This is NOT a promotional video. I pay for all of my flights and hotels (and I always tell you how much!) so I can be as honest and impartial as possible. I do not receive any special treatment that wouldn’t otherwise be publicly accessible, in fact, the hotels and airlines have no idea about my visit and that's the way I like it!

Blogpost:

Overall impression:

Overall, our experiences flying with Japan Airlines (JAL) have been consistently positive, especially when traveling in business class. We particularly enjoy JAL's Sky Suite product (Apex Suite seat), which is available on their 787s and 777-300ERs for long-haul flights. While these seats may not be revolutionary, they are incredibly comfortable and perfect for lounging, relaxing, and getting some rest.

What I liked:

The JAL First Class Lounge in Haneda - Thanks to our Oneworld Emerald status, we had the opportunity to visit the JAL First Class Lounge at Haneda Airport. It's one of my personal favorites, and we always make it a priority to stop by when flying through Haneda. The lounge boasts plenty of comfortable seating options, including luxurious massage chairs, and the Japanese cuisine is absolutely delicious - every dish is freshly prepared and scrumptious.

The Catering - The dining experience on our flight from Tokyo was truly exceptional. The meals served were of restaurant quality and tasted absolutely delicious. One thing I particularly appreciated was the dine-on-demand service, which allowed us to order food whenever we wanted. The Japanese meal I ordered was not only fresh and delicious, but also elegantly presented. My companion's wagyu sirloin was equally impressive, expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. As a finale to the flight, we opted for the Miyazaki Wagyu Beef Curry for our pre-landing meal. It was a perfect choice - the dish was hearty, flavorful, and a great way to conclude our journey.

The Exceptional Service - The service we received from the flight attendants on our JAL flight was exceptional. From the moment we boarded the plane, the attendants were warm, welcoming, and eager to accommodate our needs. Throughout the flight, they consistently went above and beyond to ensure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed.

The Business Class Seats - JAL's Apex Suite seats in business class are arranged in a 2-3-2 configuration, which can feel slightly dense on the 777 aircraft. However, the seats themselves are incredibly comfortable for both lounging and sleeping, and each seat offers direct aisle access, which is a major plus. The adjustable seat functions, including a fully-flat bed mode, are easy to use and make it possible to get a good night's sleep on the flight.

What I didn’t like:

The In-flight Entertainment - The in-flight entertainment on our JAL flight offered a decent selection of content, with a variety of movies, TV shows, and music to choose from. However, one downside was that the interface was operated by a small remote control rather than a larger screen. This made browsing through the options less enjoyable and somewhat difficult. While the content itself was good, the overall experience of using the in-flight entertainment system could have been improved.

Lack of Individual Air Nozzles - The JAL flight did not have individual air nozzles, which was a personal preference issue for me. However, the flight crew maintained a comfortable cabin temperature throughout the flight. Overall, the lack of air nozzles was a minor inconvenience, but the attentive service helped make for an enjoyable flight.

It’s fine, I guess...

The Amenities - While JAL did not provide pajamas in their business class, they did offer slippers and cardigans for loan. The Sony noise-cancelling headphones provided had decent sound quality, but were not exceptional. The Maison Kitsune amenity kit was basic and minimal, and while the duvet and pillow were acceptable, the Airweave mattress pads provided an extra layer of comfort for sleeping. The lavatories on the JAL flight were impressively clean, stocked with toiletries, and even equipped with Toto washlets. Overall, while the amenities provided by JAL were not the most luxurious, they were functional and added to the overall comfort of the flight.

Bottom Line:
As always, Japan Airlines left us wanting more with our most recent flight. We almost didn't want the journey to end. Overall, our JAL flight was a positive experience with exceptional service, delicious dining options, and comfortable seating. Although there were minor inconveniences such as the lack of individual air nozzles and less-than-stellar in-flight entertainment, the attentive flight crew and overall comfort of the cabin helped make for an enjoyable journey. JAL remains one of our top choices when traveling to Japan and beyond.

