Cheapest Private Room on Japan's Overnight Sleeper Train ???? 12 Hour Trip from Tokyo 寝台特急サンライズ出雲 vlog
Sunrise Express Izumo & Seto (寝台特急サンライズ出雲瀬戸号) is Japan's only overnight sleeper train which runs everyday (日本で唯一の毎日運行の夜行列車). Today, I book the cheapest private room called “Solo” (最安の個室 B寝台個室ソロ) from Tokyo Station to Izumoshi Station (東京駅から出雲市駅). It's a 950km (590 miles) trip that takes about 12 hours. When booking a Solo room, even if you are a foreign tourist with a JR pass, you will need to go to the ticket office and pay an additional sleeper private room fee in advance. In addition, I recommend you reserve a seat on the right side. This is because you can see other trains and a nice view of Lake Shinji. When you arrive in Izumo, it's a good idea to visit the famous Izumo Taisha Shrine (officially Izumo Oyashiro 出雲大社 いずもおおやしろ) and eat the local specialty, Wariko Soba noodles (割子蕎麦).

* So many security cameras at Tokyo Station.
* Taking a warm shower on the train while it's snowing outside was an unusual experience.
* If you have 12 hours, you can fly to the United States, but I felt that the slow journey itself was the real pleasure of traveling by train.
* The bed was fully flat and the mattress was soft so I didn't get tired at all.
* I recommend booking a seat on the right side of the train so you can see the other trains and the beautiful view of Lake Shinji.
* Just in case, I bought a lucky charm for marriage at Izumo Taisha Shrine. (For myself)
* Izumo City's soba noodle was is good because you can enjoy various flavors at once.

Sunrise Express (寝台特急サンライズ出雲 サンライズ瀬戸), a Japanese overnight train (夜行列車), is the only sleeper train that operates everyday in Japan :) Today I tried the most expensive First Class seat called “Single Deluxe (A寝台個室 シングルデラックス シングルDX)” and traveled from Tokyo Station to Takamatsu Station (東京→高松). It’s a luxurious unique and clean reserved seat that has its own washbasin and desk.
Even if you have a JR pass (All-you-can-ride ticket only for foreign travelers), you will have to pay extra for a private sleeping room. But if you take the Nobi Nobi seat (ノビノビ座席), the cheapest seat instead, you don't have to pay any additional charge. But in any case, you need to go to the ticket office and reserve a seat beforehand.

Today I tried the cheapest seat called “Nobi Nobi seat (ノビノビ座席)” and traveled from Osaka Station to Tokyo Station for the first time. It’s a unique and clean reserved seat that you can lie down on. Today, I book the second cheapest and most standard private room called “Single” (B寝台個室シングル) from Izumoshi Station to Tokyo Station (出雲市駅から東京駅). It's a 950km (590 miles) trip that takes about 12 hours. It's the longest train ride in Japan.
I recommend you reserve a seat on the right side. This is because you can see the sunrise over the sea.

* The station staff at Izumoshi Station was cheerful and kind.
* At Izumoshi Station, unlike Tokyo Station, I didn't have to wait in line at the platform early to buy a shower card.
* Even the second cheapest and most standard seat was comfortable enough.
* It was nice that the Single Room had a small desk that was just right for eating light meals.
* I couldn't see anything from the window while the train was running in the countryside at night.
* If you book a seat on the right side, you can see the sunrise over the sea and other trains passing by.
* But, you will get a sunburn. And the sounds of the passing trains are a little noisy.

No. 1! A charger with at least 2 ports
Since there is only one outlet, this is a must for anyone who is bringing something other than a smartphone that needs to be charged! I brought a charger that can charge 4 ports!
2nd place! Towel
If you shower, you must have one! I completely forgot to bring one and rushed to buy one after I bought my shower card!
It was sold at a store on the platform where the Sunrise Izumo departs! It was probably about 400 yen.
Third place! Food, a travel companion.
Sunrise Izumo does not have on-board vending machines.
Since it is a long trip (12 hours), you will need a packed lunch, water, and something to fill your stomach (^ ^).
It is fun to spend time choosing a bento or buying snacks before boarding the train, isn't it?

✔︎Earplugs
The sound of the train running is pleasant, but if it bothers you when you sleep, earplugs might be a good idea. Also, you may be surprised to hear other people opening and closing doors.
✔︎Anti-sickness medicine
I didn't need it, but the train is unexpectedly bumpy!
People who get drunk may get drunk.

今回はサンライズ瀬戸の東京～高松間に乗車しています。

日本で唯一定期運行している寝台特急サンライズ瀬戸に乗ってきました。
東京に住んでいると見られない光景がたくさん見られてとても充実した旅でした。特に窓から見える広大な海は最高です。畑や田んぼが多くある地域や自然豊かな景色も見ることができるので、胸を張って人におすすめできる寝台特急です。
今回は一番安いBシングル・ソロを選択したのですが思った以上に寝心地がよかったです。
次はデラックスやツインルームも乗ってみたいですね。

The Sunrise Express is the only regular sleeper train still in operation in Japan. It connects Tokyo and western major cities such as Osaka. There are two main types of seats available: private rooms and tatami style seats.
