Good morning guys, today we are here in Curubande in the Guanacaste province, we're going to check out some of the amazing waterfalls and river pools they have so let's go.

Curubande is a small district near Liberia, the capital city of Guanacaste and it has gotten very popular in the last couple years for hiking, nature, waterfalls and rivers. For our day trip, we set off into the tropical dry forest with our two dogs, walking alongside the river called Rio Blanco.

One of the most unique features of the rivers here in Curubande is that you can see rivers with this beautiful light blue color which comes from the sulfur in the water because all these rivers come from the Rincon de la Vieja volcano.

For our hike, we had to go with a guide who actually did more than just show us the way, he shared stories and legends about Curubande and the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano.
Something that amazed me the whole time was that we were walking in between two amazing canyons.

Here we are the Canon de la Lechuza. All of this formation here, this is volcanic rock and you can see it has this shape and it was formed from all the lava of the last eruption of the volcano.

This hike turned out to be quite an adventure as we climbed through canyons and up steep hills and rocks. And then finally, our guide said it was time to go swimming.

Vamos, are you ready? Let's go swimming. Doggos are ready they have all their lifejackets.

We had reached one of the bluest parts of the Rio Blanco so we had to stop for a swim in the cool and refreshing water.

After our swim, we continued on for a little bit and then our guide said we were at the last part to our destination, the La Leona waterfall. To get to the waterfall, we had to swim through the canyon and into the cave and in the cave, we would finally see the waterfall.

The waterfall was incredible, especially during the moment as you approach the cave and hear the roar of the water. However, the entire journey to get there was the highlight for me. We had so much fun swimming with our dogs, learning about the canyons, caves and wildlife that roam around the river and exploring all other little nooks and crannies of the Rio Blanco.

So those were the beautiful waterfalls and pools of the Rio Claro river. I hope you guys enjoyed watching this video and for all the information on how to experience this beautiful place, click on the links in the description below. Thanks for watching.

Swimming in Llanos de Cortez Waterfall | Liberia, Costa Rica

In this video, we take a bus to the stunning Llanos de Cortez waterfall in Liberia, Costa Rica. However, since we took a bus, getting there wasn't as easy as we thought. However, walking down a dirt road in the blazing heat in Liberia, Costa Rica, made swimming in Llanos de Cortez that much better.

Liberia, Costa Rica, is located in what is called a dry rainforest, but what is that? Well, it means that there is little rainfall throughout the year, and as a result, it is scorching!

Hey guys, this is Samantha and welcome to another Mytanfeet video. in this video We are going to do part 1 of day trips in Guanacaste and these are going to be the best day trips from Tamarindo, Playas del Coco or any of the neighboring beaches. We have a lot to share with you so let's go.

Number one on our list is Rio Celeste, the sky blue river inside Tenorio Volcano National Park. Rio Celeste is the perfect day trip for hiking and nature lovers, as you will be trekking through the lush rainforest to see the waterfall and sky blue river. The entire trail is around 6 kilometers or 3.5 miles and is a must see in Costa Rica.

The next best day trip in Guanacaste is Diamante Eco Adventure Park. This adventure park is excellent for families as they have an animal sanctuary with daily sloth feeding presentations, a traditional house for a cultural experience of chocolate, coffee and sugar cane and one of the most exciting ziplining tours in the country. Their 1.3 kilometer oceanview zipline is a must do in Costa Rica for adrenaline junkies. They also offer an excellent lunch buffet.

Next is one of our most highly recommended day trips from Playas del Coco or Tamarindo, Palo Verde National Park. The Palo Verde day trip consists of a safari boat tour down the Tempisque River to see wildlife such as iguanas, bats, monkeys, crocodiles and river birds. It doesn't require any strenuous activity so Palo Verde is the perfect day trip in Guanacaste for those who are visiting with seniors or young kids as you will be riding a covered motorized riverboat and it takes about half a day so you can be back at your hotel by mid afternoon. Palo Verde offers a highly interesting and educational wildlife watching experience for all visitors.

The next day trip in Guanacaste is for the surfers, a surf trip to Witch's Rock. There are a ton of surfing beaches in Guanacaste including Tamarindo but for those looking for the ultimate surf experience, a Witch's Rock surf trip is a must. You'll boat about an hour from Playas del Coco to the iconic surf spot inside Santa Rosa National Park and on heavy days with a swell, waves can get up to 6 feet or more, ideal for those dreaming of getting barrelled in Costa Rica. On normal days, waves are absolutely perfect for longboarding and shortboarding, with long, open and glassy A-frame waves.

The last day trip in this video is the La Leona waterfall hike. This waterfall hike is only 30 minutes from Liberia and you'll be hiking in the tropical dry forest, swimming in a beautiful blue river and climbing through caves and canyons to get to a hidden cave waterfall. The La Leona waterfall hike is definitely for those looking for a memorable outdoor activity and after the fun hike, you can relax in their natural blue river pools.

