Day 8: Istanbul, Turkey - On Day 8, we flew on Turkish Airlines and from Muscat to Istanbul. The flight on Turkish Airlines was fantastic, and I had my first ever Turkish breakfast while in the sky. We then checked into The Ritz-Carlton hotel, and had some amazing Istanbul street food kofte for lunch. Istanbul is a city that I’ve always wanted to visit, and I can’t wait to explore and eat more Turkish food!

0:15 Turkish Breakfast on Turkish Airlines - To begin this day and video my wife and I were on a flight with Turkish Airlines (member of Star Alliance) from Muscat, Oman to Istanbul, Turkey. Turkish Airlines is an amazing airlines, and on business class they served us Turkish breakfast since we happen to fly into Istanbul early in the morning. Bread, olives, cheese, honey, and then the main dish included eggs and vegetables. Great flight with Turkish Airlines!

2:42 Istanbul Atatürk Airport - We arrived to Istanbul very early in the morning and after grabbing our bag, we found the bus outside the terminal to go to Taksim Square. The bus cost 11 TL ($3.73) per person.

4:57 The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul - Marriott Hotels sponsored my stay in Istanbul, and it was an honor to have the opportunity to stay at the The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul, which is located just a 5 minute walk from Taksim Square, with a fantastic view of the Bosphorus. We got all checked in, and the room was fantastic.

7:44 Istanbul Street Food - Kofte Sandwich Stall - After taking a little rest in the hotel and drinking some coffee, Ying and I were both pretty hungry. There’s a small Istanbul street food stall that serves amazing grilled kofte, just down the street from The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul, and that’s exactly where we headed, right at lunch time. Before ever arriving I could smell the aroma of the meat on the grill and then I could see the colorful display of peppers and parsley surrounding the grill as well. I ordered a kofte sandwich, and after toasting the bread, he added in a bunch of little meat kofte patties, some tomatoes and onions and peppers, seasoned with some spices and chili powder and handed it to me. For 10 TL ($3.40) for sandwich and drink, this was about as good as it could possibly get for Istanbul street food! Wow it was so good.

12:17 Taksim Square and Turkish Coffee at Mandabatmaz (Istiklal Street) - After that amazing kofte sandwich, we continued walking through Taksim Square, one of the most famous landmarks of Istanbul and then on to the walking Istiklal street. The highlight for me was stopping at Mandabatmaz for a cup of the most amazing Turkish coffee I’ve ever had. Turkish coffee - 5 TL ($1.70).

17:04 Fish and Meat House - At this point Ying and I were starting to get really sleepy - we hadn’t really slept the night before. So we stopped for an early dinner at Fish and Meat House to have some grilled fish. I had the grilled sea bream, which was simple and plain but excellently fresh and cooked perfectly. The salad was also delicious. Total price for everything - 74 TL ($25.12).

Turkish Food Tour in Istanbul - BEST Kebabs of My Life, AMAZING Seafood, and Turkish Ice Cream!

►Check out my Istanbul Travel Food Guide:
►Subscribe to my videos:
►Camera gear I use:

The first thing we did in the morning in Istanbul was drive over to Beşiktaş to eat an amazing Turkish food breakfast at a restaurant called Çakmak Kahvaltı Salonu. From there we took the ferry across the Bosphorus to Kadiköy, where we had an incredible Turkish seafood meal for lunch. Finally, we enjoyed some Turkish ice cream, and the show, and had the most incredible kebab I’ve ever had in my life at Zübeyir Ocakbaşı Restaurant. It was an amazing day of Turkish food in Istanbul!

1:27 Turkish breakfast at Çakmak Kahvaltı Salonu - For breakfast we headed to Beşiktaş, one of my favorite areas of Istanbul, and went to a restaurant known for serving breakfast. The breakfast was amazing, and I ate a dish of eggs with beef and butter. The side dishes were also fantastic. Total price - 29 TL ($9.73)

7:40 Boat to Kadiköy and Kadiköy Market - During our trip so far to Istanbul, we hadn’t had a chance to go to the Asian side of Istanbul. So today, we took the ferry over to Kadiköy pier on the Asian side across the Bosphorus. The views of Istanbul from the Bosphorus were stunning. On the other side, the main thing I wanted to do was explore Kadiköy Market, which was every bit as colorful as I had imagined. The fresh vegetables and seafood were fantastic, and I tried a cup of pickle juice.