JAPAN AIRLINES BUSINESS CLASS BOEING 777-300ER | HND-JFK

#japanairlines #jal #businessclass #jfk #hnd #japan #すごい

Overall Impression:

Japan Airlines' Sky Suite Business Class product has been out for a few years now, but I've never had the chance to try it until now. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the seat was. There are 49 JAL Sky Suites (a.k.a. B.E. Aerospace's Apex Suite) business class seats on the Boeing 777-300ER, which are configured in a 2-3-2 layout. I was initially worried that the seat might feel cramped because of the dense layout, but my worries went away as soon as I sat in the seat. The shoulder and legroom were more than adequate for me. The seat reclines to a full flat bed. In addition to the supplied full size pillow and duvet, the crew also places an airweave mattress on the bed upon request, which made the bed super comfortable. The window seats are notably more private than the aisle seats, but the aisle seats have an extra side storage compartment which the window seats lack. The food were all catered from Haneda which means that they were excellent quality and the crew did a good job in the presentation. Service was efficient and polite, but the crew felt a bit disconnected and cold to non-Japanese passengers. My only biggest gripe with this product is the lack of overhead air nozzles considering JAL keeps their cabin a bit too warm for my liking, the air vents would have made a big difference. Please join me and let's fly with JAL's business class.

What I liked:

JAL First Class Lounge at Haneda Airport - The JAL First Class Lounge in HND is one of my favorite lounges in the Oneworld Alliance. We have access to the lounge via our Oneworld Emerald status. As you can see from the video, there's plenty of food and beverage options including made to order hot food. There's also plenty of seating, including a smoking room for those who smoke.

The Seat - The seats offers plenty of shoulder and legroom space and reclines into a full flat bed. The window seats takes the cake for privacy and aisle wins for storage space.

The food - Onboard catering was excellent, especially if you like Japanese food. I ordered the Japanese lunch set and it was amazing and very nicely presented. You can also order from the anytime dining menu at any given time during the flight.

The onboard service - The flight attendants delivered excellent and polished service during the flight. Though the service was not as warm as other Asian carriers, I still think the crew was well intentioned and eager to please. I was proactively offered drink refills and the crew always responded to my please and thank yous. :)

What I didn't like:

The IFE - This plane uses JAL's Magic V Entertainment system. Sadly, it seems you can only navigate the IFE content using the touchscreen remote, which I'm not real fond of. There were a good amount of new movies, TV and Audio content, and even some games.

The cabin temperature and no air nozzles - JAL is notorious for having a very warm cabin which is not everyone's cup of tea. I personally like a cooler cabin, which more conducive to sleep. Sadly, this flight was a bit too warm for me, and air nozzles would have helped me cool down.

It was OK...I guess:

The onboard bar - During the flight, the crew sets up a walk-up bar near the galley for some self-service snacks and beverages. Sadly the bar was very basic with just a few selections or snacks and wines, unlike other carrier's very extensive snack selections.

JAPAN AIRLINES BUSINESS CLASS 777-300ER NEW YORK TO TOKYO

Airline: Japan Airlines
Flight Number: JL5
Route: JFK-HND
Class: Business Class
Aircraft: Boeing 777-300ER
Registration: JA742J
Delivered: September 2009
Flight Duration: 13 Hours
Distance: 6,772 Miles

Blogpost:

Japan Airlines is a Skytrax 5-Star Airline, and rightfully so. I really enjoyed my 13-hour flight with them across the Pacific to Tokyo. Comfortable seats, friendly flight attendants, and restaurant quality meals at 30,000 feet.

What I liked:

The Catering - The catering and food were the clear winner of this flight. The meals were served beautifully and they tasted fresh and delicious. I also love the dine on demand service.

The Friendly Service - The in-flight service from the crew was very quick, efficient, and most importantly friendly with a smile.

The seats - JAL has the Apex Suite for their business class seats laid out in a 2-3-2 configuration. Despite the dense abreast layout, these seats are very comfortable for lounging, and sleeping and all business class seats, including the middle seats have direct aisle access.

What I didn’t like:

Long Security Lines at JFK- JFK is well-known for having long wait times at security, and this trip was no different. The security line was very long and very disorganized. We had to wait over 40 minutes just to get through.

No Personal Air Nozzles - Sadly this aircraft was not fitted with personal air nozzles. Good thing they kept the cabin temperature cool during the flight.

The IFE - The IFE offered plenty of content, but I just wasn't a fan of having the browse through all the content using the tiny remote instead of the big screen.

It’s fine...

The Lufthansa Senator Lounge at JFK - Our Oneworld Emerald status gained us access to the Lufthansa Senator lounge at JFK, which supposedly offers enhanced food and beverage options. The lounge is rather small with limited seating, and the food and drink selections were rather forgettable.

