Is Langkawi worth visiting? Malaysia travel vlog.
4 days in Langkawi, Malaysia. Is that enough?
Having only heard about this island, a few weeks prior, we decided to head there for a handful of days to see what is on offer.
On first glance, we found that a lot of the shops and resturants seem to be closed or closing down. It presented itself to us as a place to go, relax and enjoy the sun and beach. The problem was we had just come from some amazing islands in Thailand where the sand was whiter, the water was clearer and there was a lot more to do.
There are still lots of things to do, if money isn't a problem. There is the mangrove tour, the cable car up to the skybridge (allow plenty of time to queue), some zoos and crocodile farms, expensive hotel/resorts etc. But for us, we went searching for the free/cheaper side of things, like the waterfalls and hidden beaches.
Did we have a good time there? Yes. Would we go back? Probably not. However the biggest attraction of this place to us, was how amazingly kind and friendly everyone was. The people were so welcoming, everywhere we went. Even just saying hello as you walk down the street.
So if your wondering about going, and you like a chilled out relaxing beach holiday, we'd say absolutely go! You can get cheap food and drink and it take 45 minutes to ride for one side of the island to the other. But if your in search of a more active destination, Malaysia probably has better options for you.
