Caña Negro lets you take a relaxing safari boat to see its many animal inhabitants. You can also check out Tortuguero National Park or see sloths on the Bogarin Trail. One of the best things to do in La Fortuna if you want to see everything it has to offer is Arenal National Park. It’s the best place to start because you’ll see many famous sites. These include Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal.
La Fortuna has hanging bridges that sit over its beautiful jungles and let you watch wildlife from on high. One of the best places to see them is in the Mistico Arenal Park. Years of volcanic activity are part of what makes La Fortuna such a popular destination. It has a wide range of hot springs and warm pools to help you melt your worries away. Thrill-seekers will love flying through the jungle like Tarzan. They can go ziplining or jump off the El Sato rope swing. La Fortuna also has rivers with rapids that are large enough to travel down on a raft or inner tube.
La Fortuna is more than a jungle thanks to spots like La Fortuna Town. It’s full of delicious restaurants and a perfect place to meet the locals. Most tours of La Fortuna take you to popular tourist spots like Arenal Volcano, but a few are more specialized. You can go on one that will help you learn about the process of making coffee, chocolate, or both.

La Fortuna offers so much variety when it comes to things to do and see in Costa Rica! We spent four days in La Fortuna and enjoyed every minute of it, especially because everything was so affordable! The local food was so flavorful and being immersed in such lush nature was absolutely breath-taking. If you're lucky, you might catch a view of the Arenal Volcano when it's not hiding behind the clouds. We were able to see the sunset over the volcano and it was a sight like no other! La Fortuna is amazing overall. Don't get us started on the waterfalls and the sky blue waters - watch for yourself! The Hertz/Firefly Car Rental in San Jose Costa Rica provided the WORST customer service we have ever experienced from a car rental place (They gave away the automatic car we reserved, only gave us an option to drive a manual car which we were unable to do, and even if we were able to drive manual they increased the daily rental price 10-fold).
We recommend you look elsewhere for a car rental ( or check out our truly AMAZING Uber driver and friend named ALEJANDRO who drove us all over Costa Rica.

La Fortuna: Arenal Volcano, Waterfalls and Free Hot Springs | Costa Rica Travel Vlog ????
We continue our Costa Rican adventures and head towards La Fortuna.
Volcán Arenal, the youngest and most active volcano in Costa Rica, shadows over the town of La Fortuna, dominating the lush rainforest landscape. Between 1500-1900, Arenal remained silent and was considered extinct. However, on 29th July 1968 at 7:30am, it violently erupted, burying 3 villages and killing 87 people. La Fortuna - aptly named for sure - was spared the rocks, lava and ash.
Join us as we explore this beautiful area, home not only to a massive volcano, but also natural geothermal hotsprings and waterfalls.

LA FORTUNA TIPS:
- Swim beneath the mighty Catarata Rio La Fortuna. We weren't expecting it to cost $18pp, but it was definitely worth it. It is a well-maintained 500-step descent down to (and back up from) the waterfall - still much easier than the hike we did to Montezuma falls.
- Take a dip in the volcano's natural jacuzzis. Whilst there are resort/spa options that cost $$$, we would recommend finding the free thermal hotsprings. We went early in the morning and had the whole place to ourselves for over half an hour. Pure bliss.
- Hike towards the Lava Trails at Mirador El Silencio. It is awesome to see the trails up close. The hike through the jungle is cool too!
- Stay at Sangregado Lodge. The rooms have the most incredible views of Arenal and you feel fully immersed in the jungle, with eagles and pelicans soaring by the balcony. The service is also amazing and free breakfast is included.
- We treated ourselves a bit and ate at a few restaurants rather than sodas. We would recommend Orgánico Food (great vegan food) and Mercadito Arenal (a covered market with tacos, burgers and cocktails).
- La Fortuna is a coffee-growing region. Definitely stop in at Café Metrópoli for a coffee with a rainforest/volcano view.

FREE vs PAID HOTSPRINGS | Arenal Volcano - LA FORTUNA, COSTA RICA
After being in La Fortuna, Costa Rica for a couple of weeks now, we wanted to compare the free vs paid hot springs, to see which is the better way to spend your money and your time here.
With the geothermal hot springs of the Arenal Volcano being one of the biggest attractions to this part of the country, we just had to find out for ourselves. So in this video, we take you on a day filled with both experiences back to back.
We start at the El Chollin natural river hot springs, located just a short 15-minute drive out of La Fortuna, and right next to some of the most popular resorts and hotel hot springs in the area. Next, we go to the Baldi Hotsprings Resort and Hotel, found just up the road from the El Chollin, where we relax in multiple hot and cold pools, a waterslide park, dinner, and more!

Costa Rica MUST SEE: Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges | La Fortuna Rainforest Experience
Visiting the Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges is a thrilling way to experience the rainforest in Costa Rica! You are so many meters above the ground and literally in the midst of clouds walking over and through treetops in this nature preserve. This activity is for those who are not afraid of heights! You are surrounded by lush greenery and the sounds of many birds and animals that inhabit the rainforest. As expected in a rainforest, there is the occasional rain shower. However, the sound of the rain adds to the entire ambiance and creates an immersive experience in the cloud forest. It was so much fun crossing over all the hanging bridges that were featured in this park and we even saw a small waterfall! In some cases, you might get lucky and catch a glimpse of the Arenal volcano when it is less foggy outside. You can opt for a guided walking tour or do a self-guided tour since there are many signs all around that describe the details of each of the hanging bridges. It took us a little less than 2 hours to complete the hike through the treetops. This was a cool treetop rainforest adventure that we would recommend if you are visiting Costa Rica!

BEST tour in La Fortuna (monkeys, snakes, and hot springs -- oh my!) | Costa Rica Travel 2022
We got to see Costa Rica's most mischievous monkeys... The white-faced capuchins. Known for slinging poo, stealing stuff from tourists, and even eating other monkeys. WHAT. Gross.
In this babymoon vlog we got to go on one of the best tours in La Fortuna to check out the infamous Arenal Volcano, see some wildlife, have an incredible lunch, & finish off the day lounging in some Costa Rican hot springs (which we somehow got all to ourselves!!). If you're looking for the most unique/best things to do in Costa Rica, Arenal Volcano & La Fortuna should be on the top of that list! If you're looking to travel to Costa Rica in 2022 we'll be the first to tell you that it's super safe and fairly easy to get into! La Fortuna and Arenal ???????? Costa Rica 4K | Hot Springs and Volcano | Part 10
With its perfect cone, the Arenal volcano near the town of La Fortuna is one of the most beautiful volcanoes in the world. However, you are not allowed to climb the 1600 m high crater. Even though the volcano isn't spewing lava today, it's still active. There are numerous highlights around the Arenal.
However, you won't get bored on a trip to the Arenal Volcano and La Fortuna region. Because the region has numerous highlights up its sleeve. Even if it's not that hot in the crater anymore, it's bubbling violently under the ground. This is how hot springs have developed everywhere in and around La Fortuna. Many of them have been turned into thermal baths and spas, others are still hidden in nature. But they all have one thing in common: You can really relax in the hot water. There are many hotels where you can stay and enjoy in the hot springs, or you spend some time in the free hot springs river. On the other hand, if you are looking for refreshment, you can enjoy water sports adventures on Lake Arenal or cool off under the 65 m high waterfall.