1 Week Ago in Mumbai:

12:45 Seafood lunch at Balıkçı Lokantası Restaurant - Of all the meals I ate in Istanbul, this was one of my personal favorites, being a seafood lover. Not a far walk from the market, we went to a local family run seafood restaurant called Balıkçı Lokantası Restaurant. The owners were really friendly, and I ordered a plate of hamsi (which are anchovies), and I’m not sure of the name of the other dish, but I got Black Sea salmon braised in olive oil and butter I think with herbs and spices. It was one of the best Turkish foods I ate the entire trip to Istanbul. Wow, it was amazing.

20:50 Turkish Ice Cream - After spending some time exploring the Asian side of Istanbul, we took the ferry back to the European side, and since Istiklal Street was on our route, we stopped to have Turkish ice cream. You also see Turkish ice cream vendors playing with their customers, but when you’re the victim, it’s so confusing and funny. They have some serious skills playing with Turkish ice cream. Do you like Turkish ice cream?

23:49 Zübeyir Ocakbaşı Restaurant - For our final Turkish food meal of the day, we headed over to Zübeyir Ocakbaşı Restaurant. Ocakbaşı is a type of Turkish grill, and they served all sorts of different meat included kebabs and lamb chops in particular. We also got a bunch of side dishes and they cooked the kebabs and lamb chops right in front of us within the center of the restaurant. The kebab was the best I’ve ever had in my mouth, with an amazing mixture of minced meat and spices. Total price - 100 TL ($33.55). Thank you to David from for the recommendation.

The Ultimate Istanbul Turkish Food Tour - JUICY Kokoreç, Balık Ekmek (Fish Sandwich), and Lahmacun!

►Check out my Istanbul Travel Guide:
►Subscribe to my videos:
►Camera I use:

Day 10: Istanbul, Turkey - This was one of the best days of eating Turkish food in Istanbul that I had during my visit, and this video is an Istanbul food tour. We started with Turkish breakfast, followed by the famous fish bread sandwich (balik ekmek), followed by kokoreç and midye dolma, and then finally for dinner I ate lahmacun. Although everything was good in this Istanbul food tour, my favorite food of the day was the kokoreç.

00:41 Lades Menemen Restaurant - The first meal on this Turkish food tour was for Turkish breakfast just off Istiklal street. Along with some side dishes, my main order was menemen, which is a type of Turkish egg dish (similar to scrambled eggs) and I got it with Turkish sausage. It came piping hot and bubbling away, and it was extraordinarily delicious, especially with all the other sides. Total price - 34 TL ($11.43) for everything

4:56 Galata Tower - 25 TL ($8.40) per person - On this food tour, we still had to do a little bit of sightseeing, so on our way to the next restaurant, we stopped off at the Galata Tower for an amazing full 360 view of Istanbul. We got there right as they opened, so it was nice and quiet.

Galata Bridge, Eminönü, Balık Ekmek - Perhaps one of the most well known Istanbul street foods is, balık ekmek, a fish bread sandwich. Located in Eminönü, and along the water's edge, you’ll find a handful of boats that grill up pieces of mackerel, stuff them into bread, and serve them with lemon juice. You can sit along the pier, and enjoy your fish bread sandwich, and not only is it good, but the atmosphere is also fantastic. Balik Ekmek (fish sandwich) - 8 TL ($2.69)

10:56 Spice Bazaar (Egyptian Bazaar) - If I could choose one of my favorite things to do in Istanbul, it would be exploring the Spice Bazaar which is also known as the Egyptian Bazaar. You’ll find an incredible amount of spices and herbs and flavoring ingredients from around the world, packed into the market. After walking around for a while, Ying and I decided to buy some cherries, and the friendly vendor also gave us some samples of fruit as well. Cherries - 1 kg. for 12 TL ($4.03)

13:35 Süleymaniye Mosque - We were in the general area, so we stopped in at Süleymaniye Mosque, an iconic mosque in Istanbul that dominates the skyline.

15:21 Kral Kokoreç - The next food on this Istanbul food tour is kokoreç, and it’s one of the Turkish foods I was most looking forward to eating in Istanbul. Kral Kokoreç is an amazing, sort of street food stall in Istanbul. Kokoreç is a delicacy of organs wrapped in lamb intestines and grilled. I ordered a plate of it to go alongside some bread and it was spectacular. It was one of the best Turkish food meals I had, I loved it. They also sold midye dolma, mussels with rice and spices, and they were also wonderful. Total price - 29 TL ($9.71) - for everything.

