Lamanai, Belize - Mayan Ruins of Lamanai HD (2016)

Lamanai (from Lama'anayin, submerged crocodile in Yucatec Maya) is a Mesoamerican archaeological site, and was once a major city of the Maya civilization, located in the north of Belize, in Orange Walk District. The site's name is pre-Columbian, recorded by early Spanish missionaries, and documented over a millennium earlier in Maya inscriptions as Lam'an'ain. Lamanai is renown for its exceptionally long occupation spanning three millennia, beginning in the Early Preclassic Maya period and continuing through the Spanish and British Colonial periods, into the 20th century. Unlike most Classic-period sites in the southern Maya lowlands, Lamanai was not abandoned at the end of the 10th century AD.

Mayan Ruins in Lamanai, Belize filmed with XP2 Quadcopter

Aerial footage of two Mayan pyramids in Lamanai, Belize.

Wes traveled to Belize December 2012 with his XP2 Quadcopter to grab some exciting aerial footage.

This type of footage could not be possible without the portability of the XP2 Quadcopter and GoPro Hero 3 which Wes took with him in his luggage all the way from Central Oregon. Its truly amazing what technology has allowed us filmmakers to capture.

XProHeli is making aerial video and photography accessible to every filmmaker and photographer thanks to XproHeli's XP2 Quadcopter. The XP2 is a RTF (ready to fly) multirotor platform capable of lifting recording devises like the GoPro or Sony Nex-5. Helicopters and expensive productions shoots are a thing of the past. We've got quite a selection of accessories and spare parts such as FPV (first person video), extra batteries, props, frames, etc. Grab the XP2 and take your work to New Heights!

Be sure to visit XProHeli at

The XP2 Quadcopter is the most powerful, lightest, and stable quadcopter for aerial video. The size and portability of the XP2 allows you to quickly transport, fly, and capture amazing aerial videos almost anywhere.

We hope our videos inspires your imagination for what can be possible when you add aerial footage to your edits with something like the XP2 Quadcopter.

Lamanai Mayan Ruins & Boat Ride on the New River in Belize

We booked a tour with Elio Avila of Lamanai Belize Tours to go check out the Lamanai Mayan Ruins which is located in the jungle near Orange Walk. Our guide Julian picked us up from our hotel and drove us to Orange Walk where we then took an hour long boat ride down the New River to the Lamania Mayan Ruins to which we were allowed to explore the impressive Mayan monuments and even climbed the High Temple for spectacular views! If you ever get to Belize City, this is definitely a must do tour, so worth the one hour drive and the one hour boat trip to get there. Getting there is half of the adventure!
