This video is based on my experience at the Istanbul Ataturk Airport. Information shared in this video is based on - the best and cheapest way to go from Istanbul airport to city centre. I travelled via Istanbul Metro from Istanbul airport to Sultan Ahmet, a tourist hub in Istanbul. I have also shared inputs on sim card in Turkey. For eg, I have mentioned the cost of Turkcell and Vodafone sim available at the airport. Although there are many other sim card companies in Turkey which you will come to know in upcoming videos. What is the best way to get Turkish Lira at the airport! I used the HSBC atm at Istanbul airport to withdraw money. Though I got a poor exchange rate. After withdrawing the money I purchased a smartcard which is valid in all trams, metro, buses and even toilets in Istanbul, the name of this smartcard is IstanbulKart. After exiting the International Arrivals section, you can turn left or right to exit. Exit the gate and follow the signs for metro.
There are yellow machines at the metro booths where you can buy Istanbulkart. Buy a card there with your credit card or Turkish Lira. Activate the card and load some money. There are yellow machines at every station where you can load money to your card. But this card has a limit: 500 Turkish Lira (September 2023). When you exceed that amount, you need to get a new card.
Metro and Tram operate from 06.00 - 24.00. You can use HAVAIST buses outside these hours. You can see the link for the video at the top right.
Pass through the toll booth and take the M11 metro. Get off at the last stop, Kagithane. When you go up, you will see the M7 metro on the left. Use the stairs on the right to go to the city center (Eminonu, Sultanahmet) and the stairs on the left to go to Taksim.
To go to Taksim, take the M7 metro here and get off at Mecidiyekoy.
From there, take the M2 metro towards Yenikapi and get off at Taksim stop.
To go to Eminonu, take the same M7 metro and get off at the Alibeykoy stop. T5 tram stop is on the left side. Go down and get on the tram. You will arrive in Eminonu in approximately 32 minutes.
When you arrive at Eminonu, the last stop by tram, walk towards the Galata Bridge. Keep walking under the bridge. Continue towards the piers. There is a tram station on the right. You can walk towards the city center by taking the tram in the same direction or following the tram route.

There are two kind of public transport cards in Istanbul for tourists: “Istanbulkart” and “Istanbul City Card.” You can get these cards at airport or city centre on machines with your credit card or cash in Turkish Lira.
Istanbulkart
To get this card you have to pay first a card fee (50 TL, in May 2023). Then you have to charge money on it with a machine. The charge limit for one month is 500 TL (in May 2023). If this card is not used for 2 years, it becomes out of use.
In order to use the card in a transportation vehicle, you must have your card swiped. A one ride takes 9.90 Turkish lira (May 2023).
Istanbulkart is valid in buses, funicular, metrobus, metro, suburban trains, ferry, tram, İstanbul metropolitan municipality social facilities, public toilets, some markets (Migros, Carrefour…).
If there’s money on your card, you can’t get it back, but you can use it on markets or social facilities.
Istanbul City Card
Istanbul City Card is a prepaid public transportation card that gives you unlimited access to public transportation for the number of days you choose: 1, 3, 5, 7, 15.

3 DAYS UNLIMITED € 35
5 DAYS UNLIMITED € 44
7 DAYS UNLIMITED € 52
15 DAYS UNLIMITED € 78
You can use it like the “IstanbulKart.” The only difference is, that this “Istanbul City card” is unlimited for one person.

You can go to Kadikoy from Istanbul SAW Airport by the following vehicles:
(Prices are based on March 2023)
It takes approximately 1 hour to reach Kadikoy. Please note, the arrival time of other vehicles may be longer, except for the metro, during rush hour.
*METRO* 01:21
To use the metro, turn left immediately after exiting the International Arrivals Gate. Go downstairs with the escalator. Follow the subway signs.
The metro works 24 hours.
*ISTANBUL CITY CARD* 01:40
When you arrive at the entrance turnstiles, there is a machine on the left where you can buy an Istanbul card or Istanbul City Card. You don't need to load a lot of money. Then go through the turnstiles and follow the road to get into the metro.
Istanbul city card is valid in buses, funicular, metrobus, metro, suburban trains, ferry, tram, Istanbul metropolitan municipality social facilities, public toilets.
After you reach Kadikoy, when you reach the top exit, turn right and go to the coast. You will see the Bosphorus. This time turn right again and go to the pier on the right.

Now you can use public transportation vehicles without Istanbulkart or Istanbul City Card, only with your contactless credit card. Of course, Istanbulkart or Istanbul City Card is cheaper. Go to Karaköy pier. It's very very close to Eminönü Pier:

After arriving in Eminonu, you can easily reach the area where the hotels are located, either by tram or on foot.
If you want to use one of the other three vehicles, this time turn right when you exit the International Arrivals Gate.
*TAXI* 03:05
Taxis are waiting for customers right at the exit.
*HAVABUS/HAVAIST* 03:15
You can pay for Havabus buses in Turkish Lira, US Dollar or Euro or with your credit card.
*MUNICIPAL BUS* 03:24
In order to get on the city bus numbered E11, you must likewise get an Istanbul Card, Istanbul City Card or pay with your credit card. You cannot get into the vehicle without a card. Bus number E10 arrives in Kadikoy later. You will arrive in front of Kadikoy Pier with three vehicles.
*SHUTTLE* 03:56
To use the shuttle, you can make your reservation and payment from the stand on the right before leaving the airport. Shuttle takes you as far as Sultanahmet (Blue Mosque).

Buying a Sim Card at Sabiha Gökçen Airport SAW in Istanbul in 2024
Traveling to Turkey and flying to Istanbul? There are 2 airports: IST and SAW. If you are landing on the Asian side, the name of the airport is Sabiha Gokcen and the airport code is SAW.

Therefore, during your visit to Istanbul, you can either take advantage of the wifi facilities of places such as cafes and hotels, or you need to get a special gsm line for the trip.
There are also companies that provide phone and internet services to many countries. But I don't know anything about these. In this video, I will give you information about the features and prices of SIM cards offered by gsm companies operating in Turkiye for tourists.
All SIM cards in Türkiye are for one month. The line closes after three months. Here you can see the services, features and prices offered by the four companies.
