Saudi Arabia’s $1 Trillion Transformation | 2030 Future MegaProjects and Proposals

Saudi Arabia is investing $1 trillion in infrastructure projects across the country. The majority of the megaprojects should be completed by 2030.

King Abdullah City:
With a total development area of 173 km² (66.8 sq mi), the city is located along the coast of the Red Sea, around 100 km north of Jeddah, the commercial hub of Saudi Arabia. The city is also approximately an hour and 20 minutes away from the city of Mecca, 3 hours from Medina by car and an hour away from all Middle Eastern capital cities by plane. The total cost of the city is around SR 207 billion, with the project being built by Emaar Properties. A Tadawul-listed company created from Emaar Properties, a Dubai-based public joint stock company and one of the world’s largest real estate companies, and SAGIA (Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority) which is the main facilitator of the project.[citation needed]

The city, along with another five economic cities, is a part of an ambitious 10x10 program to place Saudi Arabia among the world's top ten competitive investment destinations by the year 2010, planned by SAGIA. The first stage of the city is completed in 2010 and the whole city is planned to be fully completed by 2020. The city aims to diversify the nation's oil-based economy by bringing direct foreign and domestic investments. The city is also aspires to help create up to one million jobs. Upon completion, KAEC is said to be larger than Washington DC.

Riyadh Metro:
The Riyadh Metro is a rapid transit system under construction in the city of Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. It will consist of six metro lines spanning a total length of 176 kilometers, with 85 stations. The project will cost $22.5 billion to build. It is scheduled for a light opening in 2019, and the full network is expected to be fully operational in 2021.

Jeddah Economic City:
Jeddah Economic City, is a 5,202,570 m2 (56,000,000 sq ft) project approved for construction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The project is designed by the Kingdom Holding Company, a firm owned by Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal. Jeddah Economic City will host both commercial and residential development including homes, hotels, and offices.

The centerpiece of the development will be Jeddah Tower, planned to be the tallest building in the world upon its completion. The entire project is estimated to cost $20 billion (SR75 billion). Jeddah Economic City is a three-phase project. Jeddah Tower will be built in phase one, infrastructure for the project will be created in phase two, the third phase will be the profits.

Al-Haram Mosque Expansion:
In 2008, the Saudi government under King Abdullah Ibn Abdulaziz announced an expansion of the mosque, involving the expropriation of land to the north and northwest of the mosque covering 300,000 square meters (3,200,000 sq ft). At that time, the mosque covered an area of 356,800 square meters (3,841,000 sq ft) including indoor and outdoor praying spaces. 40 billion riyals (US$10.6 billion) was allocated for the expansion project.

Jubail City Center:
The redevelopment of Jubail City Center will revitalize the city and bring 100,000 jobs. Upon completion, Jubail City will be the largest industrial city in the world, slightly larger than Shenzhen, China.

kuwait future city -city of silk- مدينة الحرير

Madinat al-Hareer (Arabic: مدينة الحرير, meaning City of Silk), is a proposed 250 square kilometer planned urban area in Subiya, Kuwait, an area just opposite Kuwait City which, upon construction, would include the Burj Mubarak al-Kabir , the world's tallest structure, a natural desert reservation of 2 square kilometres, a duty free area which will be beside a new airport, in addition to a large business center, conference areas, environmental areas, athletic areas, and areas that concentrate on media, health, education, and industry. The City of Silk will also include numerous tourist attractions, hotels, spas, and public gardens. The city will be built in individual phases with total completion within twenty-five years. The development will cost an estimated 25 billion Kuwaiti Dinars (~94 billion USD). Burj Mubarak al-Kabir should not be confused with the Al Jaber Tower proposed by the famous Italian architect Amero Marchetti, part of the planned ethic city. If built the Al Jaber Tower would reach 1852 meters.

As of July 27, 2008, the government of Kuwait has already approved the project, with some of the project's funding coming from the budget surplus over the course of 2007 and 2008. Construction on the actual site has also begun; this is seen through bridges, highways and roads being laid down as basic infrastructure to facilitate future construction of structures within the city. Various reports indicate that the city might be ready by 2023.

Kuwait is a small country surrounded by Saudi Arabia and by Iraq.
In 1990, the war for Koweït started when Saddam Hussein wanted to take back Kuwait as part of Iraq. The country is also famous for its oil production and exportation. Due to the black gold (Oil) Oil reserves were discovered in commercial quantities in 1938. From 1946 to 1982, the country underwent large-scale modernization.

Despite its relatively small territory, Kuwait has proven crude oil reserves of 104 billion barrels, estimated to be 10% of the world's reserves.

But the country is less known for its incredible modernity, prosperity, beautiful skyscrapers. and a strong economy. Kuwait city, the capital really look like a Science Fiction city with its futuristic architecture and skyscrapers.

Kuwait has a GDP per capita of $71,929 and a Human Development Index of 0.8, which is very high. The country is a
leader in finance, science, and technology in the middle east. Its population is the most literate in the Arabic world.

Kuwait joined the Belt And Road Initiative in 2014 and the country will benefit a lot from that. Chinese promised to invest many billion in the country that joined the initiative. Despite its incredible transformation, Koweït will not stop its progression now.

Here are 7 megaprojects that will change the country forever.
1- Kuwait Airport Expansion finished.
2-south al-mutlaa city
3-Silk City ( A 1 km high skyscraper will be built)
4-sheikh Jaber al Ahmad causeway finished.
5-Kuwait metro.
6-Kuwait new refinery project( Oil) mostly completed.
7-Kuwait Vision 2035.

One of the biggest projects for the country will be to have diversified
its economy from oil. Kuwait' s economy begin to diversify slowly.
Some new startup and a solid financial sector help Kuwait to reach its goal.

The most recognized buildings in the Bay are the Bahrain World Trade Center, the Four Seasons Hotel, the Arcapita Headquarters and the United (Twisted) Tower. The Bahrain Bay is really worth a visit!

Kuwait, an Arab country on the Persian (Arabian) Gulf, has cultural heritage dating back to antiquity. Kuwait City, the capital, is known for its modern architecture, ranging from skyscrapers to the striking Kuwait Towers, water towers whose design recalls the tiled domes of a classic mosque. The Tareq Rajab Museum houses a rich collection of ethnographic artifacts and Islamic art.