I hope you guys enjoyed the video and if you're interested in any of these activities, we have links to our posts in the description below for more details and you can contact us if you want to book any of these tours. Thanks for watching and we'll see you in the next one.

La Leona Waterfall Walkthrough & Review | Liberia, Costa Rica

About Episode 096:

In this episode I return to Catarata La Leona to retrace our footsteps from Kingston’s birthday in 2021 when we visited for the first time. Unfortunately, all the footage from this adventure, including whitewater rafting was lost due to the failure of my external harddrive. Although I made the trip solo, I was able to capture the same magic we experienced on our first visit. I would highly recommend Finca Don Rafa's adventure tours if you are in the Liberia area and looking for an adrenaline inducing adventure!

La Leona Waterfall in Liberia, Costa Rica ????????

#waterfall #liberia #costarica
???????? One of the most interesting hikes I did in Costa Rica.

You cross rivers, do a little swimming in between beautiful mountain sides, go through caves and see beautiful rock formations, hold onto ropes to cross some slippery/rocky terrains, hike on narrow hill sides (do becareful, watch your step - hold onto things if you need to, the sides are steep).

After the indiana jones hike, you reach the waterfall, like a final boss/stage, you have to swim/pull rope against the water current through a crevice to get to the waterfall.

It is one of the most unique waterfalls, as it is a 'closed' waterfall, located inside an enclosed cave instead of being outside.

Keep in mind - because you will enter the water, wearing sun-screen or bug repellant on your skin will pollute the water. If you want to preserve nature, wear long sleeves instead to prevent mosquito bites.

I paid $25 USD for the group hike with guide - and I highly recommend it ‘La Leona Waterfall Official - Catarata La Leona’ on google maps.

Many thanks to the people who made this a great experience:

Good morning you guys, welcome to another Mytanfeet video. Today we are here with Randall our friend who is an excellent naturalist guide and he's going to take us on a rainforest walk in Bijagua.

Bijagua is a small town in the Alajuela province, just 87 kilometers or 54 miles from Liberia International Airport.

This area is famous for its rainforest and nature, so for our day trip, Randall took us to the Heliconias Rainforest Lodge private reserve to walk through their protected primary rainforest.

The trail is 2.2 kilometers and normally it'll take us between 2 and 2 and a half hours depending on what we see. We pass through 3 hanging bridges, this is great because it gives us an excellent point to appreciate the canopy and the forest itself from a different perspective and point.

Having a guide take us through the tropical rainforest was an amazing experience. Randall shared with us interesting facts about the rainforest and why its so important to conserve, respect and protect nature. He also pointed out the many animals hiding in the trees like snakes, insects and birds.

So whenever you're with a guide who is really into birds or a birder, you know he always has his book and he'll show which one it is and this is what we're always looking at when we're not walking. We have to see, we have to know what we saw.

What book is that one? The Birds of Costa Rica.

And we also got to see one of our favorite reptiles of Costa Rica.

Now that is a beautiful animal!

After our hanging bridges walk, we headed to another reserve in Bijagua to see an animal that Costa Rica is very well known for. Sloths.

We are now on this second trail and the main reason we are here is to look for sloths. It's a very small family owned reserve. We can find two species of sloths here, the three toed and two toed sloths. Thanks to small projects like these, family owned, is that we have chances to see these animals in their natural habitats. In this nature serve, it's surrounded by human activity such as farming and cattle farming so it works like a small sanctuary to these types of species.

That was our day in Bijagua, Randall thank you so much for taking us we had such a great time because this is rainforest, completely different from where we live so in only a couple of hours we can experience this beautiful nature and rainforest.

Thank you you guys for visiting it's been a pleasure for me too.

Awesome, so if you guys are interested, just click on all the links in the description below and don't forget to subscribe to our channel for more Costa Rica content.

Hiking to La Leona Waterfall - Costa Rica

La Leona waterfall is a small blue waterfall hidden deep in the canyons and caves of the a gorgeous blue river. It is located in Guanacaste Costa Rica, specifically in the small town of Curubande on Finca Don Rafs, which is a private estate owned by a local family. It is about a 30 minute drive from Liberia downtown.

In this video, Sierra hikes through the local area to La Leona, including swimming, crawling through caves and rock climbing.

This waterfall is located close to Rincón de la Vieja Volcano in the town of Curubandé. A beautiful waterfall with turquoise blue waters along the hike. We’ll start our hike through a canyon and inside the tropical forest. Most of the trail is next to the Blanco River, walking through caves and sometimes even swimming to go around big rocks that surround this place.

La Catedral Waterfall (El Santuario), Costa Rica

The hike to La Catedral waterfall - also known as El Santuario - starts from the Blue River Resort in Alajuela. Located on the north side of Rincon de la Vieja, this rain forest gets a tone of water dumped on it, and the rivers reflect that. They are raging! With it's cavernous 50-foot walls that forma cave around it and gave it it's name, La Catedral is one of the most unique waterfalls I've seen in Costa Rica.
