Lahti is a city and municipality in Finland. It is the capital of the region of Päijänne Tavastia (Päijät-Häme) and its growing region is one of the main economic hubs of Finland. Lahti is situated on a bay at the southern end of lake Vesijärvi about 100 kilometres (60 mi) north-east of the capital city Helsinki. In English, the Finnish word Lahti literally means bay. Lahti is a long-time pioneering city in environmental sustainability, dating back to as early as 1990 and before. The European Commission has named Lahti as the European Green Capital of 2021. Lahti is the headquarters of the Salpausselkä UNESCO Global Geopark, one of 4 UNESCO Geoparks in Finland.

Joutjärvi is a lake in the Möysä district of Lahti, Finland. Its maximum depth is 5 metres (16 ft). There is a public beach and Canoeing centre, Joutjärven melontakeskus. Möysä is the 16th district of the city of Lahti, in the region of Päijät-Häme, Finland. The (antiquated) word möysä means a sauna doubling as a shelter, constructed in a partly underground hole. It is presumed that the shores of lake Joutjärvi had numerous möysäs for use by travellers during the village of Lahti's time as a significant place of commerce during the 1600s. Möysä was annexed to the city of Lahti from the parish of Hollola in 1933.
