আজ চলুন ঘুরে আসি কাটরা মসজিদ থেকে। কাটরা মসজিদ পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মুর্শিদাবাদ রেল স্টেশনের ১৬০০ মিটার পূর্ব দিকে বাজারের মধ্যে অবস্থিত। এখানে এই মসজিদটির নির্মাতা মুর্শিদকুলি খান সমাহিত রয়েছেন মসজিদ প্রাঙ্গনে প্রবেশ তোরনের নিচে একটি সমাধিতে। মুর্শিদ কুলি খান ছিলেন বাংলার প্রথম নবাব। তার উপর মুঘল সাম্রাজ্যের নামমাত্র আধিপত্য ছিল, সকল ব্যবহারিক উদ্দেশ্যেই তিনি বাংলার নবাব ছিলেন। তিনি দরিদ্র দাক্ষিণাত্য মালভূমি ওড়িয়া ব্রাহ্মণ পরিবারে জন্মগ্রহন করেন। মুর্শিদ কুলি খানকে, হাজি শফি ইসফাহানি নামে ইরানের একজন উচ্চপদস্থ মুঘল কর্মকর্তা ক্রীতদাস হিসেবে ক্রয় করেন ও ইসলাম ধর্মে স্থানান্তরিত করেন, তাঁর নিজের নামানুসারে নতুন রাজধানীর নামকরণ করেন মুর্শিদাবাদ। বর্তমানে এই মসজিদটির তত্ত্বাবধান এবং রক্ষণাবেক্ষনের দায়িত্ব আর্কিওলজিক্যাল সারভে অব ইন্ডিয়া এবং পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের উপর ন্যস্ত রয়েছে ।

কাটরা মসজিদ মুর্শিদাবাদ রেল স্টেশনের ১৬০০ মিটার পূর্ব দিকে বাজারের মধ্যে অবস্থিত একটি মসজিদ। এটি ১৭২৩ এবং ১৭২৪ সালের মধ্যে নির্মিত হয়।এখানে নওয়াব মুর্শিদ কুলি খাঁন এর সমাধি রয়েছে। এটি ভারতীয় উপমহাদেশের বৃহত্তম কাফেলা কেন্দ্রের একটি। মুর্শিদকুলি খান ঢাকা থেকে ১৭১৭ খ্রিষ্টাব্দে রাজধানী স্থানান্তরিত করেন। তার নিজের নামানুসারে নতুন রাজধানীর নামকরণ করেন মুর্শিদাবাদ। কাটরা মসজিদটি নতুন রাজধানীর জামে মসজিদ হিসেবে নির্মিত হয়। এটির সবচেয়ে লক্ষণীয় বিষয় হল দুই কোনার উঁচু দুটি টাওয়ার, যেগুলোতে বন্দুক স্থাপনের জন্য ছিদ্র রয়েছে।

The first Nawab of Bengal was Murshid Quli Khan, also known as Zamin Ali Quli and born as Surya Narayan Mishra. Although his reign was under the supervision of the Mughal Empire, history testifies that Murshid Quli Khan was in the true sense the first independent Nawab of Bengal. It was nominally dominated by the Mughal Empire. This Murshidabad is in his name. The beginning of Nababi rule in the heart of Bengal is by his hands. He was in the Constituent Assembly of Bengal from 1717 to 1727. He was righteous, wise, pious. Judiciary was fair during his tenure. Although he was a Muslim Nawab, his attitude towards Hindus was very sincere and compassionate. After his death in 1727, he was buried under the stairs in the premises of this Katra mosque built by him.

