We spent 5 summer months filming Lebanon from Above, including its rural, urban, cultural touristic and historical location, as well as the amazing number of festivals.
The idea was to show Lebanon's beauty, diversity and wealth from another angle (above), in order to encourage and promote international and domestic tourism.
My main personal goal is to remind us all that Lebanon is not all about problems, political turmoil, trash...etc but is first and foremost a country that has so much to offer on such a small portion of land, and is still, in spite of everything, truly beautiful.
Maybe by seeing this video, people who lost sight of what Lebanon truly is, will have newfound optimism and strength to participate in steering the country in the right direction, to understand that it is their country to love and protect.

We filmed from mid June to early November and covered Mount Lebanon, Beirut, Southern Lebanon, the Bekaa, Baalbek and North Lebanon.
The book, also titled Rise Above Lebanon, was released on 2 December 2015. it is a hardcover photography book of the highest standard, with 200 pages of images of Lebanon from Above and is available in all major bookshops in Lebanon.

Lebanon (or لُبْنَان in Arabic 2024) is a country in the Middle East and part of the Levant. Lebanon like Syria was strongly Hellenized during the ancient and Byzantine medieval times (Greek Orthodox). After the conquest of the Arabs the country became partly Islamized but it still has a strong Christian presence. Mount Lebanon Mutasarrifate saw the emergence of the monastic orthodox traditions of the Maronites, and later of the Druze. This led to the Maronite-Druz dualism of Lebanon which is still present today. Lebanon is famous for its Cedar trees which are known as the Cedars of God. The cedar is the symbol of Lebanon and also represented in the Lebanese Flag. Lebanon is a country of 6 million people. Many of the Lebanese live in Beirut. The metropolitan area of Beirut has a population of 2,2 million.
On 4 August 2020, a massive explosion in the Port of Beirut resulted in the death of hundreds of people and destroyed the harbour and a huge part of the city. As many as 300,000 people have been left homeless by the explosion. The explosion was followed up by a huge fire in the city in September 2020. The cause of the blast is believed to be from stored ammonium nitrate. However, Beirut is rising from its ashes.

If you’re planning a trip to Lebanon, where should you go? Lebanon is a fantastic little country with so much to see! One of the things I love most about Lebanon is its cultural diversity. The population is about 45% Christian and 50% Muslim, with 18 recognized religious groups.
Lebanon is geographically diverse with mountains, deserts, waterfalls, cities of all sizes. In Lebanon you could theoretically ski in the morning and lie on the beach in the afternoon! Neo Tourz had made it so easy to travel all over Lebanon while coming back to the same bed every night.
The good news is that Lebanon is a compact country and it’s possible to base in Beirut the whole time and take day trips all over the country. Best Places to Visit in Lebanon - All roads lead to Beirut in Lebanon, and Beirut makes a great base for your whole trip. But as far as day trips go, you have liberty to vibrate things up.

I visited Beirut, Lebanon in March of 2019. While in Lebanon I had an opportunity to fly my drone and capture beautiful footage of Beirut and some of the nearby areas. I'd completely forgotten about this footage, until recently searching my files.
Beirut is a beautiful city, and was once known as Paris of the Mediterranean, and it's unfortunate that many parts of such a beautiful city were destroyed. If the only videos and photos you've seen of the city and country are from the explosion, my video captures a small amount of the city's beauty.

Beirut (2024) is an ancient Phoenician-Greek city with a historic city centre in the Middle East. The city was known in Greek as Berytos or Βηρυτός when it was part of the Seleucid and the Byzantine Empires where Caanite and Greek populations lived together.
The city is more than 5,000 years old. It is located on the crossroad of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. It was only after the 7th century that the city was slowly arabised after the muslim conquest of the levant in the 7th century. Nowadays still a minority of Greek Orthodox populations survived aswell as Aramaic speaking citizens.
Beirut is the largest city and the capital of Lebanon. Beirut is known as the Paris of the Middle East. The city has approximately 2,5 million citizens. After a civil war and a severe economic crisis in 2019 and 2020, the port of Beirut blasted on the 4th of August in 2020. A tragic event known as the Beirut Explosion, killing over 200 citizens. The accident happened due to the unsafe storage in the port of tonnes of ammonium nitrate that eventually exploded.

The repercussions of the Civil War have subsided considerably and it seems the Lebanese zest for life and hospitality can have no deterrent. Beirut is a city rich in heritage, architecture, and intellect. Recently with its outstanding new hotels, high-octane nightlife, and arts quarter, Lebanon's resurrected capital has a lot in store for you.
Beirut is the wild child of the Middle East, exuding an air of organized chaos - designer boutiques with magnificent mosques, bullet-scarred buildings with a vibrant nightlife. The 'city that never dies' resonates with energy and resilience, even after years of being plummeted by invasive forces. Formerly a Phoenician port, the city juts out on into the Eastern side of the Mediterranean sea, making it a spectacular location.
