মুর্শিদাবাদের এই কাঠগােলা প্যালেসটিও মুর্শিদাবাদের ঐতিহাসিক দ্রষ্টব্য স্থানগুলির মধ্যে অন্যতম। হাজারদুয়ারি প্যালেসের প্রায় তিন কিলােমিটার উত্তরে নশিপুর রাজবাড়ির কাছেই অবস্থিত এই প্যালেস। এই বাগানটির প্রতিষ্ঠাতা জৈন সম্প্রদায়ের অন্যতম ধনশালি বণিক রায় বাহাদুর লছমিপৎ সিং দুগার। এই দুগড় পরিবারের পূর্বপুরুষ ছিলেন জগৎশেঠদের মুনীম। সেকালে ধনী লােকেদের বাগান করার শখ ছিল। সেই বাগানে তারা নানা রকম ফলের গাছ লাগাতেন এবং সুন্দর ফুলের বাগান করতেন। কাঠগােলার বাগান তৈরি করেন। কাঠগােলার বাগানে এককালে গােলাপ, জুই, বেলী, চামেলি প্রভৃতি ফুলের বিঘা ধরে চাষ হতাে। কাঠগােলার বাগান সাজাতে লছমিপত, ছত্রপত ও শ্রীপত সিং দুগড় অনেক টাকা খরচ করেছিলেন।

The Jagat Seth was a banking family and the title of the eldest son of the family. The family sometimes referred to as the House of Jagat Seth, were a wealthy business, banking, and money lender family from Murshidabad, Bengal region in the eastern part of the Indian subcontinent, during the time of Nawab Siraj-ud-Daula.
Jagat Seth was a title conferred by the Nawab of Bengal and can be interpreted as banker of the merchant of the world.
The House of Jagat Seth
The Jagat Seth was the most powerful bankers of India during the first half of the 18th century. Robert Orme described Jagat Seths as the greatest shroff and banker in the known world.
According to Nick Robins:- The Jagat Seths were unrivaled in northern India for their financial power. Known as 'banker of the world', this Marwari family had built up formidable economic resources on the back of its control of the imperial mint and extensive moneylending. They wielded this financial clout at the Bengali court and were judged to be 'the chief cause of revolutions in Bengal' by a French commentator at the time.

কাঠগোলা বাগান-
কাঠগোলা বাগানবাড়ী তৈরি করেছিলেন চার ভাই মিলে লক্ষ্মীপৎ সিং, জনপৎ, মহীপৎ ও ধনপৎ, সেই সময় ১২০০ টাকার বিনিময়ে নবাবের থেকে ৩২ বিঘা বাগান কিনে এই বাড়ী তৈরি সুরু করেন। পরবর্তীতে এই বাড়ীর জমির পরিমাণ হয় ২৫০ বিঘা।
এই বাড়ীতে একটা সুরঙ্গ পথ ছিল যেটা জগত শেঠ এর বাড়ীর সাথে ও গঙ্গার সাথে যুক্ত ছিল।

Kathgola: Kathgola garden, Adinath Jain temple, Kathgola Palace and museum, Zoo, Underground temple.
Kathgola often refers to the Kathgola Palace. Kathgola Gardens, also known as the Kathgola Temple, was built by Lakshmipat Singh Dugar. It is said that black roses were cultivated here but now only mango trees can be seen here. The gardens cover 30 acres.
Kathgola Palace is a four-storeyed palatial palace in the Kathgola Gardens. It has an ornamented facade with valuable paintings, mirrors and priceless furniture. Beside the palace is a small pond and a baoli. Here William Watts and Walsh met Mir Jafar, three days after the Battle of Plassey in 1757 and conferred concerning payment of the amounts stipulated by them before the battle was fought.
