Cinque Terre, Italy Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore

We're traveling along the coast of Italy on the Mediterranean shores to Cinque Terre, visitng all five towns in this complete travel video:
Monterosso 1:17 , Vernazza 7:38 , Corneglia 17:09 , Manarola 19:14 , Riomaggiore 22:20
MONTEROSSO: Were starting out and Monterosso and then we're going to show you all five of these little villages visiting one of the most scenic parts of Italy, Cinque Terre, the five villages that run along the coastline of the Italian Riviera. Monterosso on the north end of the chain is largest of the five hamlets and makes a good home base because it has 20 hotels, the only sandy beach, excellent restaurants, and the start of the hiking trail. It is also the only one in which long-distance trains stop, so it is easy to reach by rail service from throughout Europe.
VERNAZZA: The next destination down the coast is Vernazza, which you could reach in 5 minutes by train, 10 minutes by boat, or 90 minutes walking. We take the boat. Vernazza may be the most beautiful of all, set perfectly in a tiny valley on the edge of the sea, with colorful homes built one on top of the next and framed by a couple of churches and towers. It’s a little bigger than Corniglia and Manarola, and yet it is still very, very small – so small that you c ould walk from one end to the other in about 10 minutes, but you’ll want to slow down and get into the local pace. There’s no rush here. Locals are just hanging out. They are enjoying life as much as the visitors do. The buildings have been standing for many centuries and they’re not going anywhere, so take your time, explore the little side alleys, and yes, there are going to be staircases. After all, these are hill-towns, so there are hardly any flat, level surfaces here, but it’s easy enough. We show one special viewpoint you reach with a short walk up the steps that makes the entire journey worthwhile, as you stand on a ledge looking straight down into the pastel-colored village wrapped around its tiny harbor.
CORNIGLIA: Corniglia is unique among these five villages because it's up on the hill. It has no direct access to the water, so this is a hilltop village, one of the oldest, perhaps the oldest of all of them. You can arrive by train in 5 minutes from Vernazza, then walk up the stairs to reach the village. This little speck of a town is worth seeing becaumse it is the smallest and most isolated, and perhaps the oldest. Yes, there are going to be more stairs -- but just a little bit of climbing will get you around. The main “street” is only a few feet wide. And it seems there are more locals than tourists out and about. You will soon come to the tiny main square of Corniglia, which is about 10 yards by 20 yards in dimension but big enough to hold some tables and host picnic lunches for intrepid hikers. From this lofty perch you can see down the coast to the next destination, Manarola.
MANAROLA: Arriving by boat, we see how Manarola spills down the hill to the waterfront, its houses packed solidly together in the typical pattern of the region, with terraced hillsides for the grapes up above. They don’t have a beach but there is a boat ramp carved into the stone, the most popular spot around for it functions like a beach, packed with sunbathers. The ramp leads to a cove with good swimming, further protected by a stone jetty, and ladders to help people get in and out of the water. There’s no room to put the boats in the water so they are stored up on dry land, on a ramp and along the main street as well. There are quite a few local residents who like to hang out, sit on the bench, chat with their friends and do some people-watching. Tourists love to look at the locals, and locals equally enjoy looking back at the tourists. You could pick up picnic supplies or sit in one of the many terrace restaurants here. It’s a small place but there is a nice selection of pizzerias and take-out food or of course, the ever-present pasta.
RIOMAGGIORE Regular ferry service connects each of the villages, and from Manarola it is just a 10-minute cruise to Riomaggiore, the last of the five. It’s a nice ride with splendid views of the coastal cliffs and hills above, and the blue sea all around. Enchanting, charming Riomaggiore is the grand climax to our survey of Cinque Terre. Here too you see that familiar pattern -- the houses tumbling down the cliffs to the water’s edge and a main pedestrian street rising up from the tiny cove, surrounded by terraced homes covering the hillside, rising high. It’s a surprising mix of urban high density in the midst of a tranquil, rural setting. It is very quiet when you walk down the little side streets, especially in the off-season, which is highly recommended. Cinque Terre, Italy, Manarollo, Monterosso, Riomaggiore, Vernazza, Corniglia, Italian Riviera.

Why you shouldn't visit the Cinque Terre Italy

In this video I answer 2 questions.
1. Is the Cinque Terre Italy over rated?
2. Should you visit the Cinque Terre Italy?
I also offer a few typical indicators on how to know if a place might be over rated or not and some hot tips on when to complete the famous cinque terre hike from Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza

Vernazza, Italy Walking Tour 4K - The BEST of Cinque Terre!

