The LARGEST market hall in Europe is in Riga, Latvia! The Riga Central Market Hall is the largest market hall in the continent of Europe.
It is located inside what used to be the largest collection of zeppelin hangars during World War I. It is now full of all sorts of shopping and food vendors, including traditonal Latvian food!

RIGA CENTRAL MARKET FOOD TOUR!
We couldn't resist a food tour at Riga Central Market, the largest food market in all of Europe! The market is built in 5 zeppelin hangars, and is included with Riga Old Town as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After arriving in the food court hangar (Centrālais Gastro Tirgus), we were overwhelmed with the sheer amount of food to choose from. We ended up trying some really delicious foods and having an awesome day at Riga Central Market. This is by far one of the top things to do in Riga!

Foreigners Try Latvian Food // 1 day in Riga, Latvia
We took the bus from Tallinn, Estonia to Riga, Latvia, and only had one day. Of course we spent it eating food! We tried the best of Latvian food, including black balsam, a really strong alcoholic drink that took us by surprise.

Hey everyone! So this is another episode of me trying international food. I loved the traditional Latvian cuisine. We tried fried herring, potato pancakes with sour cream, garlic bread, Latvian wine, and beef meatballs and saute! This meal was so flavorful and unique. Very comforting too! On January 18, the Riga Street Food Festival 2020, organized by Live Riga for the fourth year, took place. Sixteen Riga restaurant chefs walked out of the warm restaurant space to prepare their interpretation of Latvian street food.

Latvian Senses | European Region of Gastronomy
LIVE RīGA continues to spread the “wild at palate” message near and far. A while ago we had the pleasure to bring the gifts from the meadows, forests and rivers of Riga – Gauja region, the European Region of Gastronomy 2017, to our friends up North in Tallinn, Estonia. At the dinner, guests enjoyed a gastronomic performance that involved all senses and demonstrated the region’s products and culinary abilities. Hopefully, we left them wanting for more and already plotting a visit to Riga-Gauja region, home of tastes, sounds and sights of “wild at palate”.
