INCREDIBLE COLLAPSE TRIGGERED BY GLACIER CALVING | South America, Chile

An incredibly large chunk of the Grey Glacier's ice-sheet breaks off and flips over in a spectacular way in Southern Patagonia, Chile. The ice-sheet of the Grey Glacier is currently declining due to increasing temperatures and changes in rainfall. It is part of the 'Southern Patagonian Ice Field', the world's 2nd largest contiguous extrapolar ice field and the largest freshwater reservoir in South America.

The Grey Glacier is famous for insane glacier wall collapses during the summer when large icebergs – often up to 100 feet in height – are breaking off the glacier and collapsing into the water of the 'Lago Grey'. In the right time of the year big blocks of ice break off the glacier and drop into the water. The waves created by such glacier calving events often splash dozens of meters through the air. The glacier itself is about 6 km (3.7 mi) wide and has an average height of over 30 m (100 ft) above the surface of the water.

Thankfully, no-one was injured as boats stay at a safe distance from the glacier (for a good reason).

Glacier calving, also known as ice calving, or iceberg calving, is the breaking of ice chunks from the edge of a glacier. The sudden release and breaking away of a mass of ice from a glacier or iceberg often causes large waves around the area and can result in a shooter which is a large chunk of the submerged portion of the iceberg surfacing above the water. The ice that breaks away can be classified as an iceberg, but may also be a growler, bergy bit, or a crevasse wall breakaway. The entry of the ice into the water causes large, and often hazardous waves. (Find out more here:

Is CHILEAN PATAGONIA Difficult to Travel? | Let us guide you | Aysen Region | Chile TRAVEL VLOG

Chilean Patagonia can be difficult to navigate, especially the Aysen Region. With limited information online are we able to find our way to the Marble Caves and the Queulat National Park without having to hitch a ride? Watch now to find out...

We arrive from Argentina to the small border town, Chile Chico. Here we attempt to visit the famous marble caves and somehow get to the Aysen region capital, Coyhaique. Then from we attempt to visit the famous Hanging Glacier in the Queulat National Park. We don't have much time and the distances are vast, roads are long and our Spanish is sparse.

Watch us get through this tricky area of the world and see how we experienced Aysen.

We are so new to vlog travel, having just provided highlights set to music before (see the SE Asia series). SO this adventure is filmed and edited on the road, in hostels, on the ground with THE most slow WIFI. Having to travel and edit is going to be challenging. We would love for you to follow us in the journey and hope the videos provide good information if you are planning to travel to the area or just interested. If it helps just one of you, then thats amazing!

We are set to head to RIO for carnival and who knows! SO make sure to subscribe to see where we end up.

Join as we learn how to navigate this continent and this world, with a backpack on and camera set to record. Our day to day experiences, the highs and the low. REAL backpacking, hostels, transport.

Patagonia is a region that covers the southern end of both Argentina and Chile, and it is famous for its rugged mountains, icy glaciers, and stunningly beautiful landscapes. One of the most iconic attractions in Patagonia is the Perito Moreno Glacier, located near El Calafate, which is one of the largest glaciers in the world. For those who prefer to stay on the water, Patagonia offers some incredible kayaking experiences. The Nahuel Huapi Lake in Bariloche is a popular spot for kayaking and canoeing, where you can paddle through clear waters surrounded by snow-capped mountains and lush forests.

Horseback riding is also a popular activity in Patagonia, where you can explore the vast open landscapes and rugged terrain. There are many local ranches that offer guided horseback rides, including the Estancia Cristina in El Calafate.

We almost CAPSIZED in Patagonia Chile ???? Epic Kayaking in Torres Del Paine

We almost CAPSIZED in Patagonia Chile // Epic Kayaking in Torres Del Paine

In this travel vlog we continued exploring Torres Del Paine National Park in Patagonia Chile. This time by Kayaking in Patagonia! Kayaking Patagonia is a great way to see some places you might not normally get to see.

However, be warned, we almost capsized in the very beginning! The wind the day we went was really strong on Lago Grey in Torres Del Paine National Park in Patagonia Chile. The thought of kayak capsizing seems scary but with the right training you'll know how to deal with it. We were fortunate that we did not capsize but we did come close at the start of our epic kayaking adventure!

While we didn't make it out to glacier grey or get close to an iceberg, we still had a great time. The epic kayaking in Torres Del Paine included some decent rapids and some lazy kayaking as well!

We used a company called Big Foot Excursions for our Kayaking in Patagonia adventure. They were great, especially our guide Rodrigo! Paddling with Rodrigo was truly a great experience and adventure!

Other than the near capsize we had a wonderful time -- who am i kidding -- had we capsized for real this would have been a much more entertaining travel vlog! ????

For one year, I travelled around South America to create my best time-lapse video yet. This is how it went down.

In this episode, I travel to the far south of the continent, Patagonia! Here I walk the famous W-trek. This place is famous for the beautiful landscape, but the weather here is not for everyone.

Hitchhiking in Patagonia | Check-in

Globetrotter Steve Hänisch is hitchhiking along the Carretera Austral highway. His goal is the Queulat Glacier in Chile.

I CANT BELIEVE THIS IS PATAGONIA | TORRES DEL PAINE, CHILE

WE ARE IN PATAGONIA!!!

We were so excited to sail towards the Grey Glacier, until we got to the hotel and realised it's actually 125USD per person for a 3 hour trip!

Too expensive for us that are earning in Malaysian Ringgit, so we stayed at the shore, and hiked to the lookout point instead. We were glad we did that, as we managed to take a few timelapses of the panorama that were just simply epic (due to the microclimates).

Important fact:
The Grey Glacier is one of the 50 massive glaciers in the Patagonian Andes that is shrinking. It retreats by more than 450 feet annually.
Only the Perito Moreno and Pio XI glaciers in Patagonia is advancing.

Patagonia With Kids - Torres Del Paine Chile Travel - Week 14

We almost reached the bottom of the world. We flew into one of the farthest Northern towns in Chile, Punto Arenas, on the mainland. We then drive to Puerto Natales and visit the world-famous Torres Del Paine and Patagonia. It was breathtaking and I highly recommend visiting the area. It is pretty remote and cold during the time of year we visited, but 1000% worth it. We loved the people we met and the area.

If you have kids, go to Patagonia! There was so much wildlife, parks, walking trails, kind people, short hikes, and so much more. We found it very family-friendly.

Here's the link to the Airbnb we stayed in at Punto Arenas: The host was hands down one of the best we have ever had. If you are in the area, we would highly recommend staying with her.
