Key Destinations
- Ashur — former capital of the Assyrian Empire and UNESCO World Heritage site, this is one of the country's few great archaeological sites that has benefited from the latest invasion—the Hussein government planned to create a dam nearby that would have flooded and utterly destroyed the site.
- Babylon (بابل) — damaged by inept reconstruction, looting, and military negligence, the ruins of ancient Babylon are still some of the most impressive in the Cradle of Civilization.
- Ctesiphon — the ancient capital of the Parthian and Sassanid Empires left us with magnificent, towering ruins, most notably of the magnificent Arch of Ctesiphon; just across the Tigris is the archaeological site of the ancient Hellenistic city of Seleucia.
- Hatra — a UNESCO World Heritage site, these incredibly well preserved Parthian city off in the desert are quite possibly Iraq's most magnificent ruins
- Nineveh (نينوى) — a 8,000 year old city and one time capital of Assyria, whose partially reconstructed ruins and archaeological site lies across the Tigris from Mosul.
- Ur (أور) — the ruins of the ancient Sumerian city, best known for its giant step pyramid, the Great Ziggurat of Ur.

Assyrian King Ashurnasirpal’s Palace Excavation Footage. Biblical Evidence. Biblicaltours.

The kings of Assyria located their palaces at Nineveh, modern day Mosel in Iraq. The kings interacted with the northern tribes of Israel and southern tribes of Judah for centuries. These conflicts are recorded in the historical narrative of the Bible and written in the cuneiform language on artefacts found at the different palaces at Nineveh. These include the Black Obelisk showing Israelite King Jehu, the Kurkh Stela, a monument to Shalmaneser III, reliefs showing Tiglath-pileser III, Sargon II, his son Sennacherib, and the famous reliefs from the conquest of Lachish. The Taylor Prism, records Israelite King Hezekiah being trapped in Jerusalem like a bird in a cage by Sennacherib. These artefacts are on display at the British Museum in London.
The archaeological excavations of Nineveh started in the 1920’s, this film footage captures the day to day life at and around the site, as they dig down to King Ashurnasirpal’s Palace.

Mosul, Iraq: walking around a devastated city 4 years after liberation from ISIS.

A short film I made during a two-day visit to Mosul, the capital city of Nineveh Governorate, northern Iraq. Mosul experienced four years of Islamic-State rule until it got liberated in 2017 by an international coalition of forces, after seven months of baneful fighting. Another four years elapsed since the liberation by the time of our visit. The city remains largely depopulated and in rubble, but human hope shines amid the destruction in a bid to reinstate everyday life. Read the story:

Fantastic Hierapolis - Greek City of Ancient Times

Hierapolis is an EPIC site to behold .
I was amazed to experience such a large ancient site. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't go with a guide but alone, so I could take my time going through there, as there was so much to absorb. This site is a Greek City that has an ancient history dating back several thousand years or more. It is also connected to Pamukkale calcium deposits site , truly a wonder to behold! Check it out!

Slough Fort

* You may need to pause the video to be able to read the information boards in this video.

Slough Fort is a small artillery fort that was built at Allhallows-on-Sea in the north of the Hoo Peninsula in Kent. Constructed in 1867, the D-shaped fort was intended to guard a vulnerable stretch of the River Thames against possible enemy landings during a period of tension with France. Its seven casemates initially accommodated rifled breech loading guns, which were replaced by the turn of the century by more powerful breech-loaders on disappearing carriages, mounted in concrete wing batteries on either side of the fort. It was likely one of the smallest of the forts constructed as a result of the 1860s invasion scare.

Nineveh and the Prophet Nahum. Dr Jay Smith. The British Museum.

The British Museum has an enormous collection of Assyrian artefacts covering many of it’s kings. Dr. Jay Smith is standing in a very long gallery filled with reliefs from King Sennacherib’s Palace in Nineveh, called Mosel in today’s Iraq. The book of the Prophet Nahum only has three chapters and in each one is a prophecy of the future destruction of Nineveh. Jay shows the physical evidence and refers to cuneiform evidence written in the Babylonian Chronicles seen later in the tour.
Dr. Jay Smith’s ministry is called PfanderFilms.

Iraqi Christian town of Qaraqosh, after ISIS

A walk through the mostly empty homes and streets in the predominately Christian town of Qaraqosh, Iraq. The town was captured and held by ISIS for two years beginning in 2014. Though ISIS was pushed out in late 2016, most residents have yet to return. This video was taken on May 20, 2017.