The Amenities – JAL does not do pajamas in business class, but they do offer slippers and loaner cardigans. The Sony noise canceling headphones is not the best, but sound quality was acceptable. The maison kitsune amenity kit was a bit basic though.

Overall impression:

I love Japan Airlines! They're not as overrated as Cathay Pacific, or as blingy and opulent as Qatar or Emirates, but the certainly offer a solid business class product.

The Apex suite seats are one of the highly praised seats in the industry. Pair that with great hospitality, and delicious restaurant quality food and you have awesome flight. Great job, JAL! Can't wait for the next flight with you!

Overall Impression:
Irasshaimase! Come join me and let's fly Japan Airlines Business Class to Tokyo!

Japan Airlines (JAL) is one of my favorite airlines, as I love anything Japan. JAL's Boeing 777-300ER flight from LAX-NRT offers 4 classes of service ranging from First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class. There are 49 seats in business class configured in a 2-3-2 staggered layout. All seats have direct aisle access, and turn into a full flat bed. Onboard service was excellent. Although I felt that there was a slight language barrier, as the flight attendants working our aisle were a bit reserved to us, but not to other Japanese passengers. The food was amazing! I was a bit iffy about the catering from LAX, but our meals were delicious and beautifully presented. Overall I think JAL offers a solid business class product. The seats are comfortable, service very good, and food pure awesomeness! Now, if only they can fit their planes with air nozzles!

What I liked:
Qantas First Class Lounge at LAX - We got access to the Qantas First Class Lounge via our Oneworld Emerald Status. This is my favorite lounge at LAX. There's plenty of food and beverage options including a sit down restaurant with made to order food and a full bar inside the lounge. There's also plenty of seating to lounge and relax before the flight.

The Seats - I like the JAL Sky Suite product on the Boeing 777-300ER. The seat offer plenty of space, privacy, comfort for the 11.5 hour flight to Japan. The configuration is 2-3-2, but the staggered layout helps give passengers more room and privacy. All business class seats including the middle seat offer direct aisle access. My only complaint, is the seat width is a little on the narrow side, so bigger folks beware.

The Food - JAL calls its First and Business Class menu offerings BEDD, Sky Auberge, Your exclusive restaurant in the sky, and it really is. Onboard catering was excellent, especially if you like Japanese food. I ordered the Japanese meal for the first meal, and it was very colorful and nicely presented. Most of all it tasted amazing! My companion opted for the western set, and it was also nicely plated and he said it was delicious! After the first meal, JAL offers a dine-on-demand concept, where you can order any item from the anytime menu. Mid-flight, I had the JAL healthy ramen (vegetarian), while my companion ordered the mapo tofu bowl (vegetarian) along with a cup of ice cream for a snack. Both snack items were very filling and tasty! If the snacks don't fill you up, there's also an onboard snackbar with light snacks, wine, bottled waters, and magazines if you get bored. 2 hours before landing, I ordered the bacon, ham, and egg burrito set, while my companion ordered the Japanese set, which was steamed fish, miso soup, rice, and pickles. Needless to say, companion and I were both very pleased (and full!) with all our onboard meals on this flight.

The Onboard Service - The flight attendants delivered excellent and polished service during the flight. Though I believe they were a bit reserved because of the language barrier, I still think the crew was well-intentioned and very eager to please. Pre-departure beverage service with hot towels were offered. I was also proactively offered drink refills and the crew always responded to my please and thank yous. The flight attendants also regularly checked on passengers if they needed anything during the flight.

What I didn't like:
The IFE - This plane uses JAL's Magic V Entertainment system. There was a good number of  movies, TV programs, and Audio content, and even some games, but I am not a fan of having to navigate through all the content with just the touchscreen on the small remote. There is also a pretty basic moving map, which can be viewed on the IFE monitor.

The Cabin Temperature - JAL is notorious for having a very warm cabin which is not everyone's cup of tea. I personally like a cooler cabin, which more conducive to sleep. Sadly, this flight was a bit to warm for me. Also, the lack of personal air vents did not help get the cabin cool.

It was OK...I guess:
The Airplane - The Boeing 777-300ER is the workhorse for a lot of airlines because of its range, capacity, and most importantly its fuel consumption. However, with the release of the 787 Dreamliner, and Airbus A350, I feel that the airplane is past its prime. This aircraft is 14 years old, as it was delivered in 2005, but it was well maintained and kept very clean by the crew.