22:42 Grand Bazaar - After that amazing meal, we walked over to the Grand Bazaar, which is not only one of the oldest covered markets in Istanbul, but one of the oldest covered shopping areas in the world. It was pretty amazing to walk around, and admire the shops and the actual structure of the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. I think the tea was 1 TL ($0.34).

25:47 Fıstık Kebap Lahmacun - To complete this Istanbul food tour, our final stop for dinner was at a restaurant called Fıstık Kebap Lahmacun (thanks to Culinary Backstreets for the recommendation: to eat lahmacun. At first we started off with aryan and kibbeh, before proceeding onto the lahmacun, pide, and the special fistik kebap. Everything was delicious, but I think I really liked the simplicity and lightness of the lahmacun the best. Total price - 58 TL ($19.49).

And that completes this video of the ultimate Turkish food tour of Istanbul, it was an amazing day of food!

Most INSANE Doner Kebab in Istanbul! (and Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to Rome)!

►Subscribe to my channel for more food videos:
►Check out my Istanbul travel guide:

Day 13: Istanbul to Rome on Turkish Airlines - On Day 13 of our Round The World Trip with Star Alliance, I first had the most insanely amazing doner kebab I’ve ever had, and then we went to the airport, enjoyed the Istanbul Turkish Airlines lounge, before flying with Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to Rome.

00:53 Tarihi Karadeniz Döner - My friend Tuba from says this place serves the best doner kebab in Istanbul, and she’s no joking around. The first thing you notice when you arrive to Tarihi Karadeniz Döner is the biggest round of doner that you’ll likely ever see in your life - it’s absolutely incredibly beautiful. Many people order their doner kebab for takeaway, but they have some seating upstairs where you can grab a seat and enjoy your doner kebab immediately after its shaved off. I ordered a plate of doner kebab meat, which was absolutely awesome. The meat was shaved perfectly, so it was slightly crispy, yet juicy and flavorful all the way through. Then I also ordered the iskender kebab (İskender kebap), another Turkish food I had been longing to eat. The doner kebab meat is sliced off, then combined with tomato sauce, sheep butter, and yogurt. Finally, to wash down the doner, I also had a cup of ayran. Total price - 46 TL ($15.45)

7:19 Taxi to Istanbul Atatürk Airport - After the amazing doner kebab at Tarihi Karadeniz Döner, we then checked out of our hotel and jumped in a taxi to the airport. Price - 57 TL ($19.14)

8:13 Turkish Airlines Lounge - I haven’t been to too many lounges, but the Turkish Airlines lounge in Istanbul is one of the most amazing airline lounges in the world. There was so much good food and so many drinks and beverage options. I was honestly pretty full after devouring all that doner kebab, but I did have a chance to try Turkish manti and then I went in for some salad.

12:05 Turkish Airlines Flight from Istanbul to Rome - We then caught our flight on Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to Rome. Turkish Airlines is an amazing airline with great service, and I love how there’s a chef on board. For lunch I had the kebab and it was pretty good.

16:45 Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport - The flight from Istanbul to Rome didn’t take too long, and we arrive to Rome!

17:16 Bus to Termini Station - 5.90 EUR ($6.59) per person - To get from the airport to the center of Rome we took the bus, which dropped us off at Termini station. From Termini Station we took the Metro to Spagna station.

18:13 Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora - During out time in Rome, we stayed at Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora, located in a great location.

$2 Turkish Street Food in Istanbul ????????

What started off as a doner kebab hunt ended up with us trying some completely different Turkish foods.

The popular doner restaurants in the Beyoglu area of Istanbul were too popular and we couldn't get a table. So we wandered the streets aimlessly until I found something that looked interesting, a small 'Nohutlu Pilav' restaurant on a street corner.

The massive glass box display of rice, separated by layers of chickpeas, caught my eye.

I ordered some of that along with some chicken liver and potatoes. The shop made fresh ayran, a type of yoghurt drink that's very popular in Turkey, so I chose that as my drink rather than the cans of soda in their fridge. All together it was the healthiest meal I've eaten in a long time.

@LukeDamant Was saving his appetite for the doner kebab that we were originally hunting for, so played camera man for me while I sampled the food.

The ayran tasted fresh and delicious and had some mint added to it for an extra bit of a kick.

