জগৎ শেঠ পরিবার আঠারো শতকে প্রতিষ্ঠিত একটি ব্যাংকার-পরিবার। সন্দেহের কোন অবকাশ নেই যে, প্রধানত জগৎ শেঠের সহযোগিতার কারণেই পলাশীর যুদ্ধের মতো বড় ঘটনাটি সংঘঠিত হয়েছিলো। ১৭৫৭ সালের যুদ্ধের পরবর্তী রাজনৈতিক প্রবাহ এমন ছিলো যে, জগৎ শেঠ কার্যত বাংলার নবাবে পরিণত হন। ইনি একজন ধনকুবের ছিলেন - সেটা ওনার বাড়ির নানারকম সরঞ্জাম থেকেই বোঝা যায় । এখানে মাটির নিচে একটা মিউজিয়াম আছে ।

The Jagat Seth were a banking family and the title of the eldest son of the family. The family sometimes referred to as the House of Jagat Seth, were a wealthy business, banking and money lender family from Murshidabad, Bengal region in the eastern part of the Indian subcontinent, during the time of Nawab Siraj-ud-Daula.
Jaget Seth was a title conferred by the Nawab of Bengal and can be interpreted as banker of merchant of the world.

The Jagat Seth were the most powerful bankers of India during the first half of 18th century. Robert Orme described Jagat Seths as the greatest shroff and banker in the known world.
According to Nick Robins:- The Jagat Seths were unrivalled in northern India for their financial power. Known as 'banker of the world', this Marwari family had build up formidable economic resources on the back of its control of the imperial mint and extensive moneylending. They wielded this financial clout at the Bengali court and were judged to be 'the chief cause of revolutions in Bengal' by a French commentator at the time.

The Jagat Seths were a rich business, banking and money lender family from Murshidabad, Bengal region in the eastern part of the Indian subcontinent, during the time of Nawab Siraj-ud-Daula.
Jain Acharya Sri Bhratruchandra Suri was his spiritual guru. The Seths were among the most powerful bankers of India during the first half of 18th century. Roben Orme (official historian of East India Company) described Jagat Seths as the greatest shroff (money changer) and banker in the known world.

He, along with Omichund and Mir Jafar joined the successful conspiracy against the Nawab, engineered by Robert Clive, due to which the Nawab lost the battle of Plassey. The British East India company thus emerged as a major power broker in India. Mir Jafar became the ruler of Bengal with the support of East India company. The Jagat Seth family were beheaded in 1763, during the reign of Mir Jafar's successor, by the troops of Mir Qasim. Mir Qasim was initially supported by the East India Company as he was in friendly terms, but later he had attempted to curb their power and throw them out of Eastern India.

Jahan kosha cannon literally means the destroyer of the world. It was built by craftsman Jonar Dan Karmokar of Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh???????? in 1637 AD. during the reign of Shah Jahan. The cannon is made of asta dhatu or 8 metals namely gold, silver, copper, tin, lead, iron, zink, & mercury. The cannon measures 17.5ft. in length and weighs 16,880 Ib. we will relive the history of Murshidabad where Mir Jafar betrayed the Nawab of Bengal and the Jahan Kosha Cannon built by the Nawab 300 yrs. back.
It was early 18 th. century that the Mughal emperor conferred the title Jagat Seth ( Banker of the world) to the house that had helped make Bengal one of the highest revenue paying regions of the mughal empire. The empire also appointed the head of the banking house the treasurer general of Bengal. He were in a bengali jain family. The family sometimes referred to as the House Of Jagat Seth were this Indian history.
Motijheel literally translation Pearl lake, also known as Company Bagh Eito Rito broto Nath due to its association with the East India Company is a horse- Shoe shaped lake in Murshidabad, West Bengal. India.
created by Nawazish Muhammad Khan, the Son-in-law of nawab Ali bardi khan. He
also constructed a precious palatial palace besides this lake which is called the Sang- I-Dalan, stone palace which is known as Motijheel palace. It was used as the residence of Nawazish and Gha seti Begum his beloved wife. It is said that after Nawazish death Gha seti Begum lived here until Nawab Siraj-Ul-Daula took over the palace 1756 AD. Motijheel was also the residence of Warren Hastings from 1771 to 1773.

A 250 year old big European architecture i.e. a house once resided by Governor General Warren Hastings in Barasat WB India was under severe negligence. Now it is finely renovated by Govt f India. This short video contains images of both conditions taken by me. Besides there is a clipping of a newspaper report written by me published on 25.04.2005 in Bartaman. The reign of Siraj-ud-daulla (1756-57) marked the entry of the British into the subcontinent's affairs. The nawab, peeved by the persistent British defiance of his wishes, marched to Calcutta and drove the British out of Fort Williams to their ships offshore. What followed was the 'Black Hole' incident, in which numerous English captives died of suffocation in a jail cell. Months later, the British, led by Robert Clive, retook Calcutta and plotted with Mir Jafar, Siraj-ud-Daula's general, to overthrow and assassinate the nawab in 1757 after the battle of Plassey (now Palashi)
