In the 3rd episode of the series, we head to our first mountain pass at 3978M altitude - The Rohtang Pass! This episode (vlog) documents the 3rd day of our self supported Manali to Leh Cycling Expedition where we cycled 51Km from Marhi to Sissu!
Three of us, at Xplore The Earth undertook this adventure, without any prior cycling experience, practice, or even owning cycles, before the trip! We cycled the route on our own, without any support vehicles, staff, or organizers! We have captured glimpses of this journey and how it went, which will be broadcasted in this series as short episodes.

Manali to Leh highway | Rohtang pass permit not needed anymore | Ep -3
Exploring the best landscapes I have seen until now. Manali to Leh is a dream ride for every Rider, but unfortunately Manali bikes are not allowed in Leh. So you need to bring your own bike if you want to cover this highway on your own.
This way is not an easy way, specially to those who have breathing problem because you have to cross 5 high altitude passes while going through this way.
Roads are in very good conditions now compare to 3-4 years back. But still there are many rough patches, dirt roads, bad and rocky roads on the way so having a good driving skill is must.
I have covered these things in the video I hope you will enjoy the journey and takeaway the necessary precautions.

Situated about 50 KM from Manali, Rohtang La has an elevation of 3,978 m (13,050 ft), its a high mountain pass on the eastern range of Himalayas and part of the Manali - Leh Highway.
Visiting in December means most of the snow would have melted away and it is the best time for a scenic drive.

Hello Guys we are travelling from Manali to Sarchu which is 230 km roughly it will take 8 hours of travel. in this video you will be able to see the Palchan Bridge and the South portal Atal Tunnel, Rohtang the speed Limit in this Tunnel is 60km its a 2 way Tunnel its length is 9.2 Km this is One of the Longest Highway single tube tunnel
Earlier, it was the only way to Lahaul from Manali. With the opening of the tunnel, traffic has been divided. People visiting Lahaul and Leh can travel via Atal Tunnel, by passing the Rohtang Pass
This place can be visited between June and September when the snow melts and the Leh-Manali highway is open for traffic. Sarchu is an important route for Ladakh Manali Highway.
Longest Tunnel in the world above 10,000 feet- ATAL TUNNEL, Rohtang Manali to Rohtang Solang Ep 2
Atal Tunnel (also known as Rohtang Tunnel),named after former Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee is a highway tunnel built under the Rohtang Pass in the eastern Pir Panjal range of the Himalayas on the Leh-Manali Highway in Himachal Pradesh, India. At a length of 9.02 km, it is the highest highway single-tube tunnel above 10,000 feet (3,048 m) in the world. With the existing Atal Tunnel and after the completion of under-construction Shinku La Tunnel, which is targeted to be completed by 2025, the new Leh-Manali Highway via Nimmu–Padum–Darcha road will become all-weather roads.
Solang Valley derives its name from combination of words Solang and Nallah. It is a side valley at the top of the Kullu Valley in Himachal Pradesh, India 14 km northwest of the resort town Manali on the way to Rohtang Pass, and is known for its summer and winter sport conditions.
Koksar is one of the villages in Lahaul Mandal in Lahaulspiti District in Himachal Pradesh state in Northern India. Koksar meaning is Alpine, Big, Colossal, Gigantic, Highland, Huge, Mammoth, Tall and Towering. Koksar is about 19 km from Rohtang Pass, and 7 km from North Portal of Atal Tunnel Rohtang. Here we experienced -6 degrees Celsius mark.
We planned to visit Rohtang Pass to recreate some majestic scenes to Jab We Met, without being known that Rohtang Pass is closed closed in Winter season. We spent our day in Koksar, the extreme coldest day we experienced is here only.