কাটরা মসজিদ এর নামকরণ:-
মসজিদটির নিকটে একটি বাজার ছিল এবং কাটরা মানে হচ্ছে বাজার। কাজেই সম্পূর্ণ অর্থ করলে দাড়ায় কাটরা মসজিদ বা বাজার মসজিদ, বাজারে অবস্থিত একটি মসজিদ।
কাটরা মসজিদের বর্ণনা:-
মসজিদটি একটি বর্গাকৃতির স্তম্বমূলের উপর নির্মিত। এটি ইট দিয়ে তৈরি এবং মসজিদটি সুদৃশ্য গম্বুজ দ্বারা বেষ্টিত, যা তখনকার দিনে যারা কোরআন শরীফ পড়ত, তাদের জন্য নির্মিত হয়েছিলো। এটিকে মাদ্রাসা হিসাবেও অভিহিত করা যায়। প্রত্যেকটি কক্ষে প্রায় ৭০০ জন লোক কোরআন পড়তে পারত। কক্ষগুলোর সামনে চত্বর বা আঙিনা বিদ্যমান ছিল। চারকোনায় চারটি বিশাল মিনার অবস্থিত। মিনারগুলোর আকৃতি অষ্টাভূজাকৃতি এবং এগুলো ক্রমশ উপরের দিকে সরু হয়ে গিয়েছে। মসজিদের সামনের মিনার বা টাওয়ারগুলো ৭০ ফুট উচ্চতা বিশিষ্ট এবং চওড়ায় প্রায় ২০ ফুট। সম্পূর্ণ মসজিদটি আকারে চতুর্ভূজাকৃতি, পুরো মসজিদটিতে অনেক সুদৃশ্য খিলান রয়েছে। মসজিদটি ১৮৯৭ সালে ভূমিকম্পের কারণে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছিলো। প্রত্যেক মিনারে একটি প্যাঁচানো সিঁড়ি রয়েছে যা ক্রমশ উপর দিকে চলে গিয়েছে, একজন দর্শনার্থী মিনারের উপরের অংশ হতে মুর্শিদাবাদ শহরের অনেকটা অংশ অবলোকন করতে পারে। মসজিদটির দু’পাশের ৭০ ফুট উঁচু মিনারগুলো কালের আবর্তে আজ জরাজীর্ণ, মিনারের গম্বুজগুলো ১৮৯৭ সালের ভূমিকম্পে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়। ১৭৮০ সালে, একজন ভ্রমণকারী উইলিয়াম হজেস লিখেন যে ৭০০ জন কোরআন তেলওয়াতকারী মসজিদের ভেতর বাস করত।
মসজিদটির প্রবেশদ্বারে পূর্ব দিক হতে চৌদ্দটি সিঁড়ির ধাপ রয়েছে, নওয়াব মুর্শিদ কুলি খাঁন এ সিঁড়িগুলোর নিচে মুর্শিদ কুলি খাঁন এর সমাধি অবস্থিত। এটি নবাব মুর্শিদকুলি খাঁন এর ইচ্ছা অনুসারে করা হয়, যিনি তার জীবনে কৃত পাপকর্মের জন্য অনুতপ্ত ছিলেন এবং এটি তার নিরহঙ্কারতার প্রকাশ। তিনি এমন এক স্থানে সমাহিত হতে চেয়েছিলেন, যেখানে তিনি মসজিদে প্রবেশকারী পূন্যবান লোকেদের পায়ের নিচে নিষ্পিষ্ট হবেন এবং তাদের পদস্পর্শ পাবেন।
মসজিদটি আকৃতিতে চতুর্ভূজাকৃতি। এটি পাঁচটি অংশে বিভক্ত। প্রতিটি অংশে খিলানকৃতি প্রবেশদ্বার রয়েছে এবং কেন্দ্রীয় অংশটি বিশেষভাবে লক্ষণীয় কেননা এ অংশে রয়েছে সুদৃশ্য সরু চূড়া। মসজিদটির পাঁচটি গম্বুজ রয়েছে। এর মধ্যে কিছু ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে এবং কিছু ১৮৯৭ সালের ভূমিকম্পের পরও মোটামুটি অক্ষত রয়েছে। ভূমিকম্পটি নির্মানটির অনেক অংশে ক্ষতিসাধন করে। নির্মানটির সম্পূর্ণ আয়তন ১৯.৫ একর এবং ২০০০ জন নামাজ আদায়কারী ধারণ করতে পারে। মেঝেতে ২০০০ টি চতুর্ভূজাকৃতি মাদুর চিত্রিত রয়েছে।
মসজিদটির কুঠুরিগুলো দোতলা বিশিষ্ট এবং ২০ বর্গফুট আকারের। প্রত্যেকটির রয়েছে ৬টি খিলানকৃত দরজার আকৃতি। গেট পর্যন্ত পাথরে বাঁধাই করা ১৫টি সিঁড়ির ধাপ রয়েছে এবং মসজিদের মূল দরজা পর্যন্ত পাথরে বাঁধাই একটি পথ রয়েছে। মসজিদ এবং কুঠুরিগুলোর মধ্যে খোলা জায়গার আকার প্রায় ১৩ ফুট এবং মসজিদের পেছনের অংশে তা ৪২ ফুট। মসজিদের সামনের চত্বর ১৬৬ ফুট লম্বা এবং ১১০ ফুট চওড়া।
Murshid Quli Khan:
Murshid Quli khan,also known as Mohammad Hadi and born as Surya Narayan Mishra, was the first Nawab of Bengal, serving from 1717 to 1727. Born a Hindu in the Deccan Plateau c. 1670, Murshid Quli Khan was bought by Mughal noble Haji Shafi.
Katra Mosque Build:-
The mosque was build as a centre of Islamic learning by Murshid Quli Khan and also houses his tomb. It is believed that Murad Farash Khan, an architect and trusted follower of Murshid Quli Khan was asked to construct this mosque.