Welcome to Vernazza, Italy! This walk was filmed on August 5th, 2020 starting at 12:00pm. Vernazza is the 4th town of the Cinque Terre when hiking from Riomaggiore up to Monterosso. This was by far my favorite town of the Cinque Terre. I would have really liked to have spent more time here. The beaches were amazing and the whole atmosphere was calm and inviting. I hope you enjoy Vernazza as much as I did. Thanks for watching. Be sure to put on headphones while watching to get the full experience of the walk. Ciao.

The Italian Riviera (CINQUE TERRE) & the disappointing ☹️ town of VERNAZZA

SUBSCRIBE ► - Italian Riviera and Vernazza, a tour. Let's go visit Vernazza which is a town and comune located in the province of La Spezia, Liguria, northwestern Italy. It is one of the five towns that make up the Cinque Terre region. Vernazza is the fourth town heading north, has no car traffic, and remains one of the truest fishing villages on the Italian Riviera. It is the only natural port of Cinque Terre and is famous for its elegant houses.
In this video, I will point out why I was so disappointed in Vernazza. It was not just the huge crowds but the garbage (rubbish) all over the two beaches (including the Harbour beach) and the unpainted houses (which, according to some guide books, we supposed to look beautiful).
The Cinque Terre is a rugged portion of coast on the Italian Riviera. It is in the Liguria region of Italy, to the west of the city of La Spezia, and comprises five villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

CINQUE TERRE | ITALIAN RIVIERA | STORY OF FIVE TOWNS

Cinque Terre needs no introduction, its a combination of five small beautiful charming villages on the Italian Riviera located somewhere between the cities of Genoa and Pisa.

How to reach Cinque Terre:
To get to Cinque Terre (Five villages), you first have to get to La Spezia, which can easily be reached from Genoa in north or from Pisa in south by road or train.
From La Spezia, there runs special (and only) train “Cinque Terre express” which runs along the coast through the hills and takes you through all the villages of Cinque Terre and ends at Levanto, which on the other side of Cinque Terre.

Ticket and Train Schedule:
Train schedule varies from season to season and so does the prices with time, so its better to check it on official site

Hiking:
There is a 11 km trail (called the Blue Trail) connecting Riomaggiore to Monterosso al Mare. Please be mindful that you have to pay to do a trail!

RIOMAGGIORE:
Riomaggiore is the first village when traveling in the direction from La Spezia to Levanto.
if you have time, make sure to take a walk towards the center of village from the station. And as you walk across, you will soon realize that it’s situated in a small valley with mountains on both the sides.
If you have already walked this much, then make sure to visit The Church of San Giovanni Battista. It overlooks the whole town.
And is connected to Manarola by this famous footpath.
The Church of San Giovanni Battista
you can find the Sanctuary of Madonna di Montenero; A popular hike leads to this remote Catholic church & monastery overlooking the ocean.

MANAROLA:
Probably the prettiest and the most picturesque of all five with pastel-colored houses, small alleys and a small harbor for fishing boats.
If possible visit this town in night, looks more beautiful

CORNIGLIA:
Right at the center of the five and probably the smallest of all.
Also, it is only the village which is not right on the sea. In fact, if you want to visit it, you have to go there by walk, car/bus or train. But remember: if you go by train you will still have about 380 steps to climb.

VERNAZZA:
It is probably the most characteristic of the Cinque Terre and is classified as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
The Church of Santa Margherita di Antiochia, built on the rocks overlooking the sea

We did the trail between Vernazza to Monterosso

MONTEROSSO:
It is the largest of the five. And, the only one with a beach.
It is divided into two parts
the old town center and the modern part with the Fegina beach.

It was a treat to the eyes to see all these places up close and witness the beauty in real. We would recommend this place to anyone who is passing by the region to make a pit stop here and see it yourself and cover these places in one day.

The Cinque Terre: Exploring the Italian Riviera

Our visit to Italy's Cinque Terre where we hiked between the five coastal towns and ate good food.

Cinque Terre, Italy Travel Guide | Italian Riviera | Rapunzille

Welcome to my cinque Terre Travel Guide.
Cinque Terre in Italy is one of the most scenic beach destinations I've been to. Cinque Terre translates to five towns. We stayed in Riomaggiore, one of the fishing towns of the Cinque Terre. Cinque Terre Italy is one of the most scenic beach destinations I've been to.

We decided to stay in one of the five towns because we wanted to absorb the atmosphere of the town by staying at the cutest airbnb. You can view our airbnb in the Cinque Terre Italy vlog if you go to 2.32 minutes.

I hope you enjoy my Cinque Terre travel guide / vlog! I will have a blog post coming soon about my Cinque Terre Adventure.
