San Francisco: The GOOD, The BAD, The UGLY (California Documentary)

San Francisco, California — a city so beautiful it’s hard to believe it’s real. Yet at the same time, it is gritty and dystopian, its underbelly fully exposed for the world to see. In this travel documentary, explore the nature and geography of this 7x7 peninsula, take a closer look at the quirky, colorful Victorian architecture and the history behind it, visit one of the most iconic Victorians in town (that looks like the Addam's Family mansion), and walk through the Tenderloin, a complex neighborhood that is ground zero of San Francisco's homeless and drug crisis and home to the city's Southeast Asian immigrants.

Uncovering the Hidden Wonders of San Francisco Chinatown!

A walking tour of Chinatown in San Francisco California. Chinatown in SF is a unique blend of traditional Chinese culture and modern American life. Located in the heart of the city, it is a popular tourist destination: in fact San Francisco's Chinatown gets more visitors annually than the Golden Gate Bridge.

The history of San Francisco Chinatown dates back to the 1850s, when Chinese immigrants arrived in the city to work on the transcontinental railroad and in the gold mines. Today, San Francisco Chinatown is a bustling neighborhood filled with shops, restaurants, and colorful street markets. Visitors can explore traditional Chinese architecture, such as the Gateway Arch, which marks the entrance to the neighborhood. The streets are lined with traditional lanterns, red banners, and paper mache lions, creating a vibrant atmosphere.

Oldest Restaurant in California!! SAN FRANCISCO FOOD TOUR + Huge Seafood Bowl!!

???? Thanks to Visit California for sponsoring this trip
???? SUBSCRIBE: Don’t miss new food videos

SAN FRANCISCO - Welcome to the beautiful city of San Francisco, California on the west coast of the United States. It’s one of the most beautiful cities in the US and it has a rich history of food. Today, we’re going on a classic, heritage food tour of San Francisco, where we’re going to eat at some of the oldest and best restaurants in the city. We’ll be eating huge amounts of cioppino, a fisher’s seafood stew that was invented in San Francisco!

Again, thank you to Visit California for sponsoring my trip.

Facebook:

Swan Oyster Depot ( Total price - $109.50 - First up on this food tour we headed to the legendary Swan Oyster Depot, easily one of the top restaurants I was looking forward to eating at in all of SF. It’s like taking a step back in time from the moment you step in. It’s all seafood bar counter style, fresh, and whatever is in season. I tried a bunch of different dishes, including a Crab Louie (another dish invented in San Francisco), plus smoked salmon on sourdough, chowder, shrimp cocktail, Sicilian sashimi, and crab backs. What a meal and what a way to start off this ultimate San Francisco food tour.

Sotto Mare ( - Next we headed over to Sotto Mare, an Italian American restaurant serving seafood and local dishes. Among their list of dishes, no one goes to Sotto Mare without ordering their cioppino, an Italian American seafood medley with tomatoes and white wine and plenty of garlic. It’s the signature dish of San Francisco, and you can’t visit without trying it.

Anchor Oyster Bar ( - Total price - $136.29 - One of my personal favorite restaurants in San Francisco is Anchor Oyster Bar, where they again specialize in both oysters and cioppino. I ordered a nice tray of oysters to begin with, and finished with a huge bowl of cioppino. To me, this is the gold standard - a beautiful tomato broth that’s not too heavy and not too light, accented with herbs and spices, and a huge variety of seafood. An amazing meal.

Tadich Grill ( - Total price - $129.26 - Finally to complete this San Francisco food tour we headed to Tadich Grill in downtown. Dating back to 1849, it’s not only the oldest restaurant in SF, but the oldest restaurant in California! It’s absolutely classic from the moment you walk in, huge wooden bar counter, high saloon style ceiling, and waiters in white coats. I tried a number of dishes including, you guessed it - cioppino. But the real winner here for me were the local sand dabs.

And that wraps up this ultimate food tour in San Francisco!

San Francisco has a 2nd CHINATOWN!????

Chinese New Year is coming in HOT!!! I'm at the age where it's my turn to give out Lucky Red Envelopes instead of receiving them :-(, but it's all good!! Where the hell in San Francisco can I buy some Lucky Red Envelopes? Obvious a Chinese Community!

Even though San Francisco's Chinatown is hands down the most famous and prominent Chinese Community in the city, there are a few Chinese Communities nested in other areas. The Inner Richmond area on Clement is dubbed the Unofficial 2nd Chinatown of San Francisco.

I'm 100% certain I will find my Lucky Red Envelopes here, but let's go for a quick stroll and see how's going on in this part of the city!

San Francisco Travel Guide - Chinatown's Surviving Restaurant During The Pandemic

San Francisco is a must visit for anyone traveling across country. It is one of the jewel of California, and a historic landmark in American history.

Aside from the many modern and old architect, which blended together uniquely, the city also preserve parts of its city to big parks. One of the big and famous park is the Golden Gate Park. There are many things to see and do in this park. We wanted to experience all that there is at this park, but our stay in the Bay Area is not long enough to seek out all the activities.

At the Golden Gate Park, we took a tour of the Conservatory of Flowers. This place was magical. The tropical zones that this green house display was breath taking. Every corner of the place gives us new oooos and aaaaas. It was spectacular.

Not too far away from this park, was San Francisco's famous Chinatown. You can't miss out on this place when you visit the Bay Area.

For many Chinese Americans, it is where most of Chinese immigrants started to a mass during the gold rush and the railroad industrial age.

San Francisco Chinatown is one of the oldest chinatown in America. With its old history and tradition, you can surely find some of the best chinese food.

Because of the Pandemic, what used to be a busy, hustling street of San Francisco's Chinatown, was now pretty empty. There are barely any tourists, and many of the shops have closed down. The ones that are still left standing, are the ones that have strong reputation.

One of the surviving restaurant is House of Nanking. It is located right across from the famous green building American Zoetrope. This restaurant has been open for 33 years, and they look to continue their business through all the tough changes. This restaurant used to be very busy, with lines waiting out the door every single day at every single hour.

We were lucky to stumble upon it while we explore San Francisco Chinatown. It is the first time we ever experience a unique chinese up to the chef course meal. It was unique and tasty experience. It's definitely a must try restaurant when you are in the San Francisco area.
