Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn crowned in solemn ceremony # Trưởng Phạm

Maha Vajiralongkorn was born on 28th July 1952, is the reigning King of Thailand, officially celebrated the coronation on 4th May 2019. As the 10th King of the Chakri dynasty, he succeeded his father King Rama IX.
The coronation of King Maha Vajiralongkorn took place at the Grand Palace in Bangkok. This is the first coronation of a Thai King for the past 69 years and is one of the nation's greatest events this year.
King Maha Vajiralongkorn, King Rama X of Thailand, was crowned in a solemn, magnificent coronation with Hindu and Buddhist rites. He vowed to rule by righteousness.
King Maha Vajiralongkorn is the only son of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit, and is the second child of four siblings. In 1972, he was crowned Prince at the age of 20. After his father deceased in 2016, the military government affirmed his position is the successor to the Thai King.
The official coronation ceremony began at 10:09 AM on 4th May 2019 at the Grand Palace in Bangkok and the accompanying rituals were carried out for three days respectively.
Meditation Rite (rub sacred water on face). The King wore a royal dress, sat facing the east on an octagonal throne made of fig wood. Above is a white 7-storey parasol, symbolizing the king is uncrowned. He in turn turned in 8 directions and was given 8 sacred water bottles to dip his hands and rub his face.
The sacred water for rituals is taken from over 100 sources, including 5 large rivers and 4 ancient ponds throughout Thailand.
The first rite in the coronation ceremony is the bathing of the King. The king wore a white robe, sitting in a structure like a floor. He dipped his hands into the small bowl, rubbed his hands on the top of his head and then the water was poured on him.
The closing ceremony was also at the time when King Vajiralongkorn received the 9-storey parasols symbolizing the King who crowned, then sat on the throne named Phatharabit.
He was given royal treasures in turn, including the Victory Great Crown made of 7.3 kg gold with gemstones and a big crown-mounted diamond originated from Kolkata, India and the entourage team helped to wear the crown to the King’s head.
In the meantime, the royal cannon team fired to mark the important event. He then received the gold board engraved the official title, seal and other treasures like the sword of victory, royal shoes, royal fans, royal brooms, royal scepter and ancient weapons symbolizing the King's authority.
For most Thai people, this is the first time they have witnessed a coronation of the King. The last time of the coronation took place was from 1950, when the King Bhumibol crowned.
Thailand is estimated to spend up to 1 billion baht, or more than USD 30 million, to organize this event.
Vajiralongkorn was sent to study in two private schools in the UK for five years when he was 13 and the last one in Sydney, Australia. He then studied military training at the Royal Australian Military College - The Royal Military College, Duntroon in Canberra.
King Vajiralongkor experienced three previous marriages. Three days prior to the coronation, he married Suthida, a female commander-in-chief of the King's bodyguard force and appointed her majesty the queen.
King Vajiralongkorn is one of the richest kings in the world with the main assets of land and stocks in large corporations.
Considering the level of wealth of the royal family in the world, the Arab Saudi royal family ranked the top with an estimated fortune of USD 1,700 billion and the Thai royal family ranked 5th in the list with assets worth about USD 30 billion, mainly real estate, according to the estimation of Business Insider.
King Vajiralongkorn holds a 23% stake in Siam Commercial Bank, Thailand's second largest bank and 33% stake in SCG Group. Both companies were established by decree of Thai royal family in the 1900s.
As the King, Vajiralongkorn takes full control of the Thai army and is the most powerful man in the country. The King runs the royal family according to his military ideals. The courtiers and royal guards are forced to memorize the basic code of conduct dating back to King Rama VI (1881-1925), respect and be loyal to the King.
Unlike his father, the new King Vajiralongkorn is tougher, he does not hesitate to talk about right and wrong things. Whoever does the right things, the King will praise, but does wrong will be punished, said Sulak Sivaraksa, a Thai royal researcher.
In December 2017, the Thai royal police commander told the media that the King had requested to change the police uniform with a different color scheme as his idea and 400,000 elite Thai soldiers were asked to learn new greeting style and cut their hair like the king's guards often cut.

King of Thailand carried to Temple of the Emerald Buddha on a throne

Thailand's new king, 66, was crowned today at the auspicious time of 10.09am, as decided by court astrologers, in a ceremony at the Grand Palace in Bangkok. His fourth wife, Suthida - married in a surprise ceremony days before the coronation - was invested as Queen, kneeling in respect in front of her husband who sat on a throne. Today's sombre ceremony opened with the white-gowned King Maha Vajiralongkorn - the folds of his robe leaving one shoulder bared - receiving sacred water from across Thailand and dabbing it gently across his face at a shrine inside the Grand Palace complex (bottom centre).

Grand Palace Bangkok Thailand - Thailand Vacation Days

Grand Palace Bangkok Thailand - Thailand Vacation Days

The Grand Palace is teeming with tourists, and with good reason. The architecture is impressive, the grounds are beautiful, and it is home to one of the most noteworthy temples in Thailand. Here is everything you need to know about the Grand Palace before visiting these historical grounds.

The palace’s construction began in 1782. King Rama I was in power at the time, and the palace was not considered to be complete until the late 1800s. King Rama I was the founder of the Chakri Dynasty, and he believed that it also deserved a new royal palace, which is why construction initially began. From 1782 until 1925, the palace was home to the country’s royalty. Today it acts as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Thailand. Not all of the grounds are open to the public; however, there is still plenty to see in those parts that are. Over the past 200 years, different leaders have continued to build upon the magnificent palace until it finally looks how it does today. The Grand Palace serves mainly as a tourist attraction and is sometimes used for ceremonial purposes, however, no member of royalty has lived here since 1925.
