???????? Urban EXPLORATION in an ABANDONED FACTORY! | KRAGUJEVAC, Serbia | Home of ZASTAVA | SERBIA Travel

KRAGUJEVAC, SERBIA - Part 10 of my 2021 Serbia Travel series comes from Central Serbia, specifically the city of Kragujevac, which was the first capital of modern day Serbia in the early 1800s. It’s not exactly a city known for its tourism, but even so, there’s an immense amount of history and architecture to explore!

I’m a major car enthusiast, and I have always loved seeing Yugos and Zastavas from the 70s and 80s on the streets of what was Yugoslavia. Zastava Automobiles was originally an arms company developing cannons, guns and other weapons, which eventually developed into producing Zastavas from the 1950s. There’s now a Fiat factory on the site of the Zastava car factory (which was bombed in the 1999 NATO bombings). Knežev Arsenal is at the centre of Kragujevac’s industrial history (now home to Arsenal Fest), where weapons and car parts were produced for many years. If you love abandoned buildings, urbex or urban exploration, this place is for you!

We also take a walk around Kragujevac to check out the architecture and also the cemetery which has a special connection to Zastava’s history! There aren't a huge number of things to do or activities in Kragujevac, but it was still interesting! We’ll be back in Užice for the next video!

Belgrade Serbia - Europe's Best Kept Secret

Belgrade Serbia was once the capital of Yugoslavia but now it's the party capital of Europe. Belgrade is also one of the most affordable capital cities in all of Europe! Serbia has had quite a turbulent past but now has emerged with a vibrant cafe culture, unique architecture, and a lively nightlife. Serbian food is so delicious too. Ana's dad grew up in Serbia and moved to America when he was 25. It was amazing meeting up with her family to get the authentic Serbian experience. We visited Kalemegdan, Belgrade Fortress, Ada Ciganlija, Knez Mihailova. This city is truly one of a kind

What to see in Novi Sad, Serbia

Novi Sad is the second largest city of Serbia and is just 74 km north of the capital Belgrade. The city lies on the banks of the Danube river and numerous international tourist cruisers stop in its harbour. Novi Sad is a home of the famous EXIT music festival, one of the best in Europe that brings together the best musicians from around the world.
What to see in Novi Sad:
- Visit Petrovaradin fortress on the right bank of the Danube, which was built in the time of the Austrian emperors Leopold I, Joseph I, Charles VI, Maria Teresa and Joseph II. Enter through the lavish arch of Leopold Gate, visit the city's museum housed inside the former Gunners' Barracks, and don't forget to have a gander at the quirky clock tower which has its hands the wrong way around (so the small hand shows minutes and the big hand shows hours) to aid far-off fishermen along the Danube.
- Trg Slobode (Freedom Square) is the largest central city square, built in the 18th century. On the west side of the square is the Town Hall built in 1895th in Neo-Renaissance style, designed by architect George Molnar. On the opposite side of the square, is a tall catholic church “Name of Mary”. It was built in 1895th in neogothic in style.
- A majestic Art Nouveau building a short walk from Freedom Square, Novi Sad’s Synagogue is one of the city’s most impressive buildings. The synagogue saw its fair share of tragedy in the 20th century.
- A short walk from Freedom Square lies the Bishop’s Palace, sitting at the end of the Zmaj Jovina street. It is a residential palace of the Serbian Orthodox Bishop of the Diocese of Backa. The building was built in 1901 in the Serbian-Byzantine style, designed by architect Vladimir Nikolic.
- Zmaj Jovina Street is one of the oldest streets in Novi Sad. It extends from Freedom Square to the bishop's palace. The street was once a place with a number of craft and trade shops, and it was called Magazinska alley. At the end of the street, in front of the bishop's house, since 1984, there is a monument of Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj, the most famous children's poet, after which street bears its name.
- At the Theatre Square there is a large and modern building of the Serbian National Theatre.
- Behind the building of the theater's is Uspen church, built in 1774th in the Baroque style.
- The City Museum, Platoneum and Museum of Vojvodina are undoubtedly the jewels in this city. The city also has a number of excellent galleries, including the Matica Srpska gallery and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina.
- Dunavska Street is probably the oldest street in Novi Sad. On the left side of the street are houses in neo-baroque style. At the beginning of the Dunavska streets, there is the city library in the house that was built in 1895.
- Dunavski Park is the oldest and most beautiful park in Novi Sad. The first trees were planted in the 19th century.

Dungeons & DINOSAURS! | KRUŠEVAC, Serbia | SERBIA’S Unexpected SPOMENIK filled CITY! | Serbia TRAVEL

KRUŠEVAC, SERBIA - Episode 12 of my 2021 Serbia Travel series comes from the city of Kruševac, a city filled with unexpected gems, including dungeons, dinosaurs, spomeniks (monuments), history, architecture and much more!

We’ve been to amazing places in Serbia, such as Subotica, Užice, Novi Sad, Bajina Bašta and more, but for this video, I was based in Niš for the weekend, Serbia’s third largest city, where I spent three weeks in 2020. I decided to take a trip to Kruševac as it seems to be a Serbian city not many people talk about as a potential tourism destination in Serbia.

Founded by Prince Lazar in the 1300s, Kruševac is full of delights such as Lazarev Grad, an archaeological site, Lazarica Church, also dating back to the origins of the city, street art, war memorials, a miniature village in Bagdala and definitely more than one spomenik!

If you’re looking for things to do or activities in Kruševac, there’s a wide selection in this video!

Belgrade is the capital of the southeast European country of Serbia. Its most significant landmark is the Beogradska Tvrđava, an imposing fortress at the confluence of the Danube and the Sava rivers. Kragujevac Always and Forever (Oduvek, Uvek i Zauvek)

Video I made as a fun project, from the footage that was collecting digital dust on my SSD in cooperation with @izglave1 . It was a fun project to do,
free of charge, no end client, no restrictions, no politics.....something which will be on Youtube forever, like Kragujevac!

Kragujevac (Serbian Cyrillic: Крагујевац, pronounced [krǎɡujeʋats] ) is the fourth largest city in Serbia and the administrative centre of the Šumadija District. It is the historical centre of the geographical region of Šumadija in central Serbia and is situated on the banks of the Lepenica River. According to the 2022 census, the City of Kragujevac has 171,628 inhabitants.

Kragujevac was the first capital of modern Serbia and the first constitution in the Balkans, the Sretenje Constitution, was proclaimed in the city in 1838. The Scottish Women's Hospitals for Foreign Service unit was there during World War I. During the Second World War, Kragujevac was the site of a massacre by the Nazis in which 2,778 Serb men and boys were killed.

Modern Kragujevac is known for its large munitions (Zastava Arms) and automobile (FCA Srbija) industries and its status as an education centre housing the University of Kragujevac, one of the region's largest higher education institutions.
