When you think of Italy what places do you think of going to? Florence, Rome, Venice, etc. are what come to mind right? Well, you need to seriously think of going to Elba Island.
Elba Island is one of the most beautiful places in the world. It is comparable to the beauty of Hawaii but at a fraction of the cost. The views are stunning, the beaches are quiet and of course, the food is amazing. We never knew about Elba Island until my family told me about it. To us, Elba Island is a must-see! It is a short train and ferry ride from Florence. You won't regret it.

Elba Island, Italy's Secret Paradise: Amazing Cities And Beautiful Beaches
Today we dedicate a little time to Elba Island, Italy's Secret Paradise Elba. We will take a day cruise around the island in the company of the cheerful Captain Silviero and we will see Amazing Cities And Beautiful Beaches.

The island of Elba is the largest of the Tuscan islands and embodies the charm and exclusivity of an area rich in nature, history, and civilization from the ancient Etruscan, Roman and medieval people.
Portoferraio, the capital, and almost mandatory docking for those arriving on Elba. This town is the most populated on the island and holds great treasures of Elban culture.
Remembrance of the ancient Romans is the remains of Villa della Linguella, at the end of the seafront, and of Villa delle Grotte, on the provincial road that connects Portoferraio with Porto Azzurro.
From the Middle Ages, all the charm of the domination of the De 'Medici family remained. Cosimo I de 'Medici had an impregnable fortress built which is still perfectly visible today.
To commemorate the presence of the Emperor of France, Napoleon, who was forced into a long exile on Elba, there are the Napoleonic museums in the Villa Dei Mulini, inside the historic center, and in Villa San Martino, just outside the city.
Another place rich in history is the Volterraio Castle, on the homonymous road that connects the municipality of Rio Elba with Magazzini. Built by the Pisans, during their domination, as a sighting place, today it is an essential destination for trekking lovers and for those who want to admire a magnificent view over the central part of the island.
It seems incredible but a few meters away there are realities so different from each other that Elba is like made up of many small worlds. Eight municipalities: Portoferraio, Marciana, Marciana Marina, Campo Nell Elba, Porto Azzurro, Rio Marina, Capoliveri, Rio Elba seem to be small worlds apart from each one with its culture, traditions, and also the linguistic and architectural cadence of the historic centers.

Ischia, how is this place still a secret? It's only a 45 min ferry ride from Naples, a short boat ride from Capri, and it's still unknown to most travelers. Ischia has been on our bucket list for some time. Fortunately we were able to travel this hidden italian island. We put plenty of miles on our scooter exploring all the hidden beaches and beautiful castles of Ischia. Ischia, Italy is off the coast of napoli and amalfi coast. It's neighboring island is procida.

Elba Island, Italy's Secret Paradise - Capoliveri, Tuscany Walk
Today we will take a walk around Capoliveri, a small town on the Elba island. Walking along capoliveri you will discover Italy's Secret Paradise. Нave a nice walk.
Walking through the streets, you can breathe in the charming medieval atmosphere of the city with narrow and picturesque arcaded staircases called Chiasso, small craft shops, and beautiful places where you can enjoy typical meals or a glass of good wine.
Along the two main streets of Via Roma and Via Ciro Menotti, you can find numerous shops where you can buy gift items and local crafts as well as delicious restaurants and trattorias where you can taste traditional local food.
Piazza Giacomo Matteotti is the city's main square from where the belvedere opens with a view of the sea, the hills, and the lowlands of the Mola. Right here is a statue depicting two lovers embracing. Maria e Lorenzo the sign below with the inscription reads: To the woman who feels like Mary
The Innamorata commemorative festival takes place every year on July 14th. A breathtaking event that tells the ancient legend of two young lovers, Lorenzo and Maria. A large procession in medieval clothing crosses the city center to Innamorata beach, where the theatrical performance begins.
Hidden between the streets of Capoliveri there is a special, unexpected angle that opens up when descending the old staircase behind Piazza Matteotti
It is Borgo Degli Artisti, where painters, sculptors, poets, and writers meet in the ancient historic center of Capoliveri and bring art and culture to life.

Enchanting Elba - Go see this overlooked Italian island
A too short visit to the island of Elba, off the Tuscan coast. We stay in the main town of Portoferraio and do some driving day trips to a few of the small towns. This island is gorgeous and worth the ferry ride to see.

Beaches on Island of Elba
More than 140 kilometres of coastline. From the ultra-fine sand of the beaches of Cavoli and Fetovaia, famous for the iridescent colour of their water, to the sea-honed cliffs of Sant'Andrea. And from the distinctive white shingle beaches around Portoferraio like Le Ghiaie or Capo Bianco to the lunar coastline of the eastern shore, where the minerals blend into the sand to render it iridescent.
