longueur en plus qui profite au volume intérieur – subtilement augmenté par la présence d'un redan –, aux espaces extérieurs, mais aussi aux performances, puisque la vitesse de pointe grimpe à 24 nœuds. Précisons que la motorisation retenue est généreuse, avec 2 x 320 CV. Une telle puissance autorise une belle autonomie de 1 000 milles (à 5 nœuds, avec un seul moteur en route), laquelle se réduit à 180 milles à fond. Flybridge, accès direct vers l'avant depuis la cuisine, des versions 3 et 4 cabines plus équipage : autant de plus qui font de ce « petit » Leopard un powercat qui n’a pas grand-chose à envier aux plus grands.

Un troisième powercat pour la gamme Leopard. Après le lancement de deux grands modèles – le 53 et le 46PC, présents à La Grande-Motte tout comme les trois modèles voile – et le retrait du très réussi 43PC, on n’est pas vraiment surpris de découvrir chez Robertson & Caine un nouveau modèle compact, le 40PC. Ce powercat, en termes de design, intègre parfaitement la nouvelle gamme, avec un très long hublot de coque et un flybridge immense. Il reprend le principe d’un imposant rouf panoramique avec une belle cuisine en L, mais pas de table à cartes. Le 40PC parvient, malgré sa longueur réduite, à caser de très belles cabines toutes équipées d’island beds et de salles de bains. Le vrai plus comparé au 43PC ? On gagne ici un vrai poste de barre intérieur.
