Ras Al Khaimah City, sometimes called RAK, is one of the emirates in UAE and home to most of the emirate's residents (locals). Its name in English means top of the tent. RAK city has two main areas - the Old Town and Nakheel - on either side of a creek that is home to mangroves and is framed by the North-Western Hajar Mountains. RAJCHL REIST nach Ras Al Khaimah: Wie sicher ist das Emirat?
Im einzigen Ultra-All-inclusive-Resort von Ras Al Khaimah, dem Rixos Bab Al Bahr, treffe ich den in Deutschland aufgewachsenen Hotelmanager Baran Bekmez. „Die Emirate und im Besonderen Ras Al Khaimah sind eines der sichersten Länder der Welt“, betont Baran. „Und im Gegensatz zu manchen anderen orientalischen Ländern extrem weltoffen und westlich orientiert.“ Das liegt auch daran, dass die meisten Bewohner des Landes keine Emiratis sind, sondern aus aller Herren Länder stammen, auch deutschsprachige Ausländer arbeiten hier, unter anderem im Tourismus. Im Bikini baden und am Strand einen alkoholischen Drink genießen ist in Ras Al Khaimah kein Problem, was nicht in jedem Emirat möglich ist. Wobei Alkohol in den Hotels seinen stolzen Preis hat: Umgerechnet 16 Euro kann ein großes Bier locker kosten. Auf der Ferien-Insel Marjan Island habe ich eine günstigere Alternative entdeckt: einen kleinen „Liquor Shop“, bei dem eine Flasche europäisches Bier oder Wein kaum teurer als in Österreich ist.