The food tasted nice enough, but wasn't that exciting. What do you expect from healthy food? I did decide to spice it up a bit with some tomato ketchup, which went well with it.

Shout out to the staff of that shop who were super friendly and helpful in explaining what the food was. Restaurant details are down below.

The durum / doner kebab hunt continued. We tried the original place that we wanted to go to, Durumzade, but it was still packed with kebab lovers. So we continued to wander the streets.

Unfortunately my camera was on all the wrong setting for this video. I accidently changed the profile. This meant all my footage was cropped in, noisy, and with loads of motion blur that was especially awful in low light. The result is that all the footage of us wandering the streets, which was just after sunset, was completely unusable so I had to cut it from the final video.

So fast forward about 30 minutes and we found a small restaurant that had lots of tasty looking local grub on display. You see a lot of these places that have pre-made food in trays, displayed in their window, and it always looks tempting.

While I was thinking about which one I should get, the owner's nephew suggested Pide, also known as Turkish Pizza, which they make fresh in a special oven.

That sounded good to me and Luke was up for it too, despite his heart being set on a kebab. We ordered the Kuşbaşılı Pide, which has meat, cheese, tomato and peppers.

Again, the owner was very friendly and happy for us to watch him make the pide from scratch. The doughballs were rolled out into an oval shape, not round like a traditional pizza. There was no pizza sauce, instead a pre-prepared topping containing all the ingredients was added. It looked like a Mexican salsa.

Cheese was then added on top. It looked like mozzarella but I asked and was told that it was a type of Turkish cheese.

The edges of the base are rolled up and covered in egg, giving a nice crust to the pide after it cooks in the massive oven, which looks big enough to fit about 100 pizzas.

Of course the pide was delicious. The owner's nephew asked me to rate it out of 10 and I give it 11. Luke gave it a 12.

We didn't stay for dessert. Instead we decided to go back to the main street in Beyoglu and get bullied by the tricky ice cream vendors. Something you have to do at least once on a trip to Turkey.

Istanbul | Flow Through the City of Tales - Turkish Airlines

From the top of the Galata Tower, where Hezârfen Ahmed Çelebi flew across the Bosphorus, to the Grand Bazaar that holds the secrets of Chinese silk... Are you ready to witness the tale of Istanbul through a magical and poetic story?

About the Film:

Istanbul is the main hub of Turkish Airlines, a unique city that we take pride promoting at every single opportunity. Together with Rob Whitworth, a world-famous figure known for his talent in filmmaking, we created a film that introduces the historical, cultural and social aspects of the city to a global audience. The film that was shot in 4K resolution is simply a spectacular visual feast for the eyes.

About Turkish Airlines:
Established in 1933 with a fleet of five aircraft, Star Alliance member Turkish Airlines is the airline that flies to more countries and international destinations than any other airline in the world. Turkish Airlines has a fleet of over 300 (passenger and cargo) aircraft flying to over 300 destinations worldwide.

Since April 2019, Turkey’s national flag carrier is operating from its new hub, Istanbul Airport, which is set to be the world’s largest with an annual passenger capacity of 200 million once all phases are complete. Recognized for its excellent products and services around the globe, Turkish Airlines bridges cultures and continents from its hub in Istanbul, with Turkish hospitality at its heart. More information about Turkish Airlines can be found on its official website or its social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Instagram.

We Tried Turkish Street Food in Istanbul

Trying Turkish food in Istanbul. We have just arrived in Turkey and you know how much we love finding local food, so we are heading out in Istanbul to try out some of the local Turkey food.

On our way to breakfast we had to grab a walking snack called Simet before finding Van Kahvalti to have a traditional Turkish breakfast plus menemen and free flowing Turkish tea. We were lucky enough to try a winter based drink called Salep aka warm Christmas soup.

The coffee machine was broken so we headed to Konotrop for some hipster Australian coffee and hipster Turkish coffee before having the craziest ice cream experience in our life!

After the break we head to Sutlac Nizam Pide to try what we thought was Turkish Pizza (Pide) at least we managed to have a taste of Ayran...not sure if we regret it haha!

From there we head to the Bosphorus to try Balik Ekmek and pickle juice...I have no idea where we found the room to try Borek on the way to the spice market...but not before trying some more coffee.

To end it all we went to Gullouglu to have some Baklava!

Thanks for watching everyone hope you enjoyed it :)

Eating Turkish Food for 24 Hours in Turkish Airlines Business Class!!