Katra Masjid is located at 24.184722°N 88.288056°E.
Hazarduari Palace and its associated sites in the Kila Nizamat area (forming the central area in the map alongside) is the centre of attraction in Murshidabad. Just a little away are Katra Masjid, Fauti Mosque, Jama Masjid and the Motijhil area. There is a group of attractions in the northern part of the town (as can be seen in the map alongside). Some attractions such as Khushbagh, Rosnaiganj, Baranagar, Kiriteswari Temple, Karnasuvarna and others are on the other side of the river and there are attractions in the neighbouring Berhampore area also (not shown in the map

বাংলার শেষ স্বাধীন নবাব সিরাজউদ্দোলা, মীর জাফর তথা বিশ্বাসঘাতকতা, অনন্য স্থাপত্য, ভাস্কর্য, ক্ষমতার উত্থান-পতন সবই রয়েছে মুর্শিদাবাদের ইতিহাসে। এর মধ্যে মুর্শিদকুলি খান নির্মিত তার একমাত্র নিদর্শন কাটরা মসজিদ অন্যতম।আর এই কাটরা মসজিদেই রয়েছে বাংলার প্রথম নবাব মুর্শিদকুলি খান এর সমাধি। কাটরা মানে জনবহুল বাজার ৷ অতীতে এই এলাকায় একটি বাজার ছিল। নবাব মু্র্শিদকুলি খাঁ একটি কাটরার মাঝে একটি মসজিদ তৈরি করতে চেয়েছিলেন ৷ তার ইচ্ছা অনুযায়ী বাজারের মধ্যে নির্মাণ করা হয় এই মসজিদ। আবার শোনা যাই, বৃদ্ধাবস্থায় নবাব মুর্শিদকুলি খাঁন, তার কবরটি একটি মসজিদের পাশে হোক সেই ইচ্ছা প্রকাশ করেন। সেই কথা অনুযায়ী তিনি এই মসজিদটি নির্মাণের দায়িত্ব দেন তার বিশ্বস্ত কারিগর মুরাদ ফরাস খাঁনের উপর। নবাবের ইচ্ছে মতো 1723 থেকে 1724 খ্রিশ্টাব্দের মধ্যে তৈরি হয় এই মসজিদ। ১৮৯৭ সালে ভূমিকম্পে গম্বুজসহ মসজিদের অনেক অংশ ক্ষতিগ্রস্থ হয়ে পড়ে। ১৭৮০ খ্রিস্টাব্দে, উইলিয়াম হজস নামে একজন ভ্রমণকারী এই কাটরা মসজিদ ভ্রমণ করতে এসে লিখেছিলেন যে, মসজিদটিতে প্রায় ৭০০ জন কুরআন পাঠকারী বাস করতেন।

Kathgola (also known as Katgola) is a neighbourhood in the city of Murshidabad which was at one time the capital of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa during the reign of the Nawabs of Bengal.
Kathgola Gardens
It is said that black roses were cultivated here but now only mango trees can be seen here. The gardens cover 30 acres.
Adinath Temple
The temple in the Kathgola Gardens.
Adinath Temple also known as Paresh Nath Temple or Kathgola Temple is situated in the Kathgola Gardens. It is a temple dedicated to Bhagawan Adishvar. Moolnayak of this temple is a 90 cm. white colored idol of Bhagawan Adishvar padmasana posture. The idol of Bhagwan Adinatha is very ancient and considered to be around 900 years old. There are 17 other images of Jain Tithankaras and other deities.[1] This temple was built in 1933 by Lakshmipat Singh Dugar due to inspiration from his mother. The architecture of the temple is unique of its kind.[2] A dadabari dedicated to jain saint Jinadutta Suriji Maharaj is present near the Adinath Temple. The dadabari contains a pair of Charans of Guru Jinadutta Suriji Maharaj, and was built at the same time as the main temple.

কাটরা মসজিদ এ আসতে গেলে। শিয়ালদহ রেলওয়ে স্টেশন থেকে লালগোলা গামী ট্রেনে উঠে মুর্শিদাবাদ স্টেশনে নামতে হবে। মুর্শিদাবাদ স্টেশন এ নেমে স্টেশনের সামনে থেকে টোটো এবং ঘোড়ার গাড়ি পেয়ে যাবেন। কাটরা মসজিদে যাবার জন্য। তবে মুর্শিদাবাদের শুধু কাটরা মসজিদ না। এখানে আছে ঐতিহাসিক হাজারদুয়ারি প্যালেস। কাঠগোলা বাগান বাড়ি। জগৎশেঠের বাড়ি। আরো অনেক ঐতিহাসিক জায়গা আছে মুর্শিদাবাদে ঘোরার জন্য। তবে একবার ইচ্ছে করলে মুর্শিদাবাদে আসতেই পারেন।
