A Look At the City of Alexandria, Egypt
is the third-largest city in Egypt after Cairo and Giza, the seventh-largest city in Africa, and a major economic centre. With a total population of 5,381,000, Alexandria is the largest city on the Mediterranean – also called the Bride of the Mediterranean by locals – the fourth-largest city in the Arab world and the ninth-largest urban area in Africa. The city extends about 40 km (25 mi) at the northern coast of Egypt along the Mediterranean Sea. Alexandria is a popular tourist destination, and also an important industrial centre because of its natural gas and oil pipelines from Suez.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, which is a revival of the Alexandria Library, the largest library in the ancient world.
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is an 11-story library along the ancient harbour in Alexandria. The library can accommodate eight million books and 2500 readers.
The Alexandria Library is also home to four permanent museums, a planetarium, a conference centre, lots of exhibitions, a children's library, a multimedia library, a library for the blind, and many others.
The library building is a feast of architectural marvel combining ancient and modern styles. The timeless and bold circular design represents cyclical fluid knowledge throughout time. The tilting and glistering roof represent the ancient Alexandrian lighthouse providing Alexandria with the light of knowledge.
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina project was made possible by UNESCO and the global cooperation of 18 countries.
A funny thing happened was that inside the museum I was so immersed in taking pictures and videos that I lost my group and had to complete the tour alone. I was able to meet them after the tour at the exit gate.

In this episode, I try to explore the sea side city of Alexandria in Egypt, North Africa which is an Arabic country. This is my first time in Africa and I arrive at the Bourg El Arab Airport that serves Alexandria city and now I am taking the city tour of Alexandria starting with the ancient Alexandria library built by Alexander The Great. The library has since been destroyed many times and now rebuilt in its modern glory by generous donations from around the world. I take a guided tour and discovers many historical city sights and learn about Egyptian history that I share with you in this episode and the whole of this series.
