When we were in Las Terrenas in the Dominican Republic, we visited the most popular waterfall in Samana: El Salto Del Limon, and on our way there we stopped at a few other small waterfalls.

Visit El Limon waterfall on peninsula Samana by mules | Trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic 2021
The breathtaking and spectacular over 50 meters high El Limon waterfall is located on the Samana Peninsula on the north coast of the Dominican Republic and is probably the most spectacular natural attraction in the region. It can be reached by mules. From the surrounding towns of Las Terreans, Las Galeras and the city of Samana, well-maintained roads lead to the sleepy mountain village of El Limon, from where you can walk through the lush vegetation to the waterfall.
The walk from the main road to the waterfall takes up to an hour, depending on the starting point. For an extra charge, you can also do the walk on the back of mules, which adds an adventurous touch à la Indiana Jones to the whole expedition. We recommend to take a guide for two mules, because the animals can be very stubborn. The locals are happy to accompany the travelers. The way to El Limon leads through a breathtaking landscape with dense rainforest and exotic plants, through seemingly untouched nature and through the middle of watercourses.
Arriving at the waterfall, most mouths remain open in amazement. The El Limon plunges in three cascades over 50 meters into a natural basin. Its crystal clear waters lend themselves to a refreshing swim in absolutely imposing surroundings. The guides wait patiently until you have had your fill of the spectacular scenery.
Back in El Limon, you can enjoy an excellent typical Dominican dinner in one of El Limon's cozy restaurants.

In this travel vlog from Las Terrenas in the Dominican Republic I bring you to some of the best places to visit on the Samana peninsula and around El Limon. We start off by taking an ATV around the country side. We drive through rivers, mountains and beaches. We stopped off at a family of a pineapple farmer. There we were served some fruit and coffee and were very fortunate to be able to look inside their home and see how a family on the country side usually lives. It was wonderful to hear how this tour has improved local families lives because of tourism. After this we stopped at Moron beach to cool off and go for a swim. For lunch we had a traditional style Dominican buffet. The end of the day was spend by the El Limon waterfall. The next day I headed to Los Haitites national park. Also known as the Ha Long Bay of the Dominican Republic.

Welcome to Lost in Paradise #010 - Hike to Waterfall El Limon, in amazing Samana!
You definitely have to check it out when you in Las Terrenas, El Limon, Las Galeras or Samana!
Check out a local travel agency to book your trip - or if you want to save some money just go with a Guagua (Dominican Bus) for like 150 Pesos per Person, which equals 3$.
The entry fee to access the waterfall is only 50 Pesos (=1$)
You have two options to go to the waterfall from the entry point close to El Limon.
1. By Hike:
It will take you around 1,5 hours to arrive, make sure you wear good shoes (also when I did it without ????)
As you can see in the video it can get very slippery.
The scenery is magnificent!
2. By Horse:
You will arrive in like 20 minutes - of course, you have to pay a little extra.
The horses didn't look so happy on their way, think about twice if you want this for the horses.
Arrived at the waterfall, you can jump into the natural pool and enjoy the cold water!

Weekend in Las Terrenas, DR (Dudu Lagoon, La Cascada el Limón and Playa Cosón & las Canas)

We decided to spend a long weekend in Las Terrenas, in the North East of the Dominican Republic (Samaná Peninsula).
The travel itinerary included driving from Playa Encuentro via Dudu Lagoon to Las Terrenas. We then visited Playa Cosón which is next to the famous Playa Bonita and only around 5 minutes outside the town of Las Terrenas. Playa Cosón needs a larger swell for the surf to work but it was fun regardless.
The next day was a whistle stop tour of Cascada El Limón (a.k.a Salto el Limon or Limon Waterfall) where you can see and swim in 3 different waterfalls. We decided to walk the 1.5km but you can also get a horseback ride to the waterfalls. We ended the weekend with an afternoon trip to Playa Las Canas which is a beautiful and secluded beach North East of Las Terrenas.
