Lake Bled (Slovene: Blejsko jezero; German: Bleder See, Veldeser See) is a lake in the Julian Alps of the Upper Carniolan region of northwestern Slovenia, where it adjoins the town of Bled. The area is a tourist destination. The lake is 35 km (22 mi) from Ljubljana International Airport and 55 km (34 mi) from the capital city, Ljubljana. Lake Bled is 4.2 km (2.6 mi) from the Lesce–Bled train station.
Bled is known for the glacial Lake Bled, which makes it a major tourist attraction. Perched on a rock overlooking the lake is the iconic Bled Castle. The town is also known in Slovenia for its vanilla and cream pastry (Slovene: kremšnita, kremna rezina).
Due to its mild climate, Bled has been visited by aristocratic guests from all across the world. Today it is an important convention centre and tourist resort, offering a wide range of sports activities (golf, fishing, and horseback riding). It is a starting point for mountain treks and hikes, especially within nearby Triglav National Park.
A small island in the middle of the lake is home to the Assumption of Mary Pilgrimage Church; visitors frequently ring its bell, due to an old legend claiming it provides good luck.

Is 2022 the year for us to resume our travel plans? with the restrictions slowly coming to an end, many of us are looking forward to start travelling again. This video is a look back at my trip through Eastern Europe from 2019. I've posted bits and pieces but decided to do a full compilation of our time in the beautiful Country of Slovenia.
We drove into Slovenia through Croatia and spent two full days exploring. Is two days enough? some will tell you that you need more like a week to fully explore this Country but we've decided focus on exploring Ljubljana and hitting all the must see there before heading out to some of the other hotspots such as Lake Bled, Skofja Loka and Lake Bohinj.
Driving through the Triglav National Park was absolutely stunning. I can't say enough of Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj.

In August the Covid-19 situation in Europe was not too bad and many countries opened up for travel. I decided to do a solo trip and head to Slovenia which had been on my bucket list for quite some time. After getting a rental car at the Ljubljana Airport I drove directly to Lake Bled. Renting a car – Slovenia is an excellent destination for a road trip. Chances are if you’re planning a trip to Slovenia, you’re planning to visit Lake Bled. Getting to Lake Bohinj is not too difficult as many visitors enjoy traveling into Triglav National Park for a day or two while visiting Bled.
Find Transport to Lake Bohinj. The quickest way to get from Lake Bled to Lake Bohinj is to the car and takes 25 min.
The drive was fairly beautiful, the view no less than beautiful all the way. A curving autumn road with colorful forest and mountain in the far distance in a cloudy day
Bohinjska Bistrica is the largest settlement and administrative center of the Municipality of Bohinj.

VISITING LAKE BLED (TRAVEL GUIDE FOR SLOVENIA'S FAMOUS LAKE)
Visiting Lake Bled is one of the best things to do in Slovenia. Lake Bled is only a short drive from Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana. It makes for the perfect day trip. In this travel guide for Slovenia's famous lake, we take you on a tour of the gorgeous Lake Bled and show you all of its popular attractions.
We started off our day by renting a pletna from Pletna B&B. Pletna’s are rowboats that you can rent for 20 euro per hour to get to Bled Island with the Assumption of Maria Church. We had a great time on the journey to the island. Once we made it to the island, we parked the boat and got out to explore. There are 99 steps to climb to get to the entrance of the church. The church has a popular bell tower with a bell that is said to grant wishes.
After exploring the famous Lake Bled island, we rowed back across Lake Bled and brought our pletna back to the Bed and Breakfast. Then we made our way to Confectionery Zima.
Confectionery Zima is a popular place to try the famous Bled Cream Cake. We've seen these cakes all around the Balkans, but never tried it.
The Bled Cake was delicious and a must try while visiting Lake Bled.
Next, we drove up to Bled Castle. It’s the oldest castle in Slovenia and it overlooks Lake Bled. After exploring the outside grounds of the castle, we made our way back down to the lake.
We spent some more time admiring the spectacular lake from different spots around the lake and then went for lunch.
Visiting Lake Bled is a must while in Slovenia. It is such a beautiful place with a laid back feel.

Each summer, in Jesenice in the north of today’s EU Member State of Slovenia,an historical steam train travels through the Triglav National Park and both the Bača and Soča Valleys, to Nova Gorica.The first stop is Bled Jezero. Several actors are on the train, dressed as conductors in the uniforms of the old empire, a special touch that adds to the wonderful atmosphere. The train station is sited above a hollowed-out glacier that later became Bled Lake, one of the warmest lakes in the Alps. The Austro-Hungarian monarchy required a second railway connection between Vienna and Trieste. Its planning took more than thirty years and it took five years to construct: tunnels were blasted out of the rock, narrow valleys used to their best advantage, and amazing bridges constructed. With the completion of this railroad, the railway network connected Vienna and Central Europe with the Adriatic regions of the K and K monarchy. On this journey we have travelled on the youngest of the ‘steam ladies’ of the Ljubljana Railway Museum. The 33-037 weighs a hundred and thirty six tons, is twenty three metres long and its tender can take nine tons of coal. The Bohinj Museum Train is a fabulous experience. Not one to be missed!

Visiting The Beautiful Lake Bled in SLOVENIA | My Travel Journal Vlog
If you thought that fairy tales are just fiction is because you've never been here. Lake BLED in Slovenia looks like it was taking from a fairy tale. This is a place for photographers, wherever you make a shot, the picture is amazing. Such a beautiful place.
We visited the Farm Dornk, Monika and Her mother Simona were our hosts. They are such nice people, we had fun, we ate and we drank some beers made by them. They even make their own Rakija which is a alcoholic beverage that is incredible. You have to visit them if you come to Bled. here is their web page.

Lake Bled is located in the Julian Alps, Slovenia. It is an incredibly beautiful place with a rich history.
The lake surrounds Bled Island (Blejski otok). The island has several buildings, the main one being the pilgrimage church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary.
The traditional transportation to Bled Island is a wooden boat known as a pletna.
The role of the oarsman dates back to 1740, when Maria Theresa of Austria granted 22 local families exclusive rights to ferry religious pilgrims across Lake Bled to worship on Bled Island. The profession is still restricted. Many modern oarsmen descend directly from the original 22 families.
On the hill is: Bled Castle is a medieval castle built on a precipice above the city of Bled in Slovenia, overlooking Lake Bled. According to written sources, it is the oldest Slovenian castle and is currently one of the most visited tourist attractions in Slovenia.
Lake Jasna (Slovene: Jezero Jasna) is the name of two interconnected artificial lakes located near Kranjska Gora along the road to the Vršič Pass.

Slovenia is a beautiful country with the place still relatively less popular compared to other European countries. Yet, it’s beauty is unmatched in terms of nature and sights.
Here, I showcase how your drive from Capital of Slovenia to Lake Bled might look like. Taking you through just some of the beautiful landscape that I managed to stop and capture. And yes, it’s easy to just find spaces to stop your car and relax almost anywhere in the country, it’s so chill all around!
You actually see much more scenic landscape than I captured here as you drive through. Slovenia has certainly surpassed my expectations in terms of raw nature and beauty.