Blogpost:

After a wonderful flight from Manila, we were looking forward to be flying with Japan Airlines (JAL) longhaul. We've always had very good experience with JAL in business class prior to the pandemic and we were very excited to see if there has been any changes since then. As some of you may know, I am a fan of the Apex Suite seat which JAL has installed on their long haul configured 787s and 777-300ERs. The airline has done some minor upholstery updates to the seat, but for the most part it was still very comfortable for lounging and sleeping. In terms of the service, we noticed that a lot of the ground staff and in-flight crew were new, but that did not detract from the service. The flight attendants we interacted with were charming and offered excellent service during the meals. Now for the catering, which I think is the real star with JAL. I might be a bit bias because I love Japanese food, but I found everything that I ordered onboard to be fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented.

What I liked:

The JAL First Class Lounge at Narita- Our Oneworld Emerald status gained us access to JAL First Class Lounge at Narita Airport. The downstairs bar and lounge were closed during our visit, but it will most likely open soon since Japan has reopened its borders again. The dining room is upstairs and offers high quality made to order food and beverages via smartphone app.

The Catering - The catering out of Narita was amazing on this flight. The meals were restaurant quality and tasted delicious. I also love the dine on demand service.

The Friendly Service - The crew we interacted with were very friendly and eager to please. They were proactive in offering us drink refills and checked on us from time to time if we needed anything.

The seats - JAL has the Apex Suite for their business class seats laid out in a 2-3-2 configuration. Despite the dense abreast layout, these seats are very comfortable for lounging, and sleeping and all business class seats have direct aisle access.

What I didn’t like:

The IFE - The IFE offered plenty of content, but I just wasn't a fan of having the browse through all the content using the tiny remote instead of the big screen.

No personal air nozzles - Sadly another pet peeve of mine is an aircraft's lack of personal air nozzles, but the crew was nice enough to keep the cabin temperature cool during the flight.

It’s fine, I guess...

The Amenities – JAL does not do pajamas in business class, but they do offer slippers and loaner cardigans. The Sony noise canceling headphones is not the best, but sound quality was acceptable. The Maison Kitsune amenity kit was also barebones basic. The lavatories were recently refurbished and spotlessly clean with Toto washlets.

Overall impression:

I love Japan Airlines! We've had great food and service from the airline before the pandemic, and we found the service and food offerings to be consistent with our previous flights with them. Pair that with the Apex suite seats, which are one of best business class seats in the industry and you have a winning combo. We look forward to flying with JAL again real soon!

Japan Airlines' BEST Business Class | Tokyo to Bangkok | Boeing 777 Apex Suite

I flew with Japan Airlines Boeing 777-300ER in JAL SKY SUITE Business Class from Tokyo Narita Airport to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport.

The JAL B777-300ER seat type is known as the 'Apex Suites', every suite offers direct aisle access. The seat was great, the meal quality was also nice. The cabin crew was pretty awesome and attentive. It was a very pleasant experience!

JAPAN AIRLINES B777-300 JL52 Business Class - Sydney to Tokyo (Haneda) (4K)

Sydney Airport to Tokyo (Haneda) on Japan Airlines, 24th December 2022

Being the day before Christmas, Sydney International Airport (T1) was like a zoo in the morning due to the number of people flying.

Check in was smooth, with a nice upgrade given from Economy to Premium Economy.

Whilst waiting for boarding, spent some time in the Qantas First Lounge, enjoying some Sweet Corn Fritters and Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon.

Boarding the JAL B777-300 was a short walk to gate 25, where I was paged soon after... now upgraded to a Business Class Sky Suite... THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

Seat was very comfortable, especially when the mattress pad was put in place for lying flat.

The food was amazing, starting with an assortment plate, then a Beef Fillet Steak and Chocolate Mousse for dessert.

Pre arrival meal was the Seafood Chowder, Cheese Plate followed by Ice Cream, Fruit and a coffee.

After arriving at Tokyo (Haneda) headed straight up to the JAL First Lounge for another bite to eat, and a shower. This lounge is something else.

All filmed on the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max

Japan Airlines Sky Suite Boeing 777-300ER | Chicago ORD - Tokyo NRT

Welcome to my first ever flight/trip report video! I'm excited to share my experience flying with Japan Airlines (JAL) on their Sky Suite from Chicago O'Hare to Tokyo Narita. We followed all safety protocols by the airlines and our destinations. It helps that there were only two of us in Business Class. JAL provided 5-Star service all throughout and I couldn't be happier with my experience flying with them for the first time. When you get the chance, fly JAL!
