We'll walk you around, show you a few of the sites and also take you into the markets and grocery stores to get an idea of what this city has to offer travellers and expats.

Magical Lake Atitlan Guatemala Travel Guide 4K
In this Lake Atitlan travel guide we explore 5 villages around the lake. Including Santiago De Atitlan, San Juan La Laguna, Santa Catarina, San Antonio Palopo and Panajachel. I would say this is the best place to visit in Guatemala because there are many villages to explore around the lake and culture to explore. But best of all is probably going to be the incredible natural beauty and scenery of the lake Atitlan.
There are a few towns around the lake also worth mentioning but we did not go. Such as San Marcos, which is popular with new age explorers, San Pedro La Laguna with foreign tourist and San Lucas for its proximity outside of the lake region to the Pacific Ocean. Our travel guide is from Santa Cruz La Laguna and says that one is the best. If you can get around to many of the towns and villages you will certainly feel culturally enriched and as if you really met the Mayan people.

If you're a backpacker or a budget traveller and you're visiting this part of Guatemala, this is probably where you'll end up. Walking around Panajachel, Lake Atitlán. Travelling onwards from Antigua, our next stop was Panajachel, Lake Atitlán. This is arguably the nicest lake in Guatemala and is surrounded by lots of towns and villages, each with their own charm and character. The town of Panajachel is used as an initial base for many travellers before further exploring around Lake Atitlán.
In this video, I spend the day exploring Panajachel's streets, markets, and the lakeside promenade. The following day I hopped on a boat and go to explore the village of San Marcos and its beautiful nature reserve!

We are leaving San Pedro La Laguna with boat in the morning. We are passing Volcano San Pedro, Volcano Atitlan and Volcano Toliman on our way to Panajachel Lago Atitlan.
The pier in Panajachel Guatemala is busy. This town is used as a base to explore the other villages around the lake for example San Pedro La Laguna, Santiago Atitlan, San Marcos La Laguna, San Juan La Laguna, Jaibalito, Tzununa, Santa Catarina Palopo and Santa Cruz La Laguna.
Calle Santander in Pana is the main street.
Sunday should be the best market day in Panajachel, so we explore several Panajachel markets.
We visit the Church of St. Francis of Assisi.
Guatemala is famous for its coffee! Cafe Loco is the perfect cafe for coffee lovers.
Casa Kaqchikel is a cultural heritage of Panajachel. Che Guevara and Ingrid Bergman spent time here.
After we eat food at El Ultimo Refugio.
Museo Lacustre de Atitlán tells about the history of Lake Atitlán and the lost Maya city Samabaj, at the bottom of the lake.

This is our latest trip from Antigua Guatemala to Panajachel Lake Atitlan. This is our Guatemala Travel Guide - Antigua Guatemala to Panajachel Guatemala & Lago Atitlan is where we'll visit during this video. Lake Atitlan was on our radar since we arrived in Antigua Guatemala. Lake Atitlan Guatemala is what the local tour companies would advise us to visit. Since My girlfriend is a planner, heading from Antigua to Panajachel was our logical first leg of our journey. Antigua to Panajachel Guatemala is where most begin their trek to Lake Atitlan.
Also known as Lago Atitlan, Lago Atitlan Guatemala is the way it would be pronounced in Spanish. Antigua Guatemala is our spot, don't get me wrong, but Lake Atitlan Panajachel would have to be our second favorite place visited during our visit to Guatemala. Panajachel is the main town to get to from both Guatemala City and Antigua Guatemala when heading to Lake Atitlan, aka Lago Atitlan. Panajachel Guatemala is a funky little town right on the lake and probably the main town to move around to and from other towns along the lake. If going from Antigua to Lake Atitlan just ask any tour company or guide in town. and there are plenty of them. Guides also hang out in Parque Central. Guatemala City is a good jump off spot since your flight will probably land there. But any city, really, is easy to plan a trip to the lake.
San Marcos Guatemala was a cute town, but really we weren't there long enough to make a fair review. The flys were intense and I couldn't eat while there.
Guatemala City to Lake Atitlan is probably a 3 hour drive. Atitlan Guatemala is now a major tour attraction. But really, not too many Americans know about it. So, keep it a secret please. Atitlan Guatemala 2019 or should I say now, Atitlan Guatemala 2020, is a good way to search for visits to the lake. Guatemala Travel is the way to go people. A Guatemala Travel Guide is a good way to get started. Antigua travel should be at the top of your list if visiting Central America. Guatemala is the country, Antigua is the city. If visiting Antigua Guatemala and I could be of assistance, please comment on the video and I'll help you as best I can.

We are spending 8 months travelling in Guatemala, the country where Giorgio was born. Our Guatemala Travel Vlog 2020 (and 2019) Series will bring you to the most amazing places in Guatemala. This Lake Atitlan Guatemala Drone video shows you some of the most beautiful places and views you can find on your Guatemala travel.
In Spanish, Lake Atitlan is called Lago de Atitlan, and it is the deepest lake in Central America. The lake has a maximum depth of about 340 metres. It is situated in the district of Sololá in the western highlands of Guatemala. The lake is 18 km wide and 10 km long. It lies at an altitude of 1,562 m. It is surrounded by the three volcanoes: Volcan Atitlán, Volcan Tolimán and Volcan San Pedro.
The lake is located about 50 kilometres from Antigua Guatemala, which is also a popular and beautiful travel destination in Guatemala. It easy to travel from Lake Atitlan to Antigua Guatemala.
The lake is surrounded by many villages and towns in which Maya culture is still prevalent. Traditional clothes are still worn by many Mayan people.
Lago de Atitlán is an endorheic lake, feeding into two rivers. The lake basin is volcanic in origin, filling an enormous caldera formed by an eruption 84,000 years ago.
The towns and villages around Lake Atitlan in Guatemala are: San Juan La Laguna, San Pedro La Laguna, San Marcos La Laguna, Panajachel, Jaibalito, Santa Cruz La Laguna, Tzununá, San Pablo La Laguna, Santiago Atitlán, Santa Catarina Palopó, San Lucas Tolimán and San Antonio Palopó. Each town is unique and you should visit them all if you have the chance. San Juan Guatemala and San Pedro Guatemala are neighbouring villages but completely different. We recommend you to visit San Juan Guatemala 2020 and also San Pedro Guatemala 2020.

In this tour video, we will take a boat ride on Lake Atitlán from Panajachel to Santiago Guatemala. Once we arrive in Santiago Guatemala we will go for a walk to see what this city looks like. Lake Atitlán is a body of water in a massive volcanic crater in Guatemala’s southwestern highlands. It is 12 km long and surrounded by volcanos. Many tourists and backpackers visit Panajachel and discover this true hidden gem of Lake Atitlán.