???????? LEARN MORE ABOUT ISTANBUL:
???? TOURS BY LOCALS:

After spending nearly two weeks traveling around Ukraine, my trip was nearly at an end. Come with me as I travel from Odessa to Istanbul and eat Turkish food for 24 hours in Turkish Airlines Business Class as I make my way back home to Miami!

My travel journey began at the IST Airport in Istanbul. It had been a wild couple of weeks. I had started my two-week trip in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv and then moved on to Lviv, followed by the gorgeous Transcarpathia region. From there, I flew to Odessa on the Black Sea, and after a one-hour flight, I was in Istanbul, Turkey!

???? DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH:

While I was at the Business Class lounge in IST, I enjoyed some delicious kofta (Turkish meatballs) and pide (a Turkish flatbread that’s somewhat similar to pizza). They were delicious!

Then, I had some manti, which is similar to ravioli. It had a yogurt sauce on top, and I topped it with lots of chili powder and chili oil.

Thankfully, Turkish Airways had upgraded me to Business Class, which is always the best. I travel with them a lot, and they’re actually one of the carriers I fly with the most.

After finishing my manti, I headed to my flight to Miami after three different security checkpoints. Everyone onboard was really friendly. I was riding in a 787-900, and it would be a roughly 13-hour flight. It had a 1-2-1 configuration.

Luckily, my seat (6G) was a flat-lay bed with a charging station, a mirror, and a remote control. You can stretch out and just watch movies!

I ordered some Turkish-style meatballs. I started with some appetizers, which included a seafood assortment. It included smoked salmon, shrimp, and white fish. The smoked salmon was delicious, as was the cocktail shrimp on a tomato.

The white fish was either cod of haddock, and was fantastic. I also had some parmesan cheese, a small salad with eggplant, and multigrain bread.

Then, my entrée arrived. The kofta was so flavorful and spicy. It tasted different from the kofta you get in the Balkans due to the Ottoman influence. Then, for dessert, I had a doughy, chocolate-covered dessert called a profiterole.

For the next six or seven hours, I relaxed and slept. For dinner, we had more Turkish food, including dolmas (stuffed grape leaves), bulgur pilaf, cheese, Kuru Fasulye (white beans in tomato sauce), and a cucumber salad.

The best thing about Turkish Airways’ Business Class is that it gets you to your destination refreshed. It’s so easy to kick back and relax. Turkish Airways travels to roughly 300 destinations in 120 countries, so I highly recommend them!

ISTANBUL STREET FOOD will BLOW YOU AWAY!! Turkish Street Food HEAVEN - Adana Kebab + Pickle Juice!

Kemeraltı Bazaar in Izmir:

Iskender Kebab in Bursa :

Amazing street food can be found all around Istanbul! Join us as we continue our Street Food in Turkey tour! Today we are going to be trying some unique foods you’ve never heard of!

For breakfast, we are having a RARE type of turşu suyu, which is pickle juice. We ordered the “mixed” version - with cabbage, carrots, cucumbers and beets. And of course, the pickle juice is SPICY! (5 TRY / 0.86 USD)

Next, we’re visiting a weekly fresh market called Tarlabaşi Pazari which is only open on Sundays. In the summer, apricots are in season, and they are worth trying fresh at this traditional market!

In Istanbul, you can sample delicious cuisine that comes from all over Turkey. This time, we decided on Adana cuisine. Adana kebab is made from hand-minced lamb meat cooked over charcoal. That smokey flavour and juicy lamb is HEAVEN! (35 TRY / 6.02 USD)

If you’ve never tried traditional Turkish ice cream, you are missing out! We head to an old-school shop serving up a chewy textured (made from mastic) ice cream cone. So incredible on a hot Turkish summer day! (4.5 TRY / 0.77 USD)

Next up is a cruise on the iconic Bosphorus, because a trip to Istanbul is not complete without one. We opted for the economic TurYol cruise, a 90-minute tour north that passes palaces, mansions, bridges and plenty of gorgeous sights. For 20 TRY / 3.44 USD, that is totally worth it!!!

Since we were near the Bosphorus, we thought we would try the very FAMOUS Balik Ekmek, or grilled fish sandwich. In a tourist hot-spot, served from a real boat, the sights surrounding the restaurant are why it is so popular. The food however, was not that tasty and isn’t considered a good choice among the locals. We wanted to see what the hype was about. Oh well! (15 TRY / 2.58 USD)
